Atkins Park - Smyrna
There is no better place to enjoy brunch on the patio or dinner with the family. Plus, you can always count on a late night drink! Atkins Park in Smyrna has something to offer everyone, and is located in the beautiful Market Village.
We started off with the not so dynamite shrimp. The fried shrimp was only warm when served. The jumbo shrimp were ooh a medium size...definitely not jumbo. The flavor was mild but the sauce had a bit of a kick to it.
My Park burger was cooked perfectly and was good but I've had a better grilled burger with a smoky flavor down the street on South Cobb and the East West Connector.
The atmosphere was lovely sitting on the patio on a nice spring day.
The waitress was very enthusiastic and pleasant and the NJ oise level was low on this day.
I have eaten here several times and the lemon chicken has 100x more flavor than the burger or shrimp.
I will go back for one of the more flavorful dishes.
The dish I like best was the dessert: The Pecan Square with Ice Cream. It was delicious. It took a long time for it to be served however. The servers were pleasant, but service was slow at times.
I had the she-crab soup. It was good, but it was lukewarm when served. I think Atkins Park- Symrna is nice; a convenient location. I would recommend it to someone, but I would be more assertive next visit
in requesting, for instance, that my soup be returned to the kitchen and warmed. Not hot food is one of my pet peeves.
Great service - Thanks, Brittany. Business lunch. Pita & burger. Side of o-rings. All standard pub favorites and acceptably done. Love that they use OT for reservations-we secured a great table during a busy lunch period.
Not for lunch anyway... server was not the most attentive, nor helpful, it was not busy at all (maybe 3 tables), asked for desert menu and she brings 1 for a table of 4 adults. Food was decent but not the best.
This was my first trip to Atkins Park. I took clients to lunch and wanted something different that I hadn't tried before. Atkins Park did not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. The place has a flare for New Orleans cuisine. I had the Gumbo soup and it was AMAZINGLY good (and I order it whenever I see it on the menu). I also had the Lemon Pepper chicken and that too was excellent. My clients enjoyed their meals.
Service was outstanding. Friendly without being over-the-top. When we told her it was our first time there she gave us free samples of their popular fried-green-tomato appetizer. very nice.
I would go back. The only issue I have now is that I enjoyed what i ordered so much that it may be hard to try something else on the menu.... but that's what friends are for...right?
John was our server and he was amazing!!! We have been here twice, both times he waited on us, the food is wonderful and the atmosphere is beautiful!! We will be back!!!
Great food and service. John is the best waiter!
The smell of smoke was disheartening and a bit much. Otherwise the dining side was pleasant. I loved the idea that we could sit by the fire. We had a great server (based on his attention to our table).
Brunch for my daughters birthday was so nice on the patio. Everyone had something different and it was delicious. Wings and shrimp po boy. Reasonable prices. Will definitely be back
The last 2 times I brought guests to the restaurant there were several items on the menu that were unavailable which was a disappointment. More planning for busy times.
The food was decent, the service adequate but there is cigarette smoke everywhere. Bar allows it and it seeps into the dining room. Just ok but other choices make this seem more of a disappointment for a night out.
Has gone downhill used to be our favorite but I brought my fiancé for his bday and was very disappointed
We’ve been here many times. This times was a bust. Waitress was sloooooow, unfriendly, not accommodating. Food took forever. Soup was cold and watery. Other food was ok. Will come back but will avoid this waitress.
We went there for a relaxing Sunday brunch. We asked for a grilled shrimp rather than blackened and what was provided had some seasoning on it that we didn’t recognize. We didn’t see our waiter to make him aware so just had to deal with it. Never got drink refills either. Had to ask hostess for the check. They took off the shrimp and grits to make up for the poor service which we appreciate. But we would have preferred to get the service that Atkins Park has provided in prior visits.
The food took to long and the salad was over dressed
I went there with 2 other people on Saturday, early evening. It was not crowded at all. Our drinks came fairly promptly but we had to ask for bread to be brought to the table. It took a long time between ordering and receiving our meals, especially given how slow the restaurant was. I ordered beef short ribs and, like another reviewer noted, it was essentially pot roast slices. The polenta it was served with was very grainy - I could not eat it. My son ordered the drunken pork tenderloin with grits and it was a better option. We also ordered dessert, and again it was a long wait between ordering and receiving. The caramel crunch cake was good and the peanut butter biscuit pudding is a good option for anyone who loves Reese's peanut butter cups. Overall, I think the food was just fair for the price and service.
Food was great, waitstaff were fabulous; a great anniversary celebration!!
It was unpleasant to walk past a Smokey Bar to sit in a really nice restaurant, have a great meal with great service, and have to walk through smoke again to leave.
This was my first time at Atkins Park Tavern. I picked it for its location in the Smyrna Town Center. My first impression was that it was dark inside and smelled old/smoky. We sat outside on the patio for brunch, which was scenic and just cool enough with a breeze. The server brought water right away and was very personable, but the meal service was slow. We never got the appetizer we ordered. The brunch entrees were ok, nothing special. The french toast was especially lackluster with no sauce or garnish. We had to ask for syrup.
