Atlantic Grill, Eastside Ratings and Reviews
The quality of the food is always quite good here. However, my favorite room which has windows out to third Avenue was curtained off for a private party, so the rest of the restaurant was quite dark. The sea bass sushi roll was quite tasty and very filling. My friend had a Caesar salad, which is no measure of a restaurant's chef! We lost power for a few minutes, and the restaurant was packed. Surprising for a mid week lunch. Still a quality restaurant.
We dined Sat. Nigh, busy of course. The busboys & waiters bumped into my chair constantly. I moved in as much as possible. I ordered dessert & my guests ordered coffee, they were finished w/coffee b/4 my dessert came. I didn't want it by then. Waiter took off bill & apologized. Food good as always
We had a delicious mid-day lunch at Atlantic Grill. The shrimp and lobster spring roll was wonderful and my frien’s lobster bisque and California roll were very tasty. We were able to have a pleasant conversation and the service was excellent. We will definitely return.
Gave another chance to this place who has been around for quite some time. First review wasn't good, this one unfortunately isn't better. We ordered a big seafood tower and noticed pretty much everything in there was old or low-quality. The crab claws were watery and the lobster had zero taste. The consistency of the seafood was not firm. A disaster. Very expensive place for very low quality ingredients. It was basically inedible and the cost of it exuberant. Needless to say, I am taking this place out of my list forever.
A reliably good meal and good service. However despite always arriving on time (or early) the table is never ready and generally end up having a 15 -20 min wait. Although the servers are pleasant and professional the front of house team are not as efficient or friendly
We ordered simply grilled shrimp and scallops
I thought simply grilled meant just that big was I wrong. First bite I couldn't believe the amount of garlic in the dish. I called the waiter over and his response was it was simply grilled but in some sort of garlic sauce. ( I don't remember the exact description he gave) The shrimp were tiny too!!
I have eaten there for years and never had a bad meal until now
I have been to the Atlantic Grill quite often over the past years as I always appreciated their good and well prepared seafood meals and desserts. However, yesterday our expectations were disappointed. Both as far as the meal was concerned and the service. While the Tuna was excellent, my Atlantic swordfish was spongy in texture and too salty. The highlight in a negative way was the so called chocolate fondue. This dish has been on the menu for several years and I always enjoyed it vey much. However, yesterday we were served fruit on a plate and only after trying to wave down a waiter for fifteen minutes, we were served the missing chocolate sauce - in a stainless steel condiment cup. After my very confused looks at this presentation, the waitress took the dish back to serve the sauce in another strange container that had no likeliness with a fondue dish. I would not order it again and I do not know what the chef had in mind when changing the usual presentation of a chocolate fondue. After all this is not a diner.
Although our server aimed to provide a good service and gave good wine recommendations, he repeatedly disappeared for lengths of times leaving us stranded. I am not sure if this was an off night or the current approach of a new management. Won't be back in a while - there are more consistent options in the neighborhood.
They gave one of the tables they have added but very bad located.
They also recommended a white wine which were not available in their cellars. The main course (fish) arrived before the starters (oysters).
Fish was overkooked. White bread we asked never arrived. A total disaster!!
Went there and did the lunch pre fixe at $29 a head. Was a decent value for Manhattan. Fish was fresh. Preparation was okay. Restaurant itself was a decent looking place and is good for people who are looking for a nice atmosphere. However in terms of food and value I would say that one can get much better food for half the price at ethnic places, though the ambiance, etc., would be poor obviously.
I try to eat at the Atlantic Grill when I'm in Manhattan, typically once or twice a year. On the most recent occasion I found the quality of the food, the size of the portions and the value to have decreased significantly. Perhaps this was a product of the restaurant not expecting so large a crowd. The server told us that a portion of the seating area had been closed off as Halloween typically was a slow night for the restaurant. I always order the seafood tower which has a good selection of mainly shell fish (lobster, shrimp, clams and mussels). This time it was heavy on the clams and mussels, but rather light on the more substantial shell fish. While the service is fine, the noise level is quite high and the tables rather small and very close to the neighboring tables. I'm afraid that I have had my last meal at the Atlantic Grill.
Despite the reservation, there was no table. The place was totally nuts because of Halloween. All serving staff was in costume. Really? Are we in grade school? I expect a level of professionalism year round. The second room was closed, and the one room used was so behind schedule, customers were walking around searching for their server.
Went around the corner to another place where the staff, uncostumed, was professional.
We always enjoyed the Atlantic Grill up until Sunday Brunch yesterday. The hostess seated my wife and I ...we had a reservation for 5. We alerted her that our guests would be joining us. When our guests arrived a different person, a guy at the desk said there was no reservation and we weren't there. We wasted 25 minutes sitting at separate tables waiting for each other. The wait staff and hostess apologized but damage was done. One of the entrees was served cold and they gave us the bill without asking if we wanted dessert or coffee. The place wasn't as clean as should have been...no towels in the men's room. It is a busy place, but sad to say the price/value is not what it used to be. Too bad, we had enjoyed it in the past
