Tasting menu was a great way to sample and it was unique & delicious. I was disappointed with the decor. The bathrooms needed renovation as there were missing tiles plus very cold. The restaurant itself was very cold as if they did not put on the heat. The place was empty and that seated another couple right next to us which was disappointing since it was crowded. The waterfall was a nice feature but the decor needs more of a warm touch. The food and chocolate molten cake was very good.
Pre-show. Restaurant was empty but food was good drinks were excellent.
Birthday for daughter food and service were outstanding
Food was good, service was great, but restaurant was empty
Nothing to complain about but nothing extraordinary either
Restaurant was surprisingly empty - food was great and service was outstanding. Try it!!
We went to vermillion for our anniversary dinner and the service was absolutely amazing. Not to mention the food was delicious.
Very creative (and tasty) Latin-Asian fusion menu. Low noise level makes this a perfect venue for a business (or other) conversation. Pleasant, roomy ambiance. Very attractive value.
Latin American and Indian cuisines are not an easy synergy, but Vermilion does a game job of trying to fuse the two. The food was tasty and imaginative. Early days, not too many customers, which meant we got very good service. If their business takes off, as I hope it will, I expect they will need to hire more people.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food was mediocre and my vegetarian friend was given meat followed by sass. The concept had potential, but was poorly executed by Vermilion.
Just felt rushed through the meal. I remember the waitress coming by 3 times to ask if we were done eating. Each time the answer was no.
Very flavorful Indian food. Didn't get to try any of the fusion cuisine - but the skill with which the Indian food was prepared makes me think that they'd do a good job with those too.
Great experience at Vermilion. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. It was unique and creative and unlike other meals I have eaten before. It was out of this world! The ambiance was really nice as well and was a good time. I would recommend!
Disappointed in the quality of food and service staff. Was not too crowded still with only couple of people working it took long, waiter keep dropping food, something was wrong with dish and all the explanation we got was that kitchen chef is busy.
We enjoyed our meal . The blends of Indian and Latin cuisine were exceptional.
It took them forever to take our order and then the longest time to get the appetizer and then main course. It was so delayed that we had to ask them to get the dessert when they served main course. It took us from 1235 to 145 to eat. The delay was ridiculous.
Everything was great EXCEPT that I had an 8pm reservation. When I sat down the server informed me that the kitchen was closing at 8:30. Wish that I had known when I made the reservation or when the restaurant called to confirm. The establishment had multiple opportunities to let me know.
Food is amazing. The staff is attentive and the cocktails are out of this world!
Their main dining hall was closed for some electricity hazard. They didnt mention it at the time of reservation. The food came all at thr same time. There was only one server. Felt like they will be shutting down the place tomorrow.
What a shame that this restaurant at the moment isn't what it advertises or has been reviewed to be.
Let's start with multiple canceled reservations because they allowed OpenTable to confirm an 8:00 but weren't seating anyone after 7:45.
Then comes the fact the main dining room was closed due to electrical problems.
And the new dining room was setup in the bank lobby, that's what it felt like. Seating for only about a dozen.
Hmm, not the end of unpleasant surprises. The menu was what drew me here, but many of the items we wanted were already gone and food resupply was several days behind.
My lobster was over cooked. The beautiful claws were rubbery. Makes me think it had been cooked the day before and then rewarmed. And most of our food was lukewarm, plus one entry was delivered 5 minutes after the others.
Total other diners in the restaurant at the time, 2.
This is a place about to go out of business and if it isn't, it should be.
Delicious as always. Surprisingly quiet for a Tuesday night. Only downside was that they seemed to be out of several of the wines on the list.
Limited vegetarian options
Saturday night very empty so no ambiance
Wonderful food and the wait staff are super friendly.
Booked a table for 7pm. Arrived at 7pm and was met with a totally empty room. Hung around for a few minutes feeling awkward looking at an internal water-curtain feature. Then wandered upstairs, also empty. Assumed the place had closed down and then we left.
