WE MET FRIENDS FOR DINNER ON A TUESDAY NIGHT. YHE RESTAURANT WAS NOT BUSY. THE WAITRESS/HOSTESS WAS GRACIOUS, KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE MENU AND VERY FRIENDLY. EVERY ONE ENJOYED THEIR MEALS, PRICES WERTE REASONABLE. MY CAPRA SALAD WAS DELICIOUS, BRONZINO WAS EXCELLENT. CHEF WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING IN CHANGING A SSAUCE FOR MY FRIEND'S DISH. WILL DEFINIETLY GO BACK AND TRY SOME ITALIAN DISHES WITH THEIR HOMEMADE PASTA.
Probably one of the best restaurants in the Atlantic City Area. We will be back!!!
Overall we had a lovely dinner . The food was very good.
The one thing that really put a damper on the evening was the TV over the bar. It really cheapened the experience. I wouldn't include Wheel of Fortune as part of a fine dining experience.
I wanted to love this place...ratings were great so I made a reservation for our 1 year wedding anniversary (I wanted it to be special) we braved the storm to go out to celebrate. Service was great, except the fact I had to ask to refill my water when there was only 3 couples in the whole place, 2 of them at the bar and the bartenders responsibility, but Emilie was bubbly and friendly and we don’t like to make a tough time. Appetizer was delicious...2 scallops and 3 onions for $15. We ordered the veal that you had to saw through with a side of extremely bland pasta. I ordered the $38 seafood paella that was subpar at best. Neither of our dinners were served with a salad which seemed odd but it is what it is. What was supposed to be a special night of celebration was turned into a rush to leave before we got too upset. We ended up going to a local bar to get more food as a $95 tab and a $25 tip left us still hungry, we didn’t even want to look at the dessert menu we just wanted to leave.
The food is great, well prepared and you get a whole lot of food. Mary the owner, is very special. She greet everyone at their table and sits and chats with you. If you have a special occasion , she will defiantly take care of you. So if you want a great meal, with a great atmosphere Assaggio's is the place to go.
Love Assaggio! So friendly, great food and cocktails. Nice live music too!
Delicious! They have the best Gnocchis, great wine and great service!!
Dining experience was fantastic. Low lighting and live music made for a very nice Valentine’s dinner for us. Will definitely return.
We made a reservation for Valentine’s Day. Mia McKenzie was performing there, the main reason we chose Assaggio. We realized it would be a day of fasting, as it is Ash Wednesday this year. Only one meal was without meat. I called and asked, but no other choices were available. Luckily, the shrimp with pancetta was able to be made without the pancetta, so my honey was good with that. Thank you for accommodating our request! We had a lovely evening. Mia was great! Our server was super!
As always it was amazing. Food delicious, ambiance great, Mauro sweet:)). Thank you!
Perfect setting for a quiet New Year's Eve dinner. Great food, service as always. Nice touch was the mellow guitarist playing soft music throughout. Only in a classy intimate restaurant does the owner come around to greet guests at each table. Bellissimo Assagio
We were very pleased with every aspect of our dining experience at Assaggio. We will definitely be returning soon!
We were seated upstairs because we had a party of nine.. very nice but the live music was downstairs. Very good food and the service was attentive and accommodating.
Some unusual dishes were very well prepared. Menu had lots of different offerings, not the usual run of the mill. Good value for the price though wine menu a little pricey.
Wait staff & owner friendly and accessible. Only complaint was our table was a little small (for the very large menus) and close to the entry door, cold every time someone came in. Next time would clarify seating. Definitely will go back. One of the best in the area.
We had a delightful dinner. The service was very good and they had entertainment which was also enjoyable to listen to during dinner.
Our family went to dinner and everybody loved the evening. First, the cocktails were generously poured and the wait staff (Emily) was so kind and attentive. We all enjoyed an assortment of cheeses served on a logged wooden board with honey truffle(wow) and assorted jams, almonds, and light bread sticks while enjoying the fresh aroma of a sprig of roasted thyme. The appetizers were delicious, but the ravioli carbonara was OUTSTANDING (ravioli stuff with the yoke of egg and ricotta cheese gently bathed in a sauce that is simply delicious! Each of use ordered different entrees to include, fresh fish, veal parmigiana, braised short ribs, and shrimp and pea risotto. WOW! Oh, and the gnocchi is the best I ever had! The chef came out to visit each of the quest which added to the evening. A plus was a musician who played quietly in the background the flute, clarinet, tenor and soprano sax never taking a break! Thank you Assagio! A memorable night for my family. We will be back!
The food was undeniably delicious, everything from the appetizer to the meal itself. We went on a week night and a little later for dinner so it was fairly slow; our waitress was very slow and on her phone often instead of tending to our table and the one other table in the room. Aside from her lack of attentiveness it was very well worth it.
Wonderful ambiance and food. Thoroughly enjoyed the meatball appetizers.
We loved the freshly made pasta, and Emily was wonderful!
My cousinand his wife were here on a visit from Miami and what a pleasant surprise to fine that Mary and my cousin's wife were from Cuba Well what a wonderful time they had together. Don't ask me what they were saying but you would think that they knew each other all their lives. I am so glad that we took them there Mary makes you feel right at home. Food is wonderful too.
