At The Rail Ratings and Reviews
This is our 4th time to The Rail and every other time it had been excellent as far as food goes and we enjoyed the music. When we visited The Rail this year (Dec. 31, 2016) we were very disappointed in our dinner. There were 4 of us and the steaks that we ordered were absolutely delicious but the vegetables (potatoes and asparagus) were only slightly warm and 3 of us did not eat the vegetables. We told our Waitress who was very professional about the problem and she offered to get us something else. She told us that she brought it to the Kitchen Supervisor's attention.
Each time we eat on special occasions at The Rail we are pleasantly surprised. New Year's Eve did it again. With our 8 year old grand daughter, daughter and son-in-law, we received another outstanding meal. Our waitress Kate was so kind to our grand daughter that the whole evening was hard to believe. You can't beat The Rail on special occasions.
Nice quiet, great ambiance. Fine dining, a little expensive but the food's good. We took some friends from New York and we're not disappointed. We're able to have conversations without the distraction of loud noises and sometimes not hearing each other. We went on a Friday and a nice touch to the evening was a great piano player. Our server was great too, constantly checking on us to see if we need anything.
Excellent brunch with my wife. Food was very tasty and plentiful, good variety of breakfast and lunch items. Desert was good, enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies and carrot cake. The service was excellent and the live piano music was delightful . This was our 2nd time at the Rail for brunch. Both times we were very pleased with the total experience. Give it a try, I think you will enjoy the experience.
Had a first-time meeting with a woman at the restaurant, wanting it to be special.
As for the food, the food quality was excellent, but perhaps a bit overpriced.
The ambiance was poor as the dining room was empty other than ourselves and another quartet. I don't know the reason for this as our seating was 5:30 on a Saturday. Noise echoed throughout the room due to the lack of patrons, making the piano playing almost cacophonous.
Service was fine as there was nobody else to tend to.
Will we go again? Most assuredly.
Disappointing visit to The Rail. Very noisy! We had a table for 6 but couldn't talk to one another across table because of a very large party. Ordered white wine that came out warm and the server brought ice cubes. Unacceptable. My husband ordered oysters that also came out on a plate with no ice, and they were warm, sent back. Server was very nice. Might go back for lunch but not for dinner.
I took my elderly mother and some cousins to the Rail for a ladies' lunch and it was very pleasant. The food wasn't fabulous, but it was nice and not expensive, and the server was great. The dining room was quiet enough for conversation--a huge plus in my book! Everyone had a lovely time.
The Sunday brunch buffet is definitely not worth your money. The cost is not even that high but the lack of food choices is what hurts this place. If you are advertising it as a brunch there needs to be more "lunch" selections other than the roast beef. The food isn't horrible at all but it's hard to recommend a place when the options are so limited in terms of food. Fried chicken or huevos rancheros could he added as well as some spicy food. Almost everything had no hotness level to it. Also the service isn't the fastest considering it's a buffet.
Disappointed that the dining room was partially blocked off for a private party which if we had known would not have went. The party had a live band which we had to hear and we came for a relaxing dinner to enjoy the pianist. Our open table reservation sent us a message traffic was light which we took to mean the restaurant. In fast traffic leaving the area was heavy. The restaurant manager went our of her way to accommodate us after the hostess basically turned us away unless we wanted to sit outside minutes away from a major rain store, so i assume no one read our very last minute reservation. Looks like we should have listened to the hostess and left.
They offer a brunch buffet for $30/person with an ala carte menu for kids. The food was of reasonable quality. They had shrimp cocktail and oysters, made to order eggs benedict and smoked salmon. Omelette bar and carving station. Mimosas. A very adequate Sunday Brunch. Not particularly high end, be adequate. You get what you paid for. Very noisy. This is part of a public golf course in an area with a lot of very exclusive private country clubs. This felt a lot like a small buffet at a Casino. Actually, they have a casino and horse racing next door, so it is what it is. We had friends passing through Delaware and this was close to 95 and served breakfast, so it worked out well.
It was an absolutely wonderful place. The food was excellent with excellent selections to choose from. The only complaint was it was extremely chilly in the room and the potatoes were still a little cold like they needed to be heated more before going out to the buffet.
Very relaxed atmosphere with great views outside. Food and service was great with good choices listed on the menu. Have never been disappointed with a meal. Onion soup was very tasty but table was split on the new change to a creamy versus clear base. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Upon reading the online menu we decided to try the Rail for our weekly Saturday night dinner. I was very disappointed to find the menu was totally different and disappointing. It was not the same at all. They were additionally preparing for two large groups to come in and we were ignored/rushed. I found something on the menu but asked if I could get different sides and they told me of course they always accommodate changes. The meal came out as described on the menu without changes. Steak was just sort of ok.
We had found the information on the Brunch on-line and wanted to try it - wow! A beautiful country club setting, beautiful views, and one of the best brunches we've ever had! And a great deal for the money. We will definitely go back, and will bring friends and family. Thank you, At the Rail!
They were accommodating setting up this surprise for my wife, even through the blizzard rescheduling. The food was good. Unfortunately, the waiter could not be heard by everyone so some people missed the specials. They enjoyed their meals anyway. All in all, this was a great experience for the whole family.
Staff was friendly and ambiance nice, however I evidently made a bad choice in food... chicken and gnocchi which lacked luster and was very dry, both the chicken and the gnocchi. My friend had the filet which was fine. I have always enjoyed going during the warmer weather for lunch outside which is great.
We decided to come here for our one year anniversary since we got married at WCCCC and were not disappointed. The brunch buffet had lots of great options and everything was delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive. My only recommendation would be to have scrambled eggs/egg whites available from the buffet so you didn't have to ask the server at the omelet bar to make them. Great experience overall.