I love the one in Chicago, this was my first visit to Vermillion in NYC and it did not let me down. Great food, trendy, fun.
2 dishes were fantastic - the eggplant with tamarind from the latin american menu and the kale bhel from the starters were very good! We couldnt get enough of it!! But was disappointed with the pani puri and VERY disappointed with the Pindi Paneer - It tasted processed and full of tomato ketchup and not authentic at all.
I enjoyed my time here, the service was well worth the experience, the food was nice but a little underwhelming for its price point.
My biggest gripe was that I couldn't make a reservation earlier despite it's extreme emptiness at arrival as one of the restaurants last seating customers.
The entire meal was spiced well and most things ordered where spicy as well, it overtook the palate after a few bites
Excellent food.
Poor choice of wine (several listed in the menu was not available)
expected better presentation. Taste was ok too. Had a very limited vegetarian menu.
Had great service, creative fusion cuisine. Thanks
For a group of five, only one rated the food as good, the rest were totally underwhelmed. One of the dishes was served cold and had to be sent back to be heated up. In another, Nicaraguan Tamale, we struggled to find the chicken. Throughout the evening, there were no more than three tables filled, and yet the service was so slow. All this for an exorbitant price. Been there many times before, was one of my NYC favorites. Guessing they will closing shop soon.
My girlfriend and I have dined here a couple of times before and we love it. However our last experience was horrible. First of all there was some happy hour event going on and we were seated right near them which was very loud. I requested if we could be seated upstairs and they said the upstairs was closed for some reason... We ordered the Mysore Lamb Chops and requested Medium WELL and it came out pink. We informed our waitress who apologized and brought it back and assured us that she would tell the chef that we want our steaks medium well also. I ordered the Tandoori Steak and my girlfriend ordered the Chimichurri Steak. My order came out pink and in a POOL of blood. I told and showed our waitress again and she again apologized and brought it back. I asked that it be removed from our bill and we ended up leaving and eating elsewhere. Very disappointed with our service that night. It was not our waitress' fault, but you would think if we sent back the appetizer complaining that it wasn't cooked to our desire they would at least TRY to get our entree right.
Service was very good. We wanted a quiet table to talk and after a few minutes one was arranged. The food was good, I was a bit disappointed in the butter chicken, but overall it was good. They substituted one naan for another and indicated we would not need to order more naans. So service was good.
I was surprised. Walked in and wasn't very busy so I already had a notion of negativity. Checking the menu I saw all different foods and still felt negatively around it. Once we ordered and the food came - WOW we (4 gents) were amazed at how good the food was. Not just one meal but all our appetizers, meals and desserts rated high from us all. Can't say enough about how we enjoyed this hidden and unexpected gem. We will for sure go back. They've been there 8 years. How did I now know this? Thanks Open Table for having them as a choice.
Ot was very empty, just 2 tables occupied. The food is good.
Terrible - we had eaten at the Chicago Vermillion so were excited to come here. It was truly awful - food was bad, no atmosphere, badly lit, server was doing his best but I think he was making the drinks (and possibly the food) as well as serving. Avoid!!
We were practically the only people eating there and the place felt cavernous. They were out of almost every wine on the menu (it was almost comical). Food was meh.
The restaurant was closed when I arrived even though its hours indicated it should be open. There was no one there and the door was locked m
I came to celebrate a friend's birthday. I had been here a few times before and was disappointed to see how much has changed. The upstairs dining area, which is where I expected us to dine, was closed for renovations. It would have been nice to have been notified of that when I made the reservation. The walk in area is more of a bar/lounge feel and not what we were going for. The service was good, food was good, but not as good as I remembered in the past. Based on this last visit, I wouldn't rush to go back.
Good quality good for the adventurous diner. Great eclectic menu choices with a couple of selections for the less worldly eater. Good selection for the mixed vegetarian and carnivore crowd. Full lunch crowd provided a bouquet of food fragrances...curry, spicy, etc. Worth a try!
