The food was wonderful. Terrific calamari and saganaki. The main dishes were generous and full of flavor.
As an artist I particularly enjoyed the Grecian relief sculptures adorning the north wall.

Athena is one of our favorite restaurants in Greektown, if not Chicago. I ordered the chicken and it was the most tender chicken I've ever had, I didn't even need my knife to cut it from the bone. The greek potatoes were lemony delicious. My sister in law ordered the beef and it was also prepared perfectly and looked beautiful. Once again, Athena delivers the best Greek food in Greektown!

It was nice, food was excellent as usual server was very kind. Only 4 stars on this part because I felt we had to hunt him down a couple times (and it wasn’t busy). At one point we couldn’t get anyone’s attention so we just got up and went and got our own spoon. I mean, it’s no big deal but would have been nice to be able to get someone’s attention.
Made a reservation for a table in case my friends and I could not find seats at the bar. The bar was practically empty and the bartender was nice enough to allow me to pull an extra chair to the other side of a column so we could all be together. We all had drinks, I opted for red wine, and we shared the saganaki, dips with bread, octopus, and the baklava cheesecake. I relied heavily on our bartender to make recommendations and they were all decent. I quite like this place as a meet up spot after work and plan to be back.

I love Athena. The best server is Socrates! I've had him several times. He has worked there forever and if you ask, he'll guide you to the best dish for you.
Love this place! Their atrium is a wonderful light setting in the middle of winter!

I was meeting some friends for lunch and I didn't want a dark and closed in restaurant. Athena is located conveniently in Greektown with easy access for suburbanites and city people, with free valet parking. The restaurant is a bright, glass roofed space. The food is classic Greek with something for everyone.

Athena was an amazing restaurant with a great view on the inside and out! Great atmosphere and our waiter was hilarious and fun! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Greek food and for those who want to try it!
Yummy, traditional Greek food. The restaurant has lost its quaint charm, but still a wonderful experience.
My friends and I used to LOVE this restaurant, but the menu changed, and the quality of the food seemed to lack the same great flavor and quality I was used to. It's still a beautiful space, but the experience wasn't the same at all. The appetizers were good. But the main dishes either were not good at all, or just okay. Maybe it was a bad night, but we probably won't be back sorry to say.

The lamb was beautiful, the saganaki bountiful, and the baklava the best anywhere. The service was cheerful and sharp. The taramousalata, though, was too starchy, and the noise level is daunting. But I'll be back.
it was "fine". Not bad, not phenomenal. Perhaps my server's distracted attitude, followed by his overcompensation to please ( because I complained to the front desk) may have affected our experience. NOISY place.

MY server was awful. I did not appreciate the initial 'dismissive tone', and that he forgot my order.......and then he HUGELY overcompensated by hovering and annoying questions.

Beautiful patio, delicious food. Waiter was impatient and rude. We were celebrating our anniversary. The waiter kept coming up to us to get our main entree order. I asked him to come back in 10 minutes as we were having drinks and apps first. He rudely said that it was a Saturday night and that he needs to take my order now. He just wanted to flip tables. He commented on how much I had eaten later during the entree. Then stood around when we were clearly finished and waiting for the check. Very disappointed with the service. Hostesses were sweet and accommodating.
On a recent trip to Chicago, I found this restaurant highly rated on several different websites. We went on a Monday evening about 8:00 and there was no wait. Loved how open the place was and the evening was perfect in Chicago so they had all the windows open. Our waiter was great...very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The Dolmades were a great starter for the table...the lemon sauce was AMAZING. I had the Koto Riganati (roasted chicken w/potatoes in olive oil & oregano)...it was good but nothing special. One of my girlfriends had the Spanakopita...delicious! Another friend had the Gemisto Kotopoulo….very good but like the Koto Riganati, I felt the chicken was dry. But overall this place was really good!