Worst Reuben sandwich I have ever have
Second time to this location. Poor service both times.
Went to Sunday brunch for second time within a month, myself and a friend. First time good overall, above average server, food good, although took a long time to come. This time seated quickly next to 3 tables that had finished eating but were still seated. After 15 min. no server had appeared anywhere in the area, either to wait on us or any of the other tables nearby. Few minutes later a guy and a girl with Atkins Park shirts started clearing a nearby table. I went over and said no one appeared to be waiting on our table. The guy kind of smartly replied "We're your waiters. We'll be there in a few minutes." and went back to clearing the table with the girl. People at two of the nearby tables said they felt sorry for us that the service was terrible and we would be there all day.
I went up to the front area and told the person that seated us that we were moving because we didn't have all day to wait there. She resisted some but finally agreed to seat us on the front outside area. After 5-7 minutes a server arrived and asked for our drink order. We told him we were ready to order meal and everything, so we did. We also asked for the homemade biscuits and homemade peach jam that were advertised on the menu. In a reasonable amount of time, our food order came, delivered by someone else, not the server. After 15-20 minutes, when we had almost finished our food, our original server appeared with biscuits and packets of apple jelly. When I asked about the peach jam, he had no idea what I was talking about.
The people at the table beside us were complaining to their server about the french toast order being only one piece of bread, sliced in two and also that the side orders they asked for were not included. The response from their server was, "Maybe we can comp a dessert for you", not that they would fix the problem.
Overall food not bad, but doubt I'll go there again.
Service was terrible! The hostess told us that she couldn’t seat us because she had “to do something.” We waited an hour for our dinner even though there were several empty tables. There was a fly in my beer. The sliced jalapeños were bigger than any chips on our $16 plate of nachos. The “BBQ” shrimp po boy had NO flavor except to taste like microwaved frozen shrimp! SO BAD!!!
I really like Atkins Park for lunch. Great selections for healthy eaters and those who like more decadent foods. Here, you go for the food, NOT the service. After visiting 3 times in 8 weeks, poor service was not a fluke on one visit - seems to be the norm. Management needs to step in and take note, and make serious adjustments. Please turn a nice restaurant with good food into a good experience all around.
Food was great, service took longer than expected but their customer focus was exceptional
Very disappointed. Restaurant is going downhill. Not prepared for Mother’s Day at 3:30 pm. Hostess was not welcoming and told us immediately we couldn’t order Bunch before sitting us at a table. Restaurant was fairly empty and squeezed 6 of us (4 elderly) next to a family where we had no room to move our chairs. It took them 20 mins to get us water. When we went to place our meal order, we were told they didn’t have white bread for sandwiches and buns for burgers. Silverware was plastic. The meal took over an hour before we got it. Also, they didn’t have two of their highly recommended desserts. After ordering desserts, one person’s dessert came 20mins before the rest of the table. The only positive experience was our waitress that was fairly new. If it wasn’t for her, we would have gone somewhere else to eat.
We have always loved coming here, and for the past few years this has been our destination for Mother's Day. This Mother's Day we had a 1:15 p.m. reservation. We were seated promptly, but at an incredibly tiny table for our party of 6. Our orders were taken in a timely manner. However, we asked the waitress for biscuits, which never came. We ordered the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer, but it took them 40 minutes to arrive to our table. My wife then asked the hostess if we could expedite the kids' order, to which she was met with an abrupt and curt "no". After about 50 minutes the manager came up to me and informed me that they were out of the turkey burgers I ordered. We then got up and left. As we were leaving I overheard the same hostess blame the kitchen staff, to which she didn't miss the opportunity to man bash them.
While we were waiting we noticed dust and grime all along the walls of the bar area.
It's a shame because this was a favorite of ours and we don't ever want to go back.
Poor Mother's Day experience. We waited for over an hour in a half before we decided to leave. They were already out of bread and it was 1pm. The employees were unhelpful, everybody seemed confused and the manager (Adam) would not accomdate us in any other way. An employee served a table with syrup all over her hands. When we asked how much longer it would be the response was "I'm not sure." When we informed them that we were leaving the response was "I understand, bye." The lady at check in was more worried about her smoke break than helping follow patrons out. Lighter in one hand and a cig in the other.
not a good experience at all. sad to see the quality has gone down, used to love the brunch there.
