Great restaurant. Innovative food, different textures, tastes. Everything was exquisite!! Staff very friendly. Spectacular night!
Most of the ingredients are my favorites, including caviar, sea urchin, foie gras, truffle. The taste of yuzu and lime in appetizers are also my loves!
We visited our daughter in New York and booked this restaurant about 3 weeks in advance. We had chef's tasting menu and I also order the wine pairing. From appetizers, there are lots of creative dishes - egg custard, uni and truffle ... combination of textures made them very enjoyable. For main dish, halibut with dash tapioca is tasty, beef with mushroom is perfectly cooked and duck breast with pear is also well prepared. The atmosphere is great, you can see the preparation in open kitchen and waiting staff is responsive. Overall noise level is moderate.
The food at Atera was amazing, the service friendly and attentive. Great degustation menu.
It was a great experience!
Food was excellent, every dish was like discovering new flavors through every bite. The wine pairing was also great, the wines were different, and complex, good choice for the food.
I will try to comeback to have the experience in another season!
The dining experience was intimate with 6 couples seated around a U-shaped bar that bordered the kitchen. The entire evening was a production, like watching a play, where the waitstaff’s movements were choreographed to perfection. The food was definitely worthy of its 2-Michelin stars. However, the specialize in cooking meat exceptionally well, so the vegan experience is far less impressive. Highly recommend to anyone marking an occasion worth celebrating. We paired dinner with wine and temperance and landed at just over $1000 for 2 people.
Extraordinary food and service - highly creative food - simply excellent.
Unbelievably fabulous- service, food, ambiance, attentiveness, taste, flavor, attention to detail, responsiveness and anticipation of staff- can’t stop raving about the Atera experience
One of the Atera’s team members described Chef Ronny Emborg as a mad genius and being wowed by him over 17 courses, I have to agree. The Danish born Emborg has managed to put together a tasting menu that never repeats itself and has no single style. It is indescribably delicious and surprising and presented in an unique manner. The restaurant is small with no more than 18 seats per serving. Mostly everyone sits at a bar that surrounds the kitchen where all the food is prepared for serving. The cooking team is relatively small and supervised directly by Emborg, who provides a quiet, dignified yet exacting presence. There is no where to hide, no way that a service flaw will go unnoticed and that adds up to a perfect meal, or as close to it as you can get.
The food is among the best we have ever eaten. It is right there with Chicago’s Alinea and Joel Robuchon’s Mansion in Las Vegas. Who would combine Kaluga Caviar with pistachio sorbet and beer cream or place foie gras and quince on a waffle. Every inspired combination worked perfectly. This is 3 Michelin Star food at every turn, paired exquisitely with wine by the glass or a pairing, however you choose. There is no one style, with courses borrowing from across the world. Even the desserts pleasantly surprise with the sweet tones augmented by herbaceous elements. The meal is expensive, even by NYC standards, but worth every dollar. When you have an opportunity to experience the absolute best, you go for it. Give this restaurant their third Michelin Star!
Amazing food, unique choices, service that was incredibly attentive.
18 bite-sized courses which ran the gamut from caviar to foie gras to beef tenderloin to 4 different desserts left me feeling fully satiated. Service was top notch in every respect. Highly recommend.
The overall experience made for a wonderful evening out, especially to celebrate a special occasion. The ambiance was pleasantly unexpected, as you're seated with a front row view of the full kitchen and it's staff artfully crafting each dish as it's plated and served to you and each of your fellow diners (18 seats in the whole joint keeps it intimate!). The playlist was on-point with an amazing lineup of 70's & classic rock, covers and surprises that added to the ambiance. The service couldn't have been more warm, welcoming and on-point with their level of detail and attentiveness. And all that before I get to the food - it was a surprising, refreshing and dare say simple menu that featured the flavors of the fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared and with unexpected pairings that left you wanting to lick the plate clean. The chef's Danish heritage and influences certainly came through in the simple & clean yet artful & delectable dishes he masterfully crafted. We had quite a lot of dietary restrictions to accommodate and they didn't hesitate to address every single one of them, to ensure we had both a delicious evening.
