Atlantic Fish Ratings and Reviews
Atmosphere was friendly and quiet enough for fun conversation and laughs. The waiter was attentive and helpful. The food was served timely and hot. All of the food was as expected - authentic, tasty, and well-presented. Would return frequently as the menu had many other choices we'd like to try.
Atlantic Fish Company is our Boston favorite for creatures of the ocean. For starters the martinis are great and, of course, so is the fish. I'm afraid though that I'm stuck on the Captains Platter, and abundance of fried fish, but oh so good. My wife is just a one fish eater and very much enjoys here choices. We live on the other ocean, the Pacific, but look forward to our visits to Boston and enjoying the Atlantic side of the menu. In our last visit we had a window table, but have dined at serveral locations including outside in the May which is a great setting on a warm spring evening. We shall return to enjoy the great fish--for me the platter.
yum yum yum
This place never disappoints and is a go-to for seafood in the Back Bay. We were there pre-theater and the staff understood and served us accordingly.
I had crab encrusted haddock - excellent. I asked and they put the sauce on the side which actually had a small downside - the fish was fine but the potatoes underneath could have used sauce (to be fair, I didn't notice there were potatoes in the dish from the menu - I'd probably have just asked them to not bring them - not much of a potato eater!)
Hubby had sea bass stew - to die for! And fried oysters (not my favorite way to serve oysters, I'm more of a raw bar kind of a gal)
The wine list was well curated - the wine sommelier was excellent, making recommendations and joking with us (the wine was a twist top and we told her the wine smelled 'corky' - I thought she was going to bust a gut giggling at us!)
We're not dessert folks so I can't comment as to them
All in all - worth it!!
I filled out the "Occasion" option while making my reservation online, something I never would had never noticed before. Upon arriving at AFC 15 minutes early, I was sat immediately at a "Date Night" table. It wasn't a big deal, but made me realize they looked closely at the reservation and made an effort towards making our night more enjoyable. All in all it was one of the best date night experiences I've had in Boston
Indifferent hosts ignored us upon arrival led to ominous start. However the welcoming and informative wait staff won us over. The sommelier was very helpful in choosing a wine with dinner. The martini with oysters as our appetizers was well done. The fish was cooked to perfection although we served as we were just finishing our appetizers.
My husband and I are visiting Boston to attend conferences.
We sought great fish & seafood in a fun, sophisticated setting.
We were also celebrating my November birthday.
I had been to Atlantic Fish before with my Boston brother and suggested we dine here. We were not disappointed!
We shared Ipswich fried clams as appetizer - crispy & delicious.
He had Atlantic salmon fillet- perfectly grilled. I had tasty, sweet seasonal Nantucket bay scallops- exquisite. A complementary lovely creme brûlée, laden with fresh berries & beautifully presented on a plate “Happy Birthday.”
Nicholas our waiter was knowledgeable, appropriately attentive
and managed it all well.
I am shocked such a "high end" restaurant can stay in business in boston and somehow serve such sub-par seafood dishes.
I reserved six seats on Open Table for a birthday celebration, which I noted in the comment section of the reservation. Upon arrival, a non-hostess seated our party. The party was seated at a five-person table. Instead of moving us to another table, a sixth seat was squeezed in.
The table ordered: cod x 2, blackened; new england clam chowder; mixed baby green salad; maine lobster roll; seafood fra diavolo; scallop/shrimp risotto; linguine + clams. When we asked the waiter for his recommendations, when debating between two options, he always recommended the more expensive dish.
I can comment on on the cod and the maine lobster roll. The cod was hammered beyond belief. There was no blackened flavor; it burned and charred rather than blackened. The sides included asparagus and potatoes. The asparagus was wilted and the potatoes were over salted. The lobster roll was average; the fries served with the roll were good.
The bill totaled greater than $250; this did not include the tip nor did anyone order dessert. With such a high total, I'd expect at least a free birthday dessert for the birthday party. Nope.
After the press from the Boston Globe and the other reviews of this restaurant, I was very reluctant to dine here. But unfortunately, it was a location requested by the birthday girls in our party.
Lump crab-cakes are back, and as good as before! I make my own lump crab-cakes and judge others' crab-cakes harshly, so two years ago when they began frying their crab-cakes and not using lump crab meat, I was sorely disappointed, but they came to Neptune (this is like coming to Jesus for seafood eateries) and all is well. The service and other dishes were as fresh and carefully prepared as always. If there was an Atlantic Fish in Austin, I'd eat less BBQ, and that's saying a lot.
Had a late lunch on Sunday afternoon and it was very enjoyable. We had a nice booth in the back of dining room so it was more comfortable with more space. The shellfish platter was very good as well as the Tuna steak and Sea Bass. The drinks and the service were also very good. I will return next time I'm in the neighborhood !
Our first time dining at Atlantic Fish and we couldn’t have had a better experience. The food was outstanding, the service excellent, and the atmosphere vibrant and fun. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for fresh, local seafood dishes. Sea Bass with lobster ravioli and fresh bay scallops were huge hits. Mouthwatering bread and desserts. Awesome, and we will be back!
Outstanding! We loved every detail at Atlantic Fish. Reservations and seating were efficient. Staff are very friendly. Rey, our waiter, was exceptional. Teams cover the tables so that items arrive and dishes are cleared swiftly. The fresh fish are just too numerous to choose from. We opted for pan-seared haddock and baked cod, both delicious and expertly prepared. Many sides are offered, and our corn pudding, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and broccoli were all perfect accompaniments. We even managed to squeeze in some key lime pie for dessert. I just love a restaurant that opens for lunch and then keeps on serving until they close, with no break. We arrived early for a 4pm Friday seating and by 6pm the place was packed. That said, we were never hurried and really enjoyed a lovely, relaxing dinner.
We choose Atlantic Fish Co. because me and my crew of 3 wanted to eat the best in local seafood. We were not disappointed. The food was fantastic and our waiter was extremely attentive. He answered questions and made suggestion. All in all a very lovely evening. The only two criticisms are slight. I like to know the price when told the daily specials or the featured wine. The wine price was a bit of a surprise. Very pricey, but well worth it.
I felt like it was a it of a factory. The food presentation was not great. I had the crab stuffed cod and a very large portion - the crab was just baked on top of the fish and a pile of red smashed potatoe on the plate. Also got the Brussels sprouts which were over cooked. The seasonal desert was berries! That is a summer desert not fall. My friend had tuna and it was cooked perfectly but not presented well. Service was fine a bit robotic though.
This was my fourth, and sadly , my last time dining at Atlantic Fish. Up until now, this was a regular dining spot on my biannual Boston visits, but no more. This past meal was lackluster in every way. From the server who couldn’t be bothered to bring us a napkin or a drink refill, to the cold corn pudding, horsey uncooked Brussels sprouts ( they brought them back and cooked them more and served us greasy hard Brussel Sprouts on the second try) . The Fish was a very small portion and mediocre tasting at best. It was our wedding anniversary , so the waiter gave us a quiz that if we got the answers we would get a free dessert; a little cheesy rather than just offering us a complementary dessert as repeat customers celebrating a special day. We “ aced” the quiz and that got us the only outstanding part of the meal, the Peppermint Ice Cream Pie ( see picture) Valet was $25, the meal was disappointing . I recommend saving the money and going elsewhere. Atlantic Fish has become a chain restaurant quality. Sad day.
I absolutely love this place and take visiting family members here for a great seafood meal, as well as celebrating my anniversary here with my boyfriend recently. It is pricey, but the food is so worth it. I would recommend making a reservation to avoid wait times, though, it is almost always packed during dinner time.
