At The Rail Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I brought two corporate guests with us for a special dinner at The Rail and then followed up with great music at Nomads in Wilmington. Unfortunately the dinner selections were nothing to brag about and during our drive to Nomads we learned the lamb was smothered with a heavy gravy, taking away the taste of lamb and the salmon bland. The service was great and overall the night was a successful with great music at Nomads.
We plan on coming back to The Rail, we're chaulking up the neutral experience to a bad chef day. We've had too many great meals and know we will have others, just as great.
Normally, we chat with Bill Lewis, but we didn't see him and so I sent an earlier email to you, expressing my disappointment of Thursday's meal.
Love this venue! The outdoor balcony with its own bar, live music and fantastic views of the White Clay Creek golf course is unmatched. Food and service is usually fantastic but on this Friday nite they were both lacking. They had a very popular band which had an incredible turnout. And many others for the last nite of live music. The staff and mainly the kitchen couldn't handle the volume. The staff was still pleasant & helpful and management made things right for everyone. I'll definitely go back to this must experience venue for their awesome views & food.
We had a weekend at Delaware Park including racing, casino and golf which was all great and a local told us that the Rail was supposed to be really good. Food was average at best, service was average and just didn't hit the mark. Probably a great place for lunch.
Went for Mother's Day in 2013 and as a group, we agreed the food was much better then. Quality of food has weakened. Amount of food for items ordered from kitchen (such as french toast & pancakes) was embarrassing. Kid-like portions were brought out. Overall variety of food available also seemed to be weaker than 2 yrs ago. Maybe $35/person isn't much, but it wasn't even worth that amount sadly.
We came here for brunch with my parents and with our children. It was surprisingly not crowded. There was a big table with a bridal shower taking place, which I thought was a great idea. The piano player added to the relaxing ambiance. Lots of choices of food for everyone. The kids enjoyed the omelet station, bacon, breakfast sausage, parfaits and dessert. My family said the prime rib was very good. Looking forward to coming back again.
Family Easter Brunch: Service was outstanding! Food was great! No wait! Everything that was supposed to be hot was hot; everything that was supposed to be cold was cold! no lines! Could not have been better! We will be coming back for every holiday brunch with the family! They didn't rush us out and they had plenty of kid-friendly foods too.
In today's world who doesn't offer egg whites? Biscuits were hard and bland. Chipped beef lacked any flavor, dessert of frozen cheesecake, bitter mimosa, crunchy pancakes. Only thing worth eating was the prime rib which was flavorful. Friend enjoyed the choc strawberries. Cannot recommend brunch.
When we arrived the restaurant wasn't busy, we were seated right away and service was fine but once it got busy the service was not good. We had to wait for refills and even the check. I expected more offerings on the buffet and they could have done without the cream chip beef and sausage gravy. My decaf was very good and hot as was the stuffed French toast.
The room was nice and could have been brighter if the coat rack was somewhere else. It definitely took away from the ambiance.
Date night for my wife and I was great! Cheese board was awesome and not a large dinner crowd so it was very romantic. We ended up getting several appetizers instead of dinner. Worked wonderfully. Kudo's to "Christin" our server, very nice and attentive to our needs. We'll be back!
We've made a brunch tradition at "The Rail" for many of our special occasions and holidays and will continue to do so for years to come. I just can't say enough wonderful things about this place! From the moment we checked in, we knew these folks really understood what great customer service is all about.
While the place is actually an upscale country club (White Clay Golf Club), the nice folks at "The Rail" always manage to make us feel comfortable and right at home. From the hostess to the gentlemen playing piano to the fine young chief at the omelet station, this place never disappoints. Amanda, our server, was simply outstanding. She was always cheerful, quick to tend to our needs and had that perfect "knack" of appearing exactly when we needed something.
And did I mention the outstanding brunch food? Everything we'd expect and all top shelf quality. On this last visit I tried the included french toast fresh from the kitchen ... absolutely sinful. I'll gladly double up on gym workouts this week just to break even from all those delicious calories!
My dining experience was mixed. The food was very good indeed, and while it would bring us back, the room itself was part bar and part dining room. Since this is a place where golfers come after their game, and people come for happy hour, etc. there was a lot of people traffic. It was very noisy with the people at the bar, with an excellent pianist playing in the background at the same time. Our service was excellent but we waited a long while before anyone noticed we didn't have a server. Once we had one assigned she was above and beyond wonderful.
Went for DDO. Disappointed that only had selection for entree. But my error, I didn't go online to see menu or we wouldn't have gone. The food we did eat was delicious. Only complaint was noise level was unacceptable. Had to yell to talk to my partner. A shame, since the food was very good but we won't be back.
I took my husband to "The Rail" restaurant for his 77th birthday. Our oldest son joined us and this was his first time at "The Rail". The food was excellent and our server was very accommodating and friendly. I had the 6 oz. Filet and my husband and son had the NY Strip Steak; everything came to our table as we ordered it and it was absolutely delicious. My husband and I had been to "The Rail" on several previous occasions and were delighted with everything. My husband said "This is the best NY Strip I have ever had in a restaurant." We all were very pleased with our dining experience.
There is not much good I can say about our experience at the rail, bar was crowded with golfers watching TV, very loud. A small group of ladies were at a couple of tables, very loud.
Food was below average, service minimal, wait staff overworked, will not return
