Nice local secret. Themed menus with food prepared by the students from the Cooking Institute. Always high quality for a good price. Biggest drawback is that it's only open for a few hours each week.
This is a culinary training program only open durring lunch time on wednesday thrusday friday durring the school semester. We go often and are really bummed when we miss one of the semester meals. The food is different every time so no ordering your favorite but we have never had a bad meal. If you have a little adventure and like 3 course meals, then u should try this place out.
Very gracious dining with excellent food served and prepared by students. Very good value of 3 course meal for $16.00.
I went here for my Daughters birthday lunch, they made her feel special , making a specialty drink and the food...so good. I had a hearty appetizer then perfectly cooked chicken followed by french donuts with the best dipping sauce - hot donuts and cold chocolaty dip was amazing.
The staff, the food, the entire meal was a happening.
If you are looking for reasons to feel positive about young people this place will give it to you.
I was very disappointed with this visit - I've come to Assignments frequently almost since it opened. The service was friendly but not of good quality/professional. My friend was insulted by an off-hand remark from the (Maitre D?) person. The rolls/bread have been of poor quality for a year or so, and really not very good on this occasion. Bread, a cheap meal accompaniment, can really add to a meal - and used to at Assignments. The price is higher, but portions seem to have slightly decreased in size, when this place has always been a real treat for price, quality and fair quantity - never too much, but a nice meal. Dessert was paltry, tasty but so small! I have brought at least 15 new people (some from France and Japan) to Assignments over the years, all of whom have "never knew this place existed," and who were VERY impressed.
(I wrote a review on the card provided in the restaurant so please refer to it.) Everything was exceptional! Delicious food, friendly professional service, ambiance wonderful. The music was just right, not loud like in so many places. We could actually have a conversation. The food was so nicely presented on the plate. Only thing I could think of is I should have asked for a knife for the chocolate cup tiramasu. It would have not been so messy, still delicious!
What a great little lunch spot. A great value, really good food and such nice people, from the waitstaff, to the director of the restaurant for the culinary program at the Art Institute, everyone was very kind and concerned that we have a great experience!
This is one of the most unique and delicious places to enjoy a meal! My Mom and I frequent this place when we are in Denver. It's so great to watch students learn how to be successful in the restaurant business. We also love that the menu changes when new semesters begin. If you haven't been here yet...it's a "MUST"! Check their hours though, since they are connected with a school, they have limited operating hours.
I read recently that some cities have culinary schools that run restaurants, so a little investigating turned up Assignments. This is a hidden gem. It's staffed by students who are closely monitored by faculty, so standards are very high. The wall to the kitchen is glass, so we can see what's going on in the kitchen, and more important, they can see and learn from our reactions. The food was well-prepared and the menu diverse and interesting. Presentation was impressive and wait staff are helpful and friendly. I was happy to be part of their learning experience while enjoying a delicious 3 course lunch at a bargain price. We definitely plan to go back.
My daughter and I dined there on Thursday. The staff was attentive and the food was delicious and presented very artistic. I wish they were open in the evenings and my recommendation is that they advertise more because I stumbled upon it. This is a great place for a business lunch or date.
For a wonderful formal meal on a college student budget, or for any foodie, this place is a bargain!! Served and prepared by chefs in training- who really care what you think about your experience. I can't believe it took me so long to go back. So much fun quizzing the students on food and prep and local restaurants and local chefs. Denver has it all.

Really nice service. Great presentation of food. Three courses takes a while so plan to spend 2 hrs. We enjoyed it and definitely will plan to go back.
I had lunch at Assignments 3 weeks ago and the food was fabulous. My sister and I took a friend to lunch there on Thursday, the 4th. Our main courses were all very dry and overcooked. My friend had lamb sliders that were so hard that she had trouble cutting them. My sister and I had chicken and it was very dry - overcooked, but not crispy, as it was the last time I was there. Two of the desserts were totally overcooked. The chocolate tart was very good. Our soup was tepid and not seasoned. It was very disappointing and embarrassing!
Great experience! I highly recommend everyone to go see and be sure to get a tour of the school!
We always enjoy eating at Assignments. Really nice experience - good food and service in a lovely atmosphere. Three courses for only $14.
The roasted root vegetable salad was very good. The meat ball appetizers were raw inside but had an excellent taste. The entre with pasta had a nice filling, but, the home made pasta was pasty. The breaded fish was done perfectly and the bread for the Po' boy was excellent, but the tomatoes and the dressing on the bread made the bread and the breading on the fish soggy. If they served the tarter sauce/ dressing in a portion cup that would fix the majority of the issue.
Assignments is a very special experience enjoying gourmet food at a very reasonable cost. A special bonus to visit with the Culinary Art students and hear about their career plans.
We keep going back and back to Assignments. Always surprise dishes.
Most of the food was good. The schnitzel was overdone for one person and the chef replaced it. We got two small appetizers we did not expect. One of the students showed us the kitchen,etc. We really enjoyed it.
Great menu with creative, unusual choices. Delicious and bigger portions than in the past. You enjoy three courses of fine food for the same price as you might spend on a salad or burger some where else. Everything was plated beautifully and served by attentive wait staff. It was wonderful start to finish.
I like the concept of the restaurant. Great to go to with friends. They don't hurry you along and they explain things. Met the chef and he talked to us for 10 minutes and was really interesting. It is not fast service but that is not a negative. Nice to have a limited menu with great food. Food was excellent. B
Love this place. The restaurant is operated by the culinary students at the Art Institute of Colorado; the menu changes every quarter. Delicious food and good service every time we go. Three-course gourmet lunch for $14. No better deal or experience in town. Definitely worth a try.

I love Assignments Restaurants at the Art Institute of Denver. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere is lovely and the students are talented, friendly and professional. $12 for a three-course gourmet meal - Wow! You just can't get a better meal or deal than this for lunch. Always a wonderful experience.
Brought a friend who had never been there before and was so disappointed at the food! My friend's Bavette beef was chewy even though when asked, prior to ordering, whether it was a tender cut and was assured that it was. Her potatoes were not cooked enough. I bit into something that was in my Brussels sprouts that I though might have cracked my teeth. Twice! My chicken was tasteless and dry.
Will not return there again, or recommend it to anyone.
To eat here is a dining experience as the food is always presented in the most attractive manner and a person can always expect exceptional dishes.
love this local find. the food is over the top and prices are great for what you get. one picks an appetizer, main and dessert for $12. everything is cooked to perfection and looks decorative. watch out for the competent servers. they may keep refilling your glass(and charging extra too). all of us were given the wrong tab and overcharged. every trip is different with students graduating thru. i preferred the last menu and last students. they used to do dinner. now they only do lunch from 1115-1215 and accept reservations(no walk ins). i will continue to go back as long as they dont raise the prices. the students dont get the tips and tips are optional.
A great dining experience. Never have to worry about bringing friends for lunch. Always meets my expectations.
Food was excellent. Remember this is a cooking school and it was first open date for the restaurant. The students were very nervous but will improve through the semester. Always enjoy going there.

This is a training ground for students and this last week must have been at the beginning of this term, because I would have been very unhappy with the sevice at a for-profit restaurant. My friend and I kept wondering when the pants would fall off of one of the waiters - they were that low. We've seen kids on the street dressed that way but never in a white-tablecloth restaurant. My tea arrived lukewarm; I ordered the Tazo chai with almond milk and it not Tazo - I checked on the internet. Nobody inquired if food and beverages were okay. The menu did not state that the succotash that came with my fish has ham in it.
This is probably one of the few times I was disappointed with Assignments and for $15 ($3 for the tea and $12 for the food) it was acceptable.
