Atkins Park - Smyrna

Kitchen open until 1AM.
Great food, fabulous service and we loved the warm ambiance!
My elderly mother looks forward to celebrating her birthday at Atkins Park every year. This has been a difficult year for everyone because of the pandemic, so it was especially important to us to help Mom have the birthday she deserved. We made the reservation for 5 pm to minimize her contact with others and we felt the staff all did a great job to help us safely enjoy the celebration. As always, food was great and service was excellent! Thanks to everyone at Atkins Park for making my Mother's birthday special!
Food was delicious. Two of us had the pecan crusted trout. I would definitely order it again. Another had the daily special - the oversized scallops and she said it was wonderful. We sat on the covered patio and it was raining very hard so it was a little loud, but not the fault of the restaurant. We were also cold sitting out there and the waiter was helpful and turn off the overhead ceiling (which turned them all off!) . Will definitely eat there again.
Very good beer selection and everyone was happy with the burgers. I was disappointed with the steak and eggs as a little over cooked and dry. No one was very happy with the margaritas, lowest ranking of any place we have been in regards to the margaritas
Marvelous food, friendly service. Overall a very good experience, will definitely be back
It was my daughter’s first time at Atkins Park. She enjoyed the chicken and waffles and the Benoits.
Dine out night with the hubby and daughter! Everything was excellent except the onion rings with daughters burger. But the great burger made up for the rings! Both the trout and snapper were excellent!
My wife and I have been to Atkins Park several times. We love it! But we always forget it's there until we look at OpenTable. We've been there for lunch, and dinner, and they never seem too busy. Last year we went there for St. Valentine's Day, this year we came for Mardi Gras. We've even brought our parents here for lunch a few times. My parents are from New Orleans, and they enjoyed the food very much!
The food is excellent, great New Orleans style flavors. For Mardi Gras this year, my wife and I ordered their special, one pound of Cajun-style boiled crawfish, and all the fixin's. I took a chance and got two pounds of boiled crawfish. They did not disappoint! We even got a dozen raw Gulf oysters, and they were excellent as well! The King Cake slice my wife and I shared at the end of our meal was perfect, just how I like it (filled with custard or Bavarian cream). All in all a great value, and a great atmosphere.
When we got to Atkins Park on Tuesday, they did not appear too busy. We had the option of dining on their outdoor veranda, or inside. Because it was a bit chilly in Smyrna that night, we elected to eat inside. Our table was nestled near the back of the house, and wasn't too close to any other table. The lighting was soft, but not too dim. I accidentally with my menu put out the tiny oil lamp they had on the the table, but we didn't suffer too much from it being too dark. Our waiter was friendly, and described the menu quite well.
If you enjoy New Orleans creole or Cajun food, Atkins Park has quite a few items to satisfy your palate. It's not overly expensive, but is quite a nice dining experience for lunch or dinner. Check OpenTable to see if they have any openings tonight, and check it out for yourself!
Valentines dinner last minute decision-
Service (Grace) and food were really good! Chef came to check on us and shared some history of the dishes (Rusty). The Trout dish was excellent and those Fried Green Tomatoes were scrumptious!
We went here for Valentines Day and it was great! Food and service were excellent!!
I would have rather sat in a different location but it was ok. Sara our server was wonderful. Did not like the grits but was given the chance to have mashed potatoes and I chose to try the grits. Other wise food was good. Oh did I tell you Sara was wonderful.
Great experience! Super friendly staff and delicious food. Since it was our first time at the restaurant, we even got a free sample of their yummy fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese and black eyed pea salsa! We will definitely be back.
The staff and service were excellent. The food was good but not quite great. I had the shrimp and grits. To be fair I judge all shrimp and grits by a local New Orleans style restaurant and that may be asking too much.
The food was delicious and on par with what we’ve come to expect from Atkins Park. It was a quiet night but the service was still good.
Tasty food at good prices. Friendly wait staff.
We made a reservation on the 30th for New Years Eve. I was surprised to get a table at 7:00. (They were getting more crowded as we were leaving.). Our whole experience was fantastic! From the greeting by the hostess, our delightful server, the wonderful food, and the atmosphere— all great! The price is reasonable. I had one of the specials that our server recommended— so yummy! We had a lovely meal close to home in a great restaurant with a great staff!
Went on Christmas and there was a prefixed dinner menu that was horrible!!! I don’t believe this was advertised on the website or open table. Food was over cooked and over priced. They gave us plastic cups to drink out of on Christmas Day!!!???
We waited 25 minutes before we finally asked if we were sitting at a table with service. A waitress finally came to our table. It took 10 minutes to get our drink and another 30 minutes to get our food. After eating our dinner we chose our dessert options. We waited another 20 minutes for that to arrive. When it arrived, i took a bite only to find meat grizzle in the cobbler. We brought this to the waitress's attention and she apologized and took the cobbler. She offered to take it away. The manager came over and offered us a pumpkin cake. She said she thought the turkey and the cobbler must have been close together. It made no sense. I was sick to my stomach the next three days after eating the meal. I drove up to have dinner with my son I wish i had chosen a different restaurant. The service and the food was not good at all.
Wanted to try while we were in the area. Dinner and atmosphere were great. Service was exceptional, John was a wonderful server! Will definitely go back!
Great twists on "common" foods. The fried green tomatoes were awesome!
Porch area very nice.
We had brunch and it was great in very phase. Our waitress, Lauren was super . Very personable and in top of things.