One of my favorite places. The beet gnocchi never disappoint.
Wonderful meal - great service - we eat at Assagio every time we are in Absecon
This was my second time at Assaggio and my guest’s first time. Truly enjoyed the meal along with the accompaniment of music while dining. Definitely felt welcomed and appreciate the excellent service. The fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp was creamy and light, definitely enjoyed the flavor and it was filling.
We returned to Assagio after a great first dinner there, and had another great meal. The food was absolutely wonderful. This time, we there was live music that did not compete with the ambiance, but complemented it. Our server, Dara, was an absolute delight, making spot-on recommendations, and couldn't have been more friendly. We can't wait until we can return again.
As a celiac, Assaggio is a dream come true. As someone who loves food, Assaggio is HEAVEN. The fresh ingredients, flavors, and quality of the food cannot be surpassed. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming while being romantic. The staff is always attentive and friendly. This is my favorite place!
Great food, but a little busy - only saw our server about 3 times because she was running around doing a million things. Other than that, great time, great music, great food, great wine!
Double Birthday celebration! Great food. Owner stopped at table- nice touch
I wanted very much to like this place as I had heard great things about it. Unfortunately, it was not to be. This restaurant has great potential but is under very poor management. The poor management will be the demise of this restaurant if not changed. They over-seated the restaurant, backing up the kitchen. We had dinner reservations for 7:00pm and were seated right away, but two hours later we still had not received our entree and we cashed out. We did manage to eat a salad and our two appetizers that we had ordered. The scallops were very good but the calamari came out room temperature. The caesar salad was good. I cannot fault the servers or the chef for our bad experience, only management.
I was taught that if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. I'll make an exception about our experience at Assaggio's on Saturday October 21, 2017. It was an embarrassment to say the least.
We had a 7:00pm reservation and were seated promptly into an already crowded dinning room. Initially I thought, wow this place must still be a great place to eat. Our server greeted us after about 10 minutes. We asked for some water and a bottle of red wine. After about 10 minutes the wine was served to us. We also ordered appetizers, salad and our dinners at that time.
The salad arrived in about 15 minutes but no sign of the appetizer. I asked about it and the server said it will be out shortly. In addition we also had to ask for some bread!
30 minutes later after this, an appetizer (like the one we ordered) came out of the kitchen and was delivered to another table that was seated 20 minutes after us.
We started noticing that most tables had no meals served yet and these were parties that had arrived before us and it was not difficult to see that these patrons were losing their patience as well.
Our server also was avoiding tables as apparently there was a major kitchen problem whether it be staff or equipment.
It was obvious that we may have had to wait late into the evening to get our dinners. Other parties were seeking out the owner with concerns about where there meal was...and when should they expect it.
After being at our table with only a bottle of wine a 1 salad for over an hour we finally got the attention of our server and told her to cancel our order. A few minutes later the owner came over and did not even apologize she just simply offered a free dessert to take with us. That was very insulting. There was no comping of the $9.00 salad or the $54.00 bottle of wine.
We will not return to Assaggio's ever again.
Great food and service. Many gluten free items to choose from and very knowledgeable staff and chef.
We always love our dinner at Assagio! Chef Jorge is creative and the food is always delicious!
We enjoy coming here. Very inventive menu. We went on a night that had louder then usual live music. The server was fantastic and the bus boy is always on top of things with clearing plates and filling the water glass. We asked for a table for 3 but not happy that one seat faced a wall instead of the floor.
we had a wonderful dinner, the wait staff was very friendly and comfortable ...and at the end of the meal we enjoyed a friendly conversation with the chef...we will definitely go back again
Always good at Assaggio. Mary, the owner, is on the scene to ensure a good time and the chef comes out to chat and make sure customers are happy. The live music does not obscure conversation and acts as a wonderful background. The food is really good.
We started with the burrata and the ravioli carbonara. Both were excellent. The ravioli carbonara with the egg yolk inside is something that has to be tried if one has not had it before.
We enjoyed our meals of Cannelloni and eggplant parmigiana.
We eat at Assaggio often and it has proven to be consistent.
Their Happy Hour is also very good. The meatballs are a must try. Along with the gnocchi!
Great food, great ownership. Always trying to please, always a smile
We love this restaurant, not only for the excellent and consistent food, but for the warm atmosphere. I had the stuffed artichokes as an appetizer and as my entree the barramundi special, which was delicious. One of our group had the eggplant parmigiana and she said it was excellent as well. Mary, the owner, came to our table to insure all was to our liking and she cared. A lovely little Italian restaurant worth the ride.
My husband and I had an excellent meal. Being an Italian I have high standards for an Italian restaurant, and this restaurant met them well! Restaurant was cosy and it was nice to be able to have a conversation with my friends without shouting. The pacing of our course was timely but we never felt rushed. We will definitely return often.
The food was excellent. Slow service due to kitchen delays. One of our apps was comp'd because of delay. Wait staff was very nice.
I had read all of the reviews and maybe it was just an off night but everything was a mess other than the chef and waitress trying to make up for a bad meal and drinks . I ordered two of the same drinks and they were both different on the third try it was still different than the first which I loved. The meal itself was not cooked, he seafood wasn't fresh and smelled like straight fish. It was very upsetting because I looked forward to it all week.
