Asti Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We finally had the chance to try the famous tomahawk steak and boy we're we impressed! My husband and I shared the steak and ate two baskets of bread (amazing as well) and left with full bellies and big smiles. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing!! We reserved a table again for tomorrow evening!
Good authentic Italian food with great service! I took the wife there for a dinner date and was pleasantly surprised to see Antonio Gates there (San Diego Chargers football player)! No one bothered him while he ate peacefully in the company of 3 other friends. The restaurant has a wall of pictures of different celebrities that have visited. I especially enjoyed speaking Italian to the native Italian waiters. I was told that the head chef was Italian too! So you're getting the real deal here. The prices were reasonable except for the wife's dish, which was some kind of fish that I forget that cost $42, which I thought was higher than it should be but it was delicious. We had the creme brulee for desert which was one of the best I've had. Don't ask me why they serve creme brulee in an Italian restaurant. I'm just glad they did! One of the owners was there and he took care of valet parking for me! I'll be coming back.
Sat on the patio so don't know the noise level inside. This is an old time Italian restaurant down to the cranky server. The salads were good and our pizza was not hot enough, I think it sat in the window to long. Crab cakes had a lot of filler needed more crab.
We have been coming here for years. No more. My wife had lamb chops which were a very poor cut of meat. She couldn't eat half of them. She also asked for mashed potatoes and they said no problem. What they didn't say was that they would come out of a box and be an inedible glop. No one came around to see of the food was acceptable. There are too many other restaurants to put up with this crap
Had only heard of Asti but photos looked like it was worth a try. We were in SD for a weekend convention. Our waiter Vincenzo was terrific. Probably the best Osso Buco I've had in years and the sea food grill my wife had was a tremendous amount of food and cooked to perfection. I would return again.
The whole experience was awful. They seated us and there was no service for a while. Then they forgot to tell patrons their was a special Xmas menu with double the prices. No vegetarian option in an Italian restaurant was a new one to me. As I settled for just a basic pasta with veggies and waited forever, they brought us food and they forgot to add any veggies to my pasta!! My son's chicken came basically raw. When asked, they brought me a bowl of veggies! They took my son's plate, microwaved the chicken and brought it back!!! He did not eat it. This was one of the worst Xmas dinner with terribly inflated prices.I made the reservation with high hopes of having an amazing dinner with my whole family on Xmas day. Waste of money .
