Assaggio! Ratings and Reviews
We haven't been here since the location was Tre Filgio. The new owners have done a fantastic job in retooling the menu and increasing the quality of the food. Went there on Mothers Day and all six of us in out group had tasty food, large portions, and were impressed with the level of the food.
First time dining at Assaggio! and it will most certainly not be the last. I have to eat gluten free and there are not a lot a options in the area, almost none in fine dining. There are at least twenty-seven menu items that are gluten free. Assaggio!'s chef is brilliant; he's my new hero. The food was outstanding. My friend, who is not gluten free, decided to try the gluten free foods with me. She was amazed at how good the food was. The batter on the appetizer we had was light yet crunchy and the sauces were terrific. The entrees were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. It's not often I can get scallops in a restaurant that a fork with part like a hot knife through butter. I highly recommend the restaurant for anyone, whether you eat gluten free or not.
Always wonderful friendly atmosphere!! Dan and Katie (aka Judy) the bartenders amazing, Darra the waitress is always amazing and Mary the owner is caring and comes around to talk to everyone! Love the small bites as well as the dinners! You won't be disappointed!!
Excellent, as always. Have never had a bad meal here. Ambience very nice, Mike Marano plays beautiful background dinner music, very non-invasive. We had a bit of a loud table next to us which was annoying at times, but nothing to do with the restaurant. Food always delicious, service wonderful. May just be our favorite place!
To sum it up in one word the entire experience was "SPECIAL". We had great food and exceptional service from beginning to end.
My wife, brother and his girlfriend visited on a busy Saturday night. we arrived a little early and found that my brother was already seated.
We felt comfortable and sensed the warm friendly atmosphere from the moment we arrived. Our waitress, Dori, was excellent, being attentive, providing recommendations but not overbearing. She is a true asset for the restaurant. We had a wide array of offerings each outstanding. The appetizers selected included the Scallops Agridolce, which was absolutely amazing. The Eggplant Involtini was great and the stuffed long hot Peppers was very nice. We enjoyed the time afforded us between courses and was not rushed. When our entrees arrived we were all very pleased. The Cannelloni was a stand out and the special pasta dish including shrimp, crab and asparagus was excellent. The Rigatoni Bolognese was good but not as big a stand out as the other dishes.
Bottom line this was a remarkable experience and we will definitely be going back. As I observed the dinning room I sensed there were quite a few regulars both eating and at the bar. Not surprising.
We went there for Valentine's Day. First of all it was a very tight squeeze to get to are table, then the server came up to us after 5 mins of being there. We said let us look at the menu and we should be ready in a couple of min. We waited a half hr and she was so busy apologizing to her other customers for the wait. They had our server doing 20 tables by herself. So we knew that our dinning experience would suck!! So we got up and walked out after 45 min of not taking our order. They need to hire more servers or not take that many customers at once. So my personal experience sucked and I had to find a new place to eat on Valentine's at the last second.
My daughter and I happened by chance and this is now my favorite restaurant. There are no words to describe how amazing the food, ambiance, and experience was. Mary, who I assume is the owner, was celebrating her 60th birthday. She welcomed us with a warm smile and later spent time talking with us. Our server, Dori, was outstanding. With so many delicious choices, she was so helpful with making our final selection. My husband is gluten free and they had many dishes he'll be able to choose from so I can't wait to go back.
As always, we had an excellent dinner again at Assaggio's. Starting with the Amarone wine, Caesar salad, eggplant involtini, meatballs, veal parmigiana, fresh homemade pasta and biscotti. Mary is always friendly and the waitress was great. The live music was perfect and overall ambiance is relaxing. Assaggio's is my favorite!
Corner table offered with our reservation was perfect. Recommend cocktails to start. Our group of four enjoyed authentic Italian dishes well prepared and well served. Espresso just OK. Owners might consider paving gravel portion of parking lot. A good choice for dining in the Atlantic City region.
Not being familiar with the area, we were relying on other Open Table reviews. We were not disappointed. The food was wonderful, and the wait staff was friendly and accommodating. We were also pleased that there was live music. The next opportunity we have to visit this area, we will certainly visit Assaggio's again!
We had an amazing time! We made a reservation for 7pm, at 5pm we got a call stating with a party coming we may not be able to be seated right at 7pm but they made sure we had seats at the bar to have a cocktail. We were seated upstairs and by accident ended up with private dining. We LOVED the room upstairs for future bigger parties since it fits up to, we felt, 40 comfortably. Even had a piano!!! (Maybe a themed frank sinatra night upstairs, etc) :) . Dara was our server. We had her once before a few months earlier. She knew who we were, the style in which we order (Sharing courses), and we felt like a part of the family. Mary, the owner, even came to chat with us twice. Even with the party when we were at the bar, of about 75-80 people, they were so organized, had a bartender PLUS an extra person behind the bar if we wanted (and other patrons) needed food or drinks if the bartender was busy making other drinks, plus has had about -3-4 staff members on the floor so was quick service if you are looking for a plce to handle a huge party like that. Antonio has been there since we have been going there and he is just a hustler. You will NEVER have an empty glass of water, a finished plate in front of you, etc for very long, He is very attentive. I will be honest, the past couple of times, mainly because of "Murphy's Law" things may have not have been as perfect as previous times but this took the cake in terms of great service and an awesome dining experience. We used to travel an hour and a half from Middlesex county to eat here, that truly is how good it is. Certainly a diamond in the rough when you can find a place that is affordable with homemade pastas and an inventive Head Chef. We will be coming back as often as possible and if you have not tried it, PLEASE definitely take the chance and go. You WILL NOT be disappointed. Even an excellent happy hour at the bar $5 glasses of wine with a huge list to choose from. Keep up the great work!
Amazing Italian food!!! The best I've had in all the restaurants from Philly to Ac. If I'm not cooking at home, we usually go to Guimarella's in Westmont for Italian but, Saturday night we drove down to Assagio's and it was fantastic. We will definitely be back. The owner Mary, and the chef, both came over to say hello. The staff was very friendly and the food...outstanding! All the pasta is home made, my mother had Lobster & Shrimp Francaise that was so delicious and the Tuna Siciliani & Chicken Parmesan just as delicious!
If you're looking for a night out with the best food, entertainment, and service...this is it!
All my 4-stars were very close to 5s. Three couples, each sharing a different salad. Half portions were plenty and all were excellent. Everyone also enjoyed their entrees- and that included 5 different dishes. Desserts were fine but did not impress as much as the other courses. Our waitress was excellent! The support staff not as much. Water was refilled sporadically, we were never offered refills on coffee. They cleared plates while some at the table were still eating.
Overall we were very pleased. Even though it is a drive, we will return.
