The only issue we had was that the restaurant was too warm. We had to skip dessert since we were too warm to enjoy it.
The door is opened by the hostess which is a nice touch however, when it’s over 95 outside, it not so nice for those trying to enjoy dinner here.
This is one of my very favorite restaurants in Austin. The ambience is simple, unostentatious, and quiet . Between the two of us we enjoyed cold split pea soup, two helpings of bread, seafood risotto, a vegetable side , wine, proseco , and dessert. The food here is incredible , and the service impeccable. Pricing reasonable considering the quality .
Thank you for another wonderful evening.
Free birthday dessert!
Once again a wonderful dinner at Asti. Great service and the food always very good.
Our party of 6 arrived early on a Friday night and the staff worked hard to get us seated early. Lovely proseca and appetizers were served at the bar and, when seated, the waiter came promptly and took our order. The food was delicious and the quiet neighborhood ambience allowed us all to talk and have a wonderful time. We have a wide variety of taste and found ourselves reaching over to other plates to try other things. The canoli was fresh and as good as any I have had in NYC. So happy we made a post-graduation reservation here for a memorable evening with our cousins.
Fabulous meal and delightful setting.
Food was excellent, good for hearing conversation, service was good, wine by the glass offerings were limited and just OK. I'd definitely go back.
Everything was delicious and fresh. Will be back soon!
Our server was really great. He had great suggestions and he was very fun. The food was good. I wouldn’t call it amazing but it was good. I could tell the pasta was house made. Good wine selection. Good happy hour. There was parking. Overall a nice evening.
My wife and I are "regulars". We go there because we are never disappointed. Great food and service.
We have eaten at ASTI several times and each time it is enjoyable. The food is consistently good and the wait staff are experienced and attentive. The owner is also present keeping an eye on every table. Always a great meal.
Always love this place ! Have enjoyed it since first meal here 12 years ago. A Hyde Park gem.
Love, love, love this place! Even though they were quite crowded this past Saturday, service and food continued to be fantastic. Thanks, Ramsey and Emmett. Cannot wait for the new patio!
The owner of ASTI is amazing!! Our night started off a little rough as we tried moving from a 2 top (very confining) to a 4 top. Just as the server got us settled in we were moved abruptly due to an apparent reservation for that table. The owner not only brought us a complimentary appetizer to show his regret for having to move us but ended up comp'ing our entire dinner - bottle of wine and all. Now this is a great business owner! I will definitely go back because he did the "right" thing. Something we don't see very often anymore. It's a restaurant is run with integrity.
Thank you & Cheers to you Emmett Fox!!!
My wife and I love this place. It was slammed with business this night but the staff is so well trained. They handled it perfectly. They know food and wine. We watched the owner pitch in as necessary. It was a ballet.
Austin classic and always a favorite. Owner operated makes all of the difference. Love thr familiar feel but always modern food. Amazing and unique wine list. Just A+ all around and always.
salt, salt, salt. Couldn't really taste the food for all the salt. Used to love this place. New chef? Loves salt? Had calamari, which was so salty we couldn't finish it, and we LOVE calamari. Then I had the pasta w/ lamb, was fine but not great. I can make better. My girlfriend had the seafood stew which she complained to me was incredibly salty. Will think twice before returning.
Delicious! Outstanding, friendly service.
Cannot say enough good things about Asti! Each time we dine, there is a great special or one of our current favorites- or, a forgotten gem. The staff (& owners) are friendly & want to make sure you’re happy. This is one of the best examples of a neighborhood restaurant in Austin which is deservedly beloved.
Everything was great. Good service, met the owner. Exactly what a good Italian joint should be, would go again!
The food was delicious and the lemon dessert was outstanding.
This is one of my favorite Austin neighborhood restaurants. Always great service, wonderful food and just a great slice of Austin. It is casual yet has the feeling that its something a bit more special. Highly recommend-especially for a date.
Great food and service, but the place is very small. My wife and I were seated at a table with another woman and her child which was awkward.
Great food and service, as always! The entire staff will take care of you, especially Ally and Justin.
Cannot wait until they get their patio!!!
After being absent for more than two months because of illness, re returned to another great meal
No surprise, just excellent food and service
Always as good as it gets in Austin.
The food was delicious, my husband and I ate everything off of our plates. He had the seafood risotto (I started stealing his food after I finished my plate) and I had one of the specials, which was a salad of beets with shaved Brussels sprouts on top of their ricotta. I was obsessed. The stuffed mushrooms, although smaller than I thought still a good portion and very tasty. Our waitress was so sweet and amazing. She caught that it was my birthday last Saturday so she got us a free dessert! The bittersweet chocolate cannoli. Omg. She suggested I take it to go so I can lick the box. I am not ashamed that I did that, no regrets.
It was quiet since it was pretty slow for a Saturday night, but I hope they stick around for a while because we definitely want to come back.
Very good. Fine dining but not overly pricey. Causal relaxing atmosphere. Chocolate cannoli to die for. Will definitely go back
First trip to Austi and thought it was very good. Homemade pastas were excellent as well as pizza.
Owner checked in twice for feedback.
Will be back soon
The best of everything! Interesting menu, delicious food and the sweetest service!
It was wonderful to come together with friends we had not seen in years--over fantastic food and an attentive and knowledgeable server.
Excellent Italian fare with a twist. They offer gluten-free pasta to sub with any dish. The focaccia and pizza were both tasty. The fried artichoke appetizer was excellent. The server was aware of our schedule (pre-theater dinner) and made sure we had plenty of time.
The food at Asti was so bad last night. The buratta tasted like mom’s recipe dressed in hidden valley Italian dressing. My date ordered the $24 salmon, which used to be their stand out. Luby’s makes a better salmon now - Overcooked and no taste. The old version was crisp on top and medium to medium rare - I ordered the $30 hanger steak and it was terrible. Sinewy - it was cooked to my order but really? $30 for a crappy cut of sliced select grade round steak? Silver lining - our service was prompt and underwhelming wine by the glass were at least nice pours (I left most of mine on the table).
We very much enjoyed our return visit to Asti. The service is always really good and we especially appreciated our waiter, Justin, who was very attentive and knowledgeable, as well as friendly and fun. I usually get pasta, but opted for the salmon and enjoyed it. I had the salsa verde on the side, and fairly glad I did as it wasn't really my cup of tea with the salmon particularly. But the fish was perfectly prepared. I subbed green beans for asparagus and they were beautifully grilled. My husband got the Paglia e Fieno Casarecce, which was very rich and very good! It was spinach and egg pasta, prosciutto, peas, in a cream sauce. He really liked it. The wine we chose was a Sicilian one which had been recommended to us by the bartender on another visit. Very smooth and just right and the price was reasonable as well. We will be back soon.
GREAT place to go for lunch or dinner! I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. Have had several pasta dishes, salmon and duck...all great. And, the desserts are to die for. Super service.
I would normally would have identified the Service as 'Outstanding', as Mr. Emmett Fox waited on us for a good portion of our meal. Unfortunately, our waitress may not have been told that we were celebrating an anniversary; and, we felt somewhat rushed during the first part of our visit. The quality of the food, the size of our portions, and the unique wine recommended was indeed 'Outstanding'.
Linguine con Congolese had sand in the clams. Everything else was very good
Love love love this place. Always try to go back when I want Italian.
