Atwater's in The Herrington
Excellent food and service. Both an omnivore and a vegan were accommodated with superb food. Martini and wines were delicious. Superior service
Everything was lovely -- the ambiance, the service, the dessert. However, I made a poor selection of my entrée and was not happy with it. It was a seafood dish with rice. I found it rather soupy, tasteless, and there was only one shrimp in it. For $23.00 I expected more. The other person at the table ordered a mushroom tart and she seemed happy with her selection.
Lovely breakfast with excellent service. B&G needed extra gravy which was suggested and provided without even having to ask. Gravy needed a little more meat, but was tasty.
Southern style Benedict was just excellent.
Fruit a bit out of season, but what can you realistically expect in November?
Love the ambiance. Love the leisurely pace. Will return without a doubt and recommend to friends.
We had an amazing dinner from start to finish! We had the Cajun shrimp appetizer which was delicious! Our steak was cooked to perfection and was the beat steak I’ve had in a long time! I had the cranberry margherita and it was excellent! The service and ambiance was outstanding!
Atwater's is my "go to" place for special occasions. The Food is exceptional and the service matches. It is not for the bill squeamish. A diner for 2 with appetizers, desserts and wine can run$200 easily. That being said, the food presentation, attention to detail and attentive service makes this an ideal spot for the special occasion.
The food was great. We were there for our first anniversary and the whole staff made it feel very special. It seemed like almost everyone there was celebrating an anniversary.
Terrific food and great service! Our server was wonderful!
Great ambiance, great service.... loved our experience!
The setting is very nice, the food for the most part is good and nicely served. The lunch salmon entre was however not satisfactory. They graciously replaced it with the sole which was delicious.
This is a great hidden treasure in the Western Suburbs. Wonderful ambiance; received a warm welcome as we approached the restaurant; terrific service throughout the experience; and the food was fabulous!
From arriving we were impressed with the staff, setting and location. The menu is sparse but that was refreshing from the places that offer hundreds of choices. Our drinks were perfect and we enjoyed our starters: The pork belly appetizer was generous, a wonderful taste and would make a good entree. The Butternut soup similarly satisfying. For entrees the Grilled Shrimp and risotto was also generous. Risotto cooked perfect although under seasoned. The shrimp grilled perfect and a nice size but tasteless. The second entree was the crispy duck breast with hoisin sauce. Duck was cooked perfectly medium rare-although not crispy however the sauce was offensive in flavor. It did not have the consistency of a thick hoisin sauce but more importantly tasted rancid. I informed the wait staff who offered to prepare another entree however it would not be polite for my date to wait or eat alone while I waited for another dish. I informed them I would eat the duck and avoid the sauce so my date would not be interrupted. I later decided that I could not eat the entree and enjoyed the time with my date till she was finished. The staff and management took no action to remove the entree (half eaten) from the check or to check back on our satisfaction. I paid the bill, left a full tip and have decided to not return to here. I enjoyed eating out 3-4 days a week and was hopeful of the beautiful setting here. Alas they let us down.
A small intimate restaurant situated along the fox river in Geneva in cozy romantic atmosphere. Outdoor seating available in the summer months with views of the river. The menu offers unique selections with some favorites as well. The soft lit dinning room creates a romantic environment where quiet conversations can take place without loud ambient noise. The wine list is exceptional whether you are ordering by the glass or the bottle. Highly recommended for a quiet romantic dinner.
Fine dining and impeccable service. Always a great experience.
Evrything was top notch, from the food to the service and and some of the extras we received
Our meals were fantastic and the filet mignon was the best we have ever had. We celebrated an anniversary and it was a perfect setting with the fireplace and waterfront were perfect. Staff and service were excellent.
Service was really good. Nice, intimate setting with low noise. Nice for conversation. Food was awesome!
The food is ok but menu is far too limited. Portions are not very generous, but prices are extremely inflated based on portions and quality. Meat eaters might enjoy it but you will pay top dollar for what you can get elsewhere for 40% lower prices.
Atwaters is the ultimate location for a special occasion dinner. The food was great & service was impeccable!
Superb, private dining in the gazebo
This is a great local find, good food, excellent service and a great view from the window tables.
I picked The Atwater for my birthday lunch with a dear friend , because it was situated in a Historical Inn and the menu looked appealing. Nestled next to the Fox River, ,the room had a fireplace going, and an outdoor patio option, but it was not patio weather on Sept 29th. I had the scallops in sweet potato puree, and a cocktail called Purple Rain. Both were delicious. My friend had the Dover sole and tomato basil soup. For dessert, I had the chocolate ganache . The staff was attentive and friendly. It was a very delightful experience.
Setting was lovely, service was excellent and the food was wonderful. All in all, it was a perfect ten.
Very nice hotel restaurant, comfortable setting, excellent service. Menu is a bit limited but ample variety; good food well presented.
My husband and I had a lovely, romantic anniversary dinner here. we were seated overlooking the river. It was beautiful and the food and cocktails were delicious as well.
Outstanding service from checking in all the way to leaving the restaurant. Thank You!
Wonderful and romantic for celebrating an engagement. Wide range of meat and seafood dishes that were all perfect! Wish the sommelier would have been available for wine selection help.
We have been here several times. Always happy to come back.
Great food and service. Celebrated anniversary. Provided nice personal touch by having a card with an anniversary message that was signed by the restaurant staff. Along with the delicious food, chef sent out special appetizer and desert that was awesome. Highly recommend!!!
Excellent restaurant. This was a repeat visit and we were not disappointed! The service was impeccable, the food was outstanding, and the setting was quiet and cozy.
We had a visit with friends from the past and this restaurant was a great choice. We mentioned our reason for getting together and the staff made our lunch very special and unhurried.
A great time was had by all and we will be back soon with other friends.
Everything was fantastic—food, wine, service, ambience. Highly recommended.
Everything was above ordinary: food, service, ambiance, friendliness of staff, and portions.
I highly recommend it.
I was here with my Mom to celebrate her 75th birthday and everything was wonderful.
Our first visit was good but could have been exceptional had there been enough servers to take care of the customers... one server had 8 plus tables just not the best for taking care of the customer.
Romantic setting on fox river. Different wine list with many imports which is fun. Service was slow on our, evening, we were seated outside and it seemed no one knew who was to take care of us. Good food, but I bet it is great on other nights. Still love the place.
It was lovely. Food was great.
Our server was the bar tender and she was busy with other things.
A limited menu selection but each dish well prepared. The filet with fennel was excellent and paired with a glass off Malbec to enhance the flavors. If you are looking for average food in high quantities this is not for you. If you like a quiet dinning experience with carefully prepared dishes i highly recommend it.
Drinks and food over priced
guiltily sub par salad was wilted
very limited selection
We loved the ambiance for the restaurant and while the food was very good, I ordered the spinach crepe. I received only one medium to small sized crepe on a bed of fresh asparagus. There was barely enough to eat and left still feeling hungry. The restaurant needs to rethink this portion - serve either one large crepe or two smaller ones. This is all it would take to rectify this situation. Thank you.
