ASTI Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
Monday night was a slow evening and perfect for a birthday date. The waiter was quite knowledgeable, made wine recommendations. We didn't like the first two he brought tastes of, but the third one he recommended without our tasting it was perfect and we ended up buying the bottle. The meal pacing was just right. We did have to remind the waiter to bring one of the side dishes we ordered. Other than that, the evening was splendid.
We all ordered a different dish (5) and everyone was very pleased. Our server overheard the wine discussion and recommended a great red between a Pinot noir and a cab' and everyone liked that, too. He was attentive and not annoying. I had squid ink pasta and seafood and highly recommend it along with this restaurant. Open seating means it's a good social meal and the noise level wasn't bad even with a packed house.
I can't say enough about how enjoyable our evening at Asti was. The service was superb and the food was delicious. We were seated and served quickly but were free to chat after our meal was over. Definitely worth a try if you have never been there. We will certainly be back.
Asti is our go to for dinner in the neighborhood. The food is outstanding, the staff is well versed in the food and wine and is very professional. The wine list is great for Italian wines. It's always a nice touch that the owner stops by each table and checks on you as well.
The food at Asti is always great! The customer service is unequalled. Beginning with Emmit the owner, the staff is always welcoming and friendly. This is our favorite place to dine for Italian in Austin. We recently had a friend from out of town join us for dinner and it was an exceptional experience!
I had my birthday celebration with a group of 14 on a Wednesday. We realize that it's a bit bigger but the restaurant was very accommodating. The food was phenomenal with good portions. Our server Mitch was awesome. He ensure we were all taken care of and communicated openly. Being in the hospitality industry myself, it was a great experience. I will be back because I need to try all of the other amazing dishes.
Overall a decent restaurant but didn't live up to all the very positive reviews. Italian food is among my favorite. My pasta dish was ok and my colleagues had mix reviews. Trout was ok while the salmon got positive comments. I will like to come and try pizza or another dish before I make a final decision on this restaurant.
Although I do not reside in Austin, I have dined at ASTI on 5 or 6 occasions. This was the first disappointing experience. The restaurant was extremely warm. During the meal, when the waiter could see that the heat was getting to me, he finally confessed that the air conditioning was not working. The oppressive heat detracted from the meal and the quality of the food.
Had the owners asked my opinion, I would have urged that they close the restaurant until the air conditioning unit could be repaired.
There are other great restaurants in Austin and I doubt I will visit ASTI again.
Asti never fails to delight us with their seasonal specials. The house made rigatoni was excellent and a perfect foil to the pork ragu with apples and fennel. Their bread sticks are a "must" and they remind my husband of his Italian grandmother's recipe. The well curated wine list pairs well with the menu and is moderately priced.
