Asti Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Ambiance was great, lovely place, neat and clean. Our waiter seemed distracted though. We had two other waiters to assist during our meal, even waiting to pay was a bit upsetting. Otherwise, nice place. Food was a bit bland. Could improve in service and taste.
Asti is one of the classiest joints in San Diego. The fantastic ambiance combined with the professional nature of the servers puts Asti over the top.
The servers are always knowledgeable and attentive and have been there for years.
If you haven’t eaten at Asti, get on it already!
We were seated immediately for our reservation and were greeted by a kind waiting staff. The food was authentic, delicious, and worth the price. The ambience was also great. Overall, it was one of the best Italian places we've been to and we will definitely be returning.
I selected this restaurant for our family Christmas dinner. The owner and General Manager both circulated the tables on a continuous basis to make sure everyone was happy and well taken care of. The staff was attentive, polite, jovial and professional. The food was amazing and portion size was perfect! We will return again!
We had a not so great start. The hostess thought that we were part of another party and did not assist us until I got her attention and let her know that we had reservations. But things got better. Our server was very nice, although our waters (only drink) were never refilled. I ordered the gnocchi, which was amazing. My husband ordered one of the chef specials and enjoyed everything about the dish except the gluten free pasta. He decided to give it a try and has decided that gluten free pasta is not for him. Overall we had a wonderful time. It was a great anniversary dinner.
My family and I went to Asti for a Christmas Eve dinner about 8:00 pm, it was excellent. Old school Italian food prepared really well . The restaurant is small inside but great decor and ambiance, fells like being in a NYC restaurant. Only issue was the service was somewhat slow but I think it was because the restaurant was full with a couple of large groups. But the waiter and servers were very helpful and the food definitely was worth the wait. I had veal and it was prepared to perfection. My fellow diners echo my sentiment. Highly recommend.
Expensive veal chop highly recommended and was to be served medium came raw. Service and delivery of meal was so slow that even alloting two hours for dinner we were quite tardy for theater just around the corner. A VERY disappointing experience for a very expensive dinner.
We found this restaurant on Yelp as we don't travel to the San Diego area that often. It was highly rated and we weren't disappointed! Philipe (our server), the food and wine were fantastic! I would certainly recommend this to any out of town guests and the locals. Thank you for a wonderful date night!
It’s a very quaint, old school , exposed brick walls type of atmosphere. The service was first class all the way. We ordered several dishes: both soups on the menu and the salmon was excellent. The spaghetti carbonara was good. The sauce was a bit heavy for a carbonara and the “bacon” which should always be thick chunks of panchetta, was just plain thin ham. Also, don’t bother with the vegan pasta dishes, completely unpalatable.
Overall, I would definitely try this place again.
We decided to meet up in downtown San Diego for business and dinner. Sitting outside provided great ambience with great service and great food. Kudos to Mark, our server, for staying on top of things with great energy and recommendations without being intrusive. I’ll be back.
We went to Asti for our anniversary during a trip to San Diego. The interior is very pleasant, but we were seated along the wall under glaring in ceiling down lighting, I asked if they could be turned down & after watching lights in other areas of the dining room go up & down, it was finally accomplished. Our waiter was nice, but spoke very little English.
To start, I had the caprese salad, my husband had minestrone & we both enjoyed our starters. For our entrees I opted for gnocchi with gorgonzola & my husband had chicken Marsala. We both enjoyed our meals, although the Marsala could have used more wine & the gnocchi was a bit heavier than I like.
We finished by sharing perfiteroles & as we were wrapping up, the waiter brought us a tiramisu & wished us happy anniversary.
Everything except the food was nice. We ate after the theater and had great service and a lovely table. The problem was all of us had dry, relatively tasteless pasta. We could not get enough salt and pepper on the dishes to make them good. Maybe the late hour was the problem.
Our meal was very good, but the service was very bad. We had to ask the hostess to find our waiter to refill our drinks. The guy never came by to ask us if our meal was prepared properly, but only to give us our check.
On the other hand, we sat outside for dinner and the view was interesting. I've come to the conclusion that being in the Gaslamp district is like people watching in Las Vegas.
