Atwater's in The Herrington
Always a fine dining experience. Classic entrees, good wine list, attentive but not hovering service. Rare to find this level of consistency today.
Great atmosphere for our anniversary dinner! Bonus of an appetizer and dessert for us to sample. Both delicious!!
Service and food outstanding.
Pricey, but the food was excellent. You definitely get what you pay for. Very quaint and intimate setting.
Great... except for the singing chicken!
Perfect location to meet friends for lunch. Highly recommend it.
Server was gracious and allowed us to sit and visit for several hours. Did not feel rushed at all. Food was great and decorations beautiful! We were greeted with someone taking our coat and umbrella. Great experience!
Incredible food. Good sized portions for fine dining.
A perfect restaurant for Christmas dinner. Beautifully decorated and elegant. Service was excellent and the food was very good. Highly recommend!
Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Just a tad pricey.
Simple elegance. Very good food. The young servers are so sweet!
It was wonderful!!!! Coming back for our 13th wedding anniversary we couldn’t have had a better evening.
Our waitress was wonderful
Once again Atwater did not disappoint. Charming and lovely for a friends get together at lunch.
WOW! We could not have been more happy with our lunch at Atwater's!! It was a week before Christmas and we had a beautiful 50 degree day in IL. Four friends were meeting to celebrate a birthday and enjoy our annual White Elephant exchange. We were seated in the gazebo on the river!! If given the chance to host an intimate affair, this is the place to be! Taylor was an amazing waitress. The food was AMAZING (The Lobster Bisque was So delicious. The Chicken Crepes were a favorite. The Seafood Risotto was also a hit). We truly could not have asked for a more Special nor Memorable lunch! Thank You SO Much!!
Two of three on the reservation were an hour late as interstate 355 was closed down while we were driving on it.
We called Atwaters and they seated one guest and were absolutely fantastic to her and gracious to me and my other client once we arrived ....more than 10 stars for courtesy and professionalism.
We started with the cheese plate. Always wonderful!! Serves 4 generously.
One had the chicken stuffed crepe. Said it was ok. A “c”.
The other had the wild mushroom tartlet. Same a c.
I had the smoked turkey /bacon club which is always an a+.
Sometimes the entrees could be served a little hotter and more savory or bit more seasoning.
Always great are the scallops, crab cakes, beef burger, and sole. Breakfasts are very good.
This is a go to place for every Special occasion or holiday. The ambiance is wonderful. Book the gazabo for a lunch or dinner. Happy eating at a beautiful spot.
I had lunch with my girlfriend & we both had the Salmon Napoleon tower which was excellent. The tower was made up of mushroom risotto, sauteed spinach & salmon with a delightful sauce. We shared a chocolate ganache cake for dessert that was absolutely yummy. Our waiter was always smiling & attentive & gave us plenty of time as we had a lot to talk about. The room is wonderful with its many windows & fireplace. A little more light would have been nice for lunch as it was a gloomy day. We had a wonderful time.
Great for a romantic dinner, or with neighbors. Quiet enough to be able to hear others. Great food and ambiance.
We had dinner at Atwater’s on a busy night, with the Christmas walk going on in town. The food was excellent, the server was excellent, the ambiance was excellent.
We have dined there in the past and we will return in the future.
My most recent visit confirmed what I already knew to be true -- this is one of what I consider to be the top two restaurants in the Tri-cities area. The ambiance is perfect. We were seated near the fireplace on a cooler early winter day with a scenic view of the Fox River opposite us. I had perhaps the most favorable filet of Dover sole I have ever been served, and my restaurant experiences include visits to Michelin 3-star establishments. My companion had stuffed French toast that left her raving. Atwater;s at The Herrington Inn in Geneva, IL is a treat to be savored.
Excellent brunch, outstanding staff
I found the menu to be limited and the portions very small. I ordered the Barrumundi and left hungry. For the price the portions are very small.
I was there with a friend to celebrate my birthday and we were treated like royalty. They even gave me a free dessert.
Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food for special occasions. Very intimate enviroment and beautiful decoractions, comfy chairs, good for conversation. Highly recommend!
Great local place, great burger, quiet dining.
Excellent food and service. Both an omnivore and a vegan were accommodated with superb food. Martini and wines were delicious. Superior service
Everything was lovely -- the ambiance, the service, the dessert. However, I made a poor selection of my entrée and was not happy with it. It was a seafood dish with rice. I found it rather soupy, tasteless, and there was only one shrimp in it. For $23.00 I expected more. The other person at the table ordered a mushroom tart and she seemed happy with her selection.
Lovely breakfast with excellent service. B&G needed extra gravy which was suggested and provided without even having to ask. Gravy needed a little more meat, but was tasty.
Southern style Benedict was just excellent.
Fruit a bit out of season, but what can you realistically expect in November?
Love the ambiance. Love the leisurely pace. Will return without a doubt and recommend to friends.
We had an amazing dinner from start to finish! We had the Cajun shrimp appetizer which was delicious! Our steak was cooked to perfection and was the beat steak I’ve had in a long time! I had the cranberry margherita and it was excellent! The service and ambiance was outstanding!
Atwater's is my "go to" place for special occasions. The Food is exceptional and the service matches. It is not for the bill squeamish. A diner for 2 with appetizers, desserts and wine can run$200 easily. That being said, the food presentation, attention to detail and attentive service makes this an ideal spot for the special occasion.
The food was great. We were there for our first anniversary and the whole staff made it feel very special. It seemed like almost everyone there was celebrating an anniversary.
Terrific food and great service! Our server was wonderful!
Great ambiance, great service.... loved our experience!
The setting is very nice, the food for the most part is good and nicely served. The lunch salmon entre was however not satisfactory. They graciously replaced it with the sole which was delicious.
This is a great hidden treasure in the Western Suburbs. Wonderful ambiance; received a warm welcome as we approached the restaurant; terrific service throughout the experience; and the food was fabulous!
From arriving we were impressed with the staff, setting and location. The menu is sparse but that was refreshing from the places that offer hundreds of choices. Our drinks were perfect and we enjoyed our starters: The pork belly appetizer was generous, a wonderful taste and would make a good entree. The Butternut soup similarly satisfying. For entrees the Grilled Shrimp and risotto was also generous. Risotto cooked perfect although under seasoned. The shrimp grilled perfect and a nice size but tasteless. The second entree was the crispy duck breast with hoisin sauce. Duck was cooked perfectly medium rare-although not crispy however the sauce was offensive in flavor. It did not have the consistency of a thick hoisin sauce but more importantly tasted rancid. I informed the wait staff who offered to prepare another entree however it would not be polite for my date to wait or eat alone while I waited for another dish. I informed them I would eat the duck and avoid the sauce so my date would not be interrupted. I later decided that I could not eat the entree and enjoyed the time with my date till she was finished. The staff and management took no action to remove the entree (half eaten) from the check or to check back on our satisfaction. I paid the bill, left a full tip and have decided to not return to here. I enjoyed eating out 3-4 days a week and was hopeful of the beautiful setting here. Alas they let us down.
A small intimate restaurant situated along the fox river in Geneva in cozy romantic atmosphere. Outdoor seating available in the summer months with views of the river. The menu offers unique selections with some favorites as well. The soft lit dinning room creates a romantic environment where quiet conversations can take place without loud ambient noise. The wine list is exceptional whether you are ordering by the glass or the bottle. Highly recommended for a quiet romantic dinner.
Fine dining and impeccable service. Always a great experience.
Evrything was top notch, from the food to the service and and some of the extras we received