Amazing. I will Definately visit again.
Top class food , every dish was as good as the last couldn’t choose which was my favourite. Service was faultless made to feel right at home and not a stone left unturned. A special meal
The food is impeccable as is the service and ambiance. It is well worth the time and money.
Amazing friendly service, the best langoustine and tenderloin ever, and great music! Had such a great time with my friends! Can't wait to go back again.
A truly great meal
We spent about 2.5 hours at the 9:30 seating last Saturday night. Food was amazing -- highly creative cuisine, absolutely delicious with lots of contrasts in flavor, texture, and temperature. My wife and I each had our individual favorites, but there were no duds anywhere on the 16-course menu. Presentations were beautifully composed, and the restaurant operates like a finely tuned machine. Hard to imagine a better coordinated team.
This is arguably one of the best meals that we have ever had anywhere in the world. We will definitely try to return next time we are in NYC.
Atera’s experience is always outstanding, warm and memorable... it’s what 3 michelin stars should be but even better... by far the best restaurant in NYC
Absolutely amazing experience with, what felt like, a chef's table dining.
Each course unique and different making a favourite different to decide on.
High levels of attentive staff pacing the 12 course tasting menu.
Not cheap, but much better than some long standing higher Michelin rated restaurants and worth the money.
The service is sensational and the food is just as incredible. The combinations of flavors and textures are wonderful. They use the foods and flavors that are in season to keep everything fresh. You get personal one on one attention from all the staff that really makes this place stand out and above from all the rest.
The food and whole experience was spectacular
The entire team led by Matthew and Rachel (along with another gentleman) did a superb job in helping us celebrate our special night out. We enjoy returning every so often to see what changes have been made to the menu and were sad to hear that the tea ceremony/show was no longer available. Excellent service and very good food.
Phenomenal dining experience! Loved every dish - really creative cooking.
Service was exceptional.
They really want to please, and they did!
Can't wait to go back.
Simply the best 2 stars with 3 stars experience! Perfect
Outstanding best restaurant I’ve been to in a long time! Same food quality if not better than Le Bernardin, Per Se, and definitely Eleven Madison Park. Plus the atmosphere is much less stuffy and more fun. Can’t wait to go again! Side tip for ladies: staff is hot. 5 stars!
Celebrated my friend’s birthday and it was the perfect place to do it. Fantastic food and very welcoming crew! It’s like going to an opera and you get front row seats! You get to watch all the performers up close.
Very well balanced menu, slick service and wonderful presentation. I would recommend it if you can get a reservation.
Outstanding food, artistically presented, expertly served. Every aspect of the experience was perfect. Could not have been happier
Service, food, wine and presentation all above and beyond.
We went there for our anniversary. They were incredibly accommodating and we had one of the best dinning experiences ever. The food was impressively high quality and the service was nothing short of perfect. We’ll definitely be back.
Amazing food. Amazing service. Friendly down to earth staff.
Visited this place on 8/23. I might be wrong but I feel the food was not as good as before ( compared with last year). Last year it was mind-blowing good. This year is just good. Kinda hesitate if I should come back in 2020. Really wish I could have sth parallel to 2018 experiences.
Hands down the best restaurant in NYC right now.
One of the best restaurants in NYC. Fantastic wine list. Well paced. Flawless service. Outstanding.
Dinner was amazing!!! Great service and excellent creative dishes!!! I highly recommend it!! We all loved it!!
Second visit to Atera and we will be back every time in NYC. The food, service and ambiance is wonderful. All of the staff is very helpful and attentive.
Dinner here wasn’t just a meal, it was an experience of a lifetime. From the depth of flavors, different textures, and presentation, every detail was that of art. If you’ve ever been curious to know what poetry would taste like, Chef Ronny can plate that for you lol Big thanks to everyone at Atera for welcoming me and providing me with memories that I will cherish forever.
