Worst experience of my life! Will never go back!
Very nice dinner
This restaurant made my number one pet peeve. We ordered stone crab as an appetizer and our dinner. Of course our dinner arrived after eating one stone crab (within 5 minutes of receiving appetizer). For the price of this meal this is a huge mistake. We had to put our appetizer aside so that we could eat our entree while warm.
Excellent service and food
The food was unexceptional. We were disappointed. The beet appetizer we ordered was pretty tasteless and overworked. The fish was bland and the potatoes it was served with were for some reason, sweet. The steak was overdone and the ravioli was meh. The only reason we gave 2 stars was because the dessert was delicious.
Good was just ok some of the dishes were served cold
We originally sat at a table, but had trouble getting service so we moved to the bar (most people sit outside but we decided to sit inside). Maggie took care of us from there and she was absolutely awesome. The drinks she makes are not only tasty, but very pretty, too. She took excellent care of us and our meal ended up being wonderful. The bar got very busy, but she treated everyone there like they were her only customer. We’re not seafood eaters so we had the chicken and steak. Both were cooked perfectly. And the key lime dessert was delicious. The food was very good and the service was great!
Delicious, freshly prepared and unique dishes, with first class presentation. The best crab dinner I’ve ever had! Attentive wait staff was at our table at regular intervals to ask about drink refills or to remove plates. Beautifully decorated dining room with a wonderful view of the ocean.
Slowest service, took away from the dining experience, and tables weren’t half full....it took 20+ minutes to just get cocktails for 2..... table next to us waited 30 minutes for 2 drinks; the food was pretty good but after waiting an hour, we had lost our appetites And we asked to have tiki torches lit, to add to ambiance....and that seemed to be a monumental task....only 1 was lit..... and then we saw a rat!
The quality of the service and the food was simply awful. We loved our stay at Cheeca Lodge and everything outside of the restaurant was great...but there was simply nothing redeemable about the food or service. It was slow, bad, disorganized, chaotic and just made you feel uncomfortable. We ate offsite for dinner after that, as not only was the service atrocious the food was simply bad. Plating was horrible, quality of the cook was “off” completely as well. We did try them once for breakfast and they ruined that too. Waited 10 minutes for water, then waited another 45 for the food. My hard boiled eggs were soft boiled, and were not served with the toast I ordered. And, the fruit plate my husband ordered was served without the yogurt and the muffin. They said they ran out of muffins and offered an alternative that showed up 20 minutes later. When asked about the yogurt they said they simply forgot. This restaurant needs new management outside and inside the kitchen to get back to what it once was. Super disappointing.
The quality of this restaurant has significantly declined over the last few years. Once we were seated, we sat without receiving any attention for at least 10 minutes and we could tell the waitstaff was scrambling and arguing over who had our table. Everything just seemed disorganized and the hospitality and vibe has gone downhill. Strongly do not recommend. I've been dining out in Islamorada for over a decade and used to love this place but won't come again until there's a serious change in management.
Appetizers were very good. Main dish for my wife the fish was very overcooked. Service could have been better; they were not very busy.
I personal felt the food was good but the menu was very limited. The venue was nice but extremely hot as we sat outdoors. They should consider adding additional fans for these hot summer months.
Incredible service & outstanding food! Wonderful 20th anniversary dinner celebration.
I have visited this resort and restaurant several times in the last ten years. I had not been back since hurricane Irma and was eager to visit again. I had ordered the fresh catch sandwich which was snapper. The fish arrived dry and over cooked. When I told the waitress about my food she said, "what do you want me to do about it". I asked for a burger medium rare instead. The burger was cooked to a char and tasted burnt. Another person in my party said that her food was cold.
The food was good, not spectacular. The view is perfection and the service was amazing. It’s what you can expect from hotel food but the view makes it worth it!
Great view of ocean great wait staff. Will go again
The outdoor dining was romantic and beautiful. Right on the beach!! Food was great. Servers were very friendly.
The food and service were excellent. We had the swordfish and red snapper dinners. The presentation was very nice. Cocktails also were very good
The view was awesome, the fish was cooked nicely, the sides were below average.