OK, listen, I know this was mothers day, but LORD, this was a pretty terrible experience. First off, we had a table for 6, and our server brought us 4 waters. And like, didn't bring two more, just like, left 4 waters. Then, after sitting for 10 mins, he came back to take our drink orders. Another 10 mins go by and we finally get them, but he had forgotten one of our drinks. Another 10 mins goes by and we finally get to place our food order. Now, we specifically chose this place because while my girlfriend and I eat vegan, our parents do not, and the menu seemed to accommodate everyone. Well, they didn't have the black bean burgers, thus leaving limited options for us. So, we ordered some sides and appetizers without cheese, still hoping at least our parents would get a decent meal. This was at 1pm for a 12:30 reservation. The patio and inside were not super slammed, as their were more than a few empty tables at the restaurant. The table next to us, who ordered after us, got their food way before us. My girlfriend asked for a mimosa with grapefruit juice as opposed to OJ, and was brought a regular mimosa, with OJ, and not grapefruit juice. At 2pm, they brought out ONE of our parties meal. At 2:30, our food finally came out, with even the servers making "finally" jokes, but, of course, all the items we had asked for without cheese were slathered in cheese. After a two hour time investment only to get the wrong, or cold food. We decided to cut our losses and just return the food and go to Moes next door instead. The whole patio looked miserable as we were, with a couple other tables just cancelling their order. We still were charged $42 for drinks, which was fine, I guess. I doubt we'll be going back again, too much of a gamble.
We went on Mother’s Day and they were apparently not prepared. The food took 45 minutes after we ordered. While most of it was tasty, the hash browns and some other items were cold. Really quite disappointing for a rather pricey meal.
We've been to Atkins Park multiple times, and the food, as always, was top notch. It was well prepared and very tasty. The issue was the service. While I understand it was Mothers' Day, it took us over an hour to get our food. We had to ask multiple times to get the biscuits we were supposed to have as part of our meal. My wife was supposed to receive a rose as part of the meal, and I had to go back inside to get it before we left as it was never brought to the table. I can only assume it was our server as no other sections seemed to be having similar problems, and I don't know if it was her being new or her not asking for help as there were others helping expedite orders for other tables. In addition, we had to send my wife's food back to be redone as it arrived at the table cold.
As well, when we asked the gentlemen who came to refill my wife's coffee about the biscuits, he told us our server would take care of that. When I noted that would involve us seeing our server, his tone became rather condescending as he noted it was Mothers' Day and very busy. His tone was absolutely incorrect for the situation and left a very sour note on the interaction.
Enjoyable Mother's Day brunch at a reasonable price - thanks!
We arrived at 11:15am Sunday for brunch. We were one of the first tables seated. At 20 minutes, NO ONE had come to our table. My husband had to ask the front desk for someone. At 30 minutes, we finally got drinks. I had ordered coffee, but was given no sugar. At 40 minutes, I finally got someone to bring me some sugar, but by then, my coffee was cold. No one ever offered a refill. I had to ask. At 50 minutes, we asked for bread because it hadn't come (even though it's included) and we had no food. At 58 minutes, we finally received our food. Let me state this - we hadn't ordered any kind of meat or anything that would take a long time. My kids had macaroni & cheese and my husband & I had French toast. My French toast arrived so cold, it had started to harden, so I didn't eat it. (And I am NOT a picky eater.) The server DID offer to replace it, but I wasn't about to wait another 50 minutes for food. We had to ask TWICE for the ice cream included in our kids' meals. When the server brought the bill, she didn't even offer to take anything off it. My husband had to ask for the manager. His response? "Well, it's Mother's Day. It's busy." My husband: "Yes, and you KNEW it was Mother's Day. You KNEW exactly how many reservations you had and should have known how many staff you needed to handle it. Not to mention that there were literally only 4 other tables seated when we came in." The manager finally gave in and gave us a % off our bill. Still not worth it. So disgusted by our visit. We won't be back.
Very tired and slow service. Do better.
The restaurant seemed dirty, the service was slow (and there were only a handful of tables dining at the time), there was not a changing table in the restroom (and that was yucky too), and the food was just okay. I don't think my meal was cooked all the way. Disappointing because I love the location of the restaurant, but it needs some TLC. I'm sure they are making a lot on late night boozers since they are open till 4am, but the food used to be a good reason to go as well.
We visited on a rainy Sunday, so we weren't able to sit outside, but the outdoor area looks nice. The interior ambiance is cozy and comfortable. The bar feels much more casual than the bar area.
It was a bummer that because of some kitchen issue, they weren't serving any breakfast/brunch menu items, only lunch. We both ordered burgers, and they were pretty good. The she crab soup had no pieces of crab and was kind of spicier than I expected, not my favorite. Non-alcoholic beverage glasses are huge, which is great.
Our server was a bit of a joker and a little awkward. No biggie. I'd probably go back, since it's in Smyrna and I like good options here in Cobb.
I always enjoy Atkins Park - consistently good food and service. Lots of menu items to choose from, something for everyone.
Let me start my review by saying I have eaten here a number of times and had great experiences. But they really had a hot-mess on Easter Sunday brunch. Despite having a reservation, the wait was till over 30 minutes. Service was a slow and a number of people at surrounding tables were very upset with their service and food. Our food was excellent but it was clear they were not at their best on Easter Sunday brunch - a day when you really want to shine. I will eat there again but i wont be foolish enough to go on a big holiday like Easter or Mother's Day when they seem to struggle with the bigger crowd.
