Food is always excellent and service is fantastic
Great little neighborhood restaurant with resemble but very good Japanese good
Gone to Atami for years - great food great price friendly service as good as any sushi in N Y
Very good and fresh sushi!! I'll definitely be back for more!!
Best sushi in manhattan!
I am revising my review because I went there a second time and the sushi lover roll is really good. No rice, lot of fresh salmon and avocado! I did not use their sauce, it did not work well with it, which was already amazing as it was. I will be back soon to get another! the place it is not perfect but the value is good!
From the starters, the slices of salmon partially grilled dish was really good!
Overall Thumbs up!
Very bad ambiance. Old tables, old and broken dinnerwear.
Good soup and sushi. Service was good and the place was clean.
Based upon reviews we tried this restaurant. The food and service were ok. The rest of the experience was disappointing.
This was our first and last time here. Again, based on the reviews we expected a warm welcome and smiles...but when we walked in we were not even greeted and felt like we were intruding , although the place was empty. It is clearly a delivery favorite . We were given a tiny table right near to the phone. For the majority of our meal the hostess spoke with a regular who chatted loudly while waiting for his food.
The food was ok and the service was too fast and overrode our first course. The interior of the restaurant might have been nice once and has been sadly neglected, plus the overhead TV with a hockey game competed with the horrible piped in music.
The price was reasonable , but we would have been happy to pay more for a better experience. We will not be back.
Atami Japanese provides good staple Japanese food. Good sushi choices and kitchen items. We had the Salmon Skin salad which I've never seen offered anywhere and it was delicious. Highly recommend it.
Wonderful casual Japanese restaurant. I order in and eat there weekly!
Saw it was 4 stars so decided to try it out. Definitely not 4 stars, sorry Atami
Good food, it was empty in there!
From the outside, the restaurant may look like one of non-Japanese sushi places, so our expectations were not high at the beginning. However, it was much better than expected and we will definitely go back. I mean we can get good sushi if we pay premium, but we can get good quality sushi at Atami for relatively reasonably. The service is very good as well.
We very much enjoyed the food there. I will definitely come again. Prices are very attractive. Great place to have dinner in NYC.
Solid Japanese food at affordable price. Apparently is more of a takeout place as the delivery people constantly came in and out through the dining room every 5 to 7 minutes. Kid friendly as it was not very crowded and was very informal. No wow factor at all
Reading reviews I thought I was in for a treat. The place is ultra small and in dire need of a makeover. The Sushi was just average and there are so many better places to go to. All in all, skip this place and you won't be missing much
the quality of the sashimi, sushi and rolls well exceeds the price for the lunch offers. Highly recommended.
I stopped in for lunch, restaurant is small and crowded. Very creative menu for rolls and sushi and sashimi was extremely fresh. Preperation was excellent. I will definitely go back.
My wife and I grabbed dinner here the other night...The server was friendly and efficient...we were hungry and ordered appetizers with our drinks and they were out in less than 5 minutes. Our sushi was also made quickly and when we ordered a bit more, again it all went very smoothly. 2 beers each, starters and a fair amount of sushi ran us $85 with tip, which seems pretty reasonable. The rolls themselves are imaginative. I cannot say that the quality of the fish is superior...but again, for the price, it is very reasonable. This is a good, solid neighborhood joint, would try it again sometime.
We were early so it was very quiet initially but several tables filled up while we were there. Sushi and sashimi was excellent and portions were generous for NYC. Not a hip or upscale place which means it's perfect for us!
Sushi was excellent, a little hard to find but good.
Decent for the location. Came here before a movie.
Just in NY to do a bit of weekend wandering. No prior knowledge of the area or restaurant - did an OpenTable lookup based on proximity, review scan, and picked. Hit the spot perfectly.. small, quiet, friendly, good food, good value, pleasant atmosphere - just a very nice spot. Would recommend and would return. Now on our restaurant list of 'would go back'....
We just moved into the neighborhood and have been looking for our new favorite sushi spot. We have found it! Great food and very courteous service. You must try it!
We were so surprised how great this little place is. The service was great, the food and presentation was awesome.
Good food, great price, fresh fish , come on .. What more can you ask for. Must go places in upper east side
Lots of good food there, their lunch is very ideal, $9 for a bento box and you get a whole entree size food. Sushi is very fresh and the qualities are top of the line. Definitely will come back again with friends
Has a very good dinner here - the bento box is a real value - ambiance very pleasant, service was very good and food delicious - will be back.
It was great! Close by the neighborhood. Service was great, not pushy or rushed. Food was amazing for a great price!
Atami is a great little neighbourhood gem. The service was wonderful. The Sashimi Deluxe platter was a work of art! So impressive! And delicious, of course. We also got complimentary appetizers for Valentine's Day and the restaurant also gave all the female guests a red rose at the end of the night. It was a lovely gesture. The udon soup wasn't great either, it was just ok. My husband had the teriyaki chicken, which didn't look all that appetizing but he assured me it tasted ok. We would definitely come back again ans stick to the sushi and sashimi!