Wish I could say that the food at Atkins Park has improved but we were very disappointed.
We have dined at Atkins Park for many years and have always had a very pleasurable experience.
Service was great and quick. Our server made it known from the beginning that she had tables on the opposite side of the restaurant but still made an effort to take our order and get our drinks as quickly as possible. We were seated so quickly that I forgot to tell the hostess that I had a reservation through OpenTable. The food was very tasty and the pineapple mimosas were great. The only downfall was the distinct smell of smoke when entering the restaurant.
In looking for a Sunday brunch location, we were surprised that Atkins had reservations available. We were even more surprised when we saw the place nearly empty - we must have gotten really lucky, timing wise!
The service and food were excellent. I can't say enough good things about how tasty, filling, etc the food was. Our waitress, Lauren, was fantastic, regularly checking on us but not enough to be annoying. She made sure everything was prompt and kept our coffee and juice full.
A simple menu with complex tastes. Fresh food, prepared perfectly. A great meal.
The food took a very long time to be served , same with the appetizers. Three tables came in after we did but they were served first. The Greek salad had no dressing , and by the time the waiter brought it we were done eating. The waiter never came back to check on us or if we needed anything. All in all it was not a good experience.
Terrible experience. Got rid of their best burgers. Will never go back.
The host actually mocked us for booking thru Open Table. It was downhill from there. Our server had a large party inside, she should’ve never been assigned to our table. She was super friendly, when we actually saw her, which was rare. Poor dining experience all the way around.
Good service and food recommendations (Lauren); we sat outside. Steak was good, not excellent. Relaxing.
Smell of smoke is a major deterrent
We enjoyed our dining experience for Mother's Day and the manager was very accommodating.
For the 2nd time in 1 year we’ve attempted to book a table at Atkins Park for a holiday. On both occasions our experience was poor.
Last year, we were not seated until well over 30 minutes after our reservation. And the lunch experience took almost two hours. Quite a train wreck with children between the ages of 7 and 10.
Today (Easter), we had reservations at 1:00...showed up a little early... and were assured we would be seated “soon”. No worries. After 15 minutes, we were told 5 more minutes. And finally, after 30 minutes we gave up our reservation and left the restaurant. We had a wonderful lunch at Willy’s.
On holidays, I understand there are challenges, but the real problem was the communication, which was very bad. We left because after 30 minutes of waiting for a 1:00 reservation, the staff said they could seat us, but to be prepared for significant delays ordering and receiving our food. They could have saved many of us a ton of time and heartache by communicating effectively. Most of the staff just stared at the screen. None of the three apologized or owned the delays.
We’ve loved Atkins Park for over a decade. But will likely NOT go back for any kind of special occasion or holiday. The staff has shown they are ill prepared to manage and execute. And unfortunately, seem to not understand that if they communicate they could have kept us at the restaurant.
I could write a lot about how poor this place is across the board. Simply, save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to eat.
We made reservations for Easter brunch at 12pm. We waited over 15 minutes till a server greeted us only after we said something to the hostess. After waiting over an hour to get our food, they were out of half the stuff we ordered and gave us a run around of how they were short staffed. It was a less than enjoyable meal and if I could rate it less than one star I would because the food & service was so terriable on a holiday. Won’t be returning ever again!
For some reason, we keep giving Atkins Park another chance. And EVERY SINGLE TIME, it's awful. The restaurant opened at 11am on Sunday. We had a reservation for 8 people (5 adults, 3 children) at 11:15am.
We arrived early at 11:05 and they seated us, which was nice. But from that point on, everything was terrible.
Let me start by acknowledging that it was Easter. HOWEVER, Atkins Park knew exactly what day it was, knew exactly how many people to expect in their restaurant thanks to reservations, and thus, knew EXACTLY how many staff they should have on duty.
At 11:10 (5 minutes after we were seated), we were told our waitress was "behind", so someone else would get our drinks. How on earth are you behind when you just opened up 10 minutes before??
When our drinks arrived at 11:20, the waitress wasn't ready for us to order, but we insisted. We had 3 children with us and didn't want to wait too long for their food.
When we finally received our baskets of biscuits at 11:25, every single one of them was burned on the bottom. We never received replacements.
At NOON, AFTER my husband asked (no explanation was offered before that), we were told our food was "being finished up".
At 12:15 (yes, an HOUR & TEN MINUTES after being seated), our food finally arrived. My grits were dry and cold. My "scrambled" eggs looked like they'd been poured into a skillet & just left - they were a solid mass of egg that was burned on one side. My friend's chicken & waffles were stone cold. Not an ounce of warmth.
The manager replaced the chicken & waffles (within 2 minutes, so obviously they stole from someone else's order), but I told her never mind on mine.
There was NO offer to comp ANYTHING on our bill. My husband and our friend told the manager they expected something in response to the horrific service and wait time. She came back with 20% off...after they waited for FIFTEEN minutes. What a low-ball offer after what we'd put up with! But the guys gave up, paid, and walked out.
Server was nice but took a long time to get food. Then food was subpar. Was not pleased. At first was planning to return for dinner but after this brunch visit, changed my mind.
Easter brunch. It was not up to the standard I have experienced there many other times.
Good food at reasonable prices. Wish they had a specialty cocktail menu.
Smoke stench from the bar area was awful! Food was ok not great— fries were limp & soggy. Won’t go back anytime soon.
