Atwater's in The Herrington
We had a late reservation on a Saturday night and were not rushed and treated as if we were the only guests in the room. The food and service were perfection. Really need the molten chocolate cake recipe....just saying!
The Earl Gray Filet Mignon was one of the best steaks I ever had. We loved the half bottles of wine and our server, Michael, was wonderful.
We had a lovely Mother’s Day dinner! Service was very attentive in a lovely setting overlooking the Fox River!
We had a delicious dinner with excellent service. However, a large party in the room increased the noise level greatly.
Chose this beautiful setting for a special anniversary dinner, unfortunately shortly after being seated a large group arrived to fill a third of the quaint dining room. They ruined a nice quiet setting along with any hope for good service. Although the food was excellent, the mood was ruined.
Lovely place especially the view. The food was outstanding..
We were outside. Great food lovely setting
Great intimate dining. Innovative menu with a delightful range of flavors and proteins! Unmatched service and quality.
Great food, excellent service by all staff, and perfect ambiance to celebrate our anniversary.
Lovely experience. My husband had the salmon which was nicely prepared. I had the snapper which was delicious but unfortunately included 3-4 bones which made it a little difficult to eat. Chef sent out a complementary appetizer as well as a pastry puff for dessert. Our server Rene was very courteous and knowledgeable. We will surely be back.
This is a warm comfortable place with wonderful views of the courtyard and Fox river. The chef created the most beautiful and tasty dishes. We had a cheese plate to start. I ordered the special, a grilled walleye and My husband had the petite fillet. It was a perfect date night.
Food was exquisite in taste and presentation. Ambiance was great as we set by the window and you could see the river rushing by! service was good and timely.
Atwood's is a quiet midway in the Herrington Inn that is a food lovers delight. Wonderful food prepared in interesting ways coupled with attentive and knowledgeable service makes Atwood's a joy to be in. Cocktails to begin were prepared exactly as we wanted with perfect taste which for a simple classic old fashion is not always the case in so many other places. We loved the pate starter. My duck was cooked precisely as order with a a sauce and rub that were not as one gets elsewhere, but was uniquely flavorful. We have been here several times in the past and this time did not disappoint.
Service was a bit slow and the temperature was very slow. Otherwise, a great place for 5 of us to meet. It is very pretty.
Beautiful Easter brunch with my senior mom! The entire staff (bellman, host, hostess, wait staff) were gracious and welcoming. Wonderful dining experience.
Food and service were excellent.
Robert is a great server.
Excellent evening for Anniversary
Great tableside manner
Deserving of the title “dramatic dining”
Amazing restaurant with great views and a first rate staff!
Perfect location for a breakfast date. View of the river, fresh flowers on the table and plenty of privacy. Outstanding and friendly service.
Always a pleasure for a special occasion. The food and service always good. The view is lovely.
A very nice place for a business dinner. The food selection was excellent and everything tasted fresh! I would love to come back for another visit! Wait staff was very attentive and professional!
I highly recommend this restaurant!
This was our first trip to this area. The Herrington, spa, and Atwater’s were all amazing. We will definitely be returning. The bar staff were also very helpful, attentive and personable.
This place can't be beat for an intimate ambiance for special occasions and conversation. The service was fine. The portions of the scallop dinner- 3 small, and lamb "rack" dinner- 3 tiny lollipops, were appetizer sized and disappointing for the 2 men in our party. Good thing they could eat half of our generously portioned delmonico steaks- give me half for half the price please.
The food and service were outstanding - the 90 minute drive was well worth - would like to stay at the Harrington next time
Nicely furnished restaurant with relatively low noise level provides a pleasant ambience for a relaxed dinner. Food is very nicely prepared to order - presentation is excellent without excess ostentation.
I can't rave enough about the food! The chef had a tomahawk steak left from Valentine's weekend and he cooked it for us! It was the best steak I have EVER had (being a Midwest girl, that says a lot!). The crab cakes were so thick and perfect, the butternut squash soup was also dreamy! We loved the food so much we ordered room service breakfast the next morning and, wow!! Stuffed brioche French toast, southern style biscuits and gravy.. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
The service was impeccable! They are so accommodating to every need! Our server was so pleasant and sweet!
The food is expensive but, soooo worth it!
Great service. Menu is limited but whatever you order was great. There was 4 of us and everyone ordered something different and enjoyed our dinner.
Delicious food. Lovely ambiance, not too noisy even when it’s full. As a vegetarian, I would have liked more options.
This was a fantastic spot for a romantic dinner. The ambiance of the small dining room and the attentiveness of the staff led to a feeling of exclusivity that truly made for a great experience. In addition, the food was also well-prepared with great presentation. Worth the price.
Nice location and room. Food just a little above average. Expected to be wow’d a bit more for the price
I have lived in the area a long time and never knew about this hidden gem! With only 10 tables in the restaurant, you really feel like you are in a private dining room. The food and service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was quite cozy. I will definitely be going back for another special occasion! I'd love to see this place in the summer since french doors make up all the exterior walls.
Amazing staff made us feel special and welcomed. Food was fantastic! Great choice for our birthday celebration!
Excellent quality food, presented and served with the utmost attention to detail.
Our food was delicious and portions were nicely sized. Our waitress and server were very attentive. What we really appreciated the most was the quiet! We didn’t have to shout to be heard. What a pleasure! The view of the river was also a plus.
The reservation was a surprise for my parents’ 40th anniversary. The staff at The Herrington and Atwater’s assured me that they would make their dinner a memorable and special experience. They did not disappoint!! My parents were wowed by the personal touches added to their dining experience, complete with an anniversary card signed by the staff, a personal and romantic table, exceptional food that they stated was ‘out of this world’, and a quiet location so that they could have easy conversation during their meal. I am exceedingly grateful to all the staff, especially Angel, who made my parents feel as special during their stay as they are to us. Thank you!!!
Wonderful dinner. Service was outstanding....and wine recommendations were right on point!
This was our first time back since an unfortunate experience several years ago. We were drawn by Geneva Restaurant week, but the food was truly excellent and we will return.
Cozy setting! The food was absolutely amazing! The service was impeccable! We had a lovely evening- highly recommend.
We had the 3-course menu. Each course excellent (butternut squash bisque, dover sole, desserts). Service friendly and very efficient. Top marks!