The setting is lovely---outdoor dining with view of the beach. Service was terrible, extremely slow. I had to get up & go to hostess stand at least 3 times to ask where our waiter was. I ordered zucchini snapper ($32) & it was suppose to have a beurre blanc sauce, but instead it was some type of creamy sauce that was sweet---not at all beurre blanc. I did not send it back because by then I was starving. Didn't like the sauce & the fish was so bland. I have my doubts as to whether it was really snapper. My husband had a mixed green salad, way over priced at $16 & shrimp cocktail---which was fine. Will not go back there nor recommend it.
I answered yes to would I recommend the restaurant to others but only some others. We have some excellent seafood restaurants in the area. The food was different and very good but not necessarily better, and it was on the expensive side comparatively. The property was stunning but the restaurant itself did not meet my expectations. By the way the adjoining Italian restaurant is a joke it won’t last a year.
Nice scenery and good food.
Service was on the slow side.
Overall was pleased and would recommend.
Great food, I got the whole snapper fried. The fish was beyond fresh and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Islamorada.
Excellent service , food and ambience. There is always room to improve but in thos case isnhatlrd to think of how ;)
Suggested as the better restaurant at Cheeca lodge it was disappointing. Service was slow, lots of people from the pool walking through the eating area. Casual dining at a high price. PS MENUS were food stained.
We made a reservation and were seated. We then waited 15 minutes before anyone saw us. The bus boy asked us if our server had been by. They had not. The bus boy got us bread. We then waited another 15 minutes, and the bb came by again to ask if our server had been by. Again, he had not. So he took our drink and appetizer orders. We got our appetizers. 3 small stone crab legs and ceviche that was drowned in so much of some sauce that you couldn’t even taste the fish. Mind you, after 45 minutes there we STILL had not even seen our server and decided to leave. This place had the worst service I’ve ever had in my entire life.
The Easter Brunch left much to be desired. Also the kitchen door squeaked so much that it sounded like a screaming child.
Had a beautiful table in the garden by waters edge. Very attentive young man as a waiter. Ready for a nice night. Then unattended children started running around and through the dining area. Asked waiter if anything they could do and he said not really. Ordered Caesar salad with white anchovies. One tiny anchovy. Tomato Florentine soup clearly from a can. Short ribs and lobster ravioli, short ribs were good but lukewarm the ravioli were also lukewarm and lacked any flavor or spice. Very disappointing dish. Husband had the tangine which came with Israeli couscous rather than traditional couscous and he said it also lacked spice and was bland. Overall a VERY expensive disappointment.
Things were out of the ordinary because there was a power outage in the entire area so the restaurant got off to a rough start and service was slow but they handled it as well as they could.
You'll want to be seated outside, where the Atlantic Ocean is right there. On the grounds of the famous Cheeca Lodge, this is a special occasion choice
We waited 20 minutes to a server to arrive but once the service “glitch” was fixed we had an amazing meal. Highly recommended!
Slow service 2 hour wait for doos once we sat down at table. We had to ask for silverware during this wait time never saw the waitress understaffed and not well prepared for servicing crowds.
Host lied to us about what seating was available. We booked ahead and arrived on time to secure choice seating. Host tried to seat us as far from the sunlight and water as he could. Ruined what otherwise would have been a nice evening.
Disappointing dinner while vacationing with wife and adult daughter. The food was very well prepared, tasty, and the presentation on the plate was interesting ; however, the menu was limited, and wildly overpriced, particularly in light of the abysmal service. Great location, so perhaps one more shot next year .
We checked in for our reservation and were seated immediately but not a single person ever came to our table or acknowledged us. After 15 minutes we left.
Beautiful place! Outstanding scenery!
The service was spotty and not very professional, like you would get at TGI Friday'. My fish was overdone and under seasoned. Quality and price were a mismatch.
My husband and I went for dinner during our vacation. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable. I liked the modern feel to the restaurant, but it was a little empty. (We ate late) Overall we had a very good experience. We would recommend it!
