Assaggio! Ratings and Reviews
My cousinand his wife were here on a visit from Miami and what a pleasant surprise to fine that Mary and my cousin's wife were from Cuba Well what a wonderful time they had together. Don't ask me what they were saying but you would think that they knew each other all their lives. I am so glad that we took them there Mary makes you feel right at home. Food is wonderful too.
This was my second time at Assaggio and my guest’s first time. Truly enjoyed the meal along with the accompaniment of music while dining. Definitely felt welcomed and appreciate the excellent service. The fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp was creamy and light, definitely enjoyed the flavor and it was filling.
We returned to Assagio after a great first dinner there, and had another great meal. The food was absolutely wonderful. This time, we there was live music that did not compete with the ambiance, but complemented it. Our server, Dara, was an absolute delight, making spot-on recommendations, and couldn't have been more friendly. We can't wait until we can return again.
As a celiac, Assaggio is a dream come true. As someone who loves food, Assaggio is HEAVEN. The fresh ingredients, flavors, and quality of the food cannot be surpassed. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming while being romantic. The staff is always attentive and friendly. This is my favorite place!
I wanted very much to like this place as I had heard great things about it. Unfortunately, it was not to be. This restaurant has great potential but is under very poor management. The poor management will be the demise of this restaurant if not changed. They over-seated the restaurant, backing up the kitchen. We had dinner reservations for 7:00pm and were seated right away, but two hours later we still had not received our entree and we cashed out. We did manage to eat a salad and our two appetizers that we had ordered. The scallops were very good but the calamari came out room temperature. The caesar salad was good. I cannot fault the servers or the chef for our bad experience, only management.
I was taught that if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. I'll make an exception about our experience at Assaggio's on Saturday October 21, 2017. It was an embarrassment to say the least.
We had a 7:00pm reservation and were seated promptly into an already crowded dinning room. Initially I thought, wow this place must still be a great place to eat. Our server greeted us after about 10 minutes. We asked for some water and a bottle of red wine. After about 10 minutes the wine was served to us. We also ordered appetizers, salad and our dinners at that time.
The salad arrived in about 15 minutes but no sign of the appetizer. I asked about it and the server said it will be out shortly. In addition we also had to ask for some bread!
30 minutes later after this, an appetizer (like the one we ordered) came out of the kitchen and was delivered to another table that was seated 20 minutes after us.
We started noticing that most tables had no meals served yet and these were parties that had arrived before us and it was not difficult to see that these patrons were losing their patience as well.
Our server also was avoiding tables as apparently there was a major kitchen problem whether it be staff or equipment.
It was obvious that we may have had to wait late into the evening to get our dinners. Other parties were seeking out the owner with concerns about where there meal was...and when should they expect it.
After being at our table with only a bottle of wine a 1 salad for over an hour we finally got the attention of our server and told her to cancel our order. A few minutes later the owner came over and did not even apologize she just simply offered a free dessert to take with us. That was very insulting. There was no comping of the $9.00 salad or the $54.00 bottle of wine.
We will not return to Assaggio's ever again.
We enjoy coming here. Very inventive menu. We went on a night that had louder then usual live music. The server was fantastic and the bus boy is always on top of things with clearing plates and filling the water glass. We asked for a table for 3 but not happy that one seat faced a wall instead of the floor.
We started with the burrata and the ravioli carbonara. Both were excellent. The ravioli carbonara with the egg yolk inside is something that has to be tried if one has not had it before.
We enjoyed our meals of Cannelloni and eggplant parmigiana.
We eat at Assaggio often and it has proven to be consistent.
Their Happy Hour is also very good. The meatballs are a must try. Along with the gnocchi!
We love this restaurant, not only for the excellent and consistent food, but for the warm atmosphere. I had the stuffed artichokes as an appetizer and as my entree the barramundi special, which was delicious. One of our group had the eggplant parmigiana and she said it was excellent as well. Mary, the owner, came to our table to insure all was to our liking and she cared. A lovely little Italian restaurant worth the ride.
My husband and I had an excellent meal. Being an Italian I have high standards for an Italian restaurant, and this restaurant met them well! Restaurant was cosy and it was nice to be able to have a conversation with my friends without shouting. The pacing of our course was timely but we never felt rushed. We will definitely return often.
I had read all of the reviews and maybe it was just an off night but everything was a mess other than the chef and waitress trying to make up for a bad meal and drinks . I ordered two of the same drinks and they were both different on the third try it was still different than the first which I loved. The meal itself was not cooked, he seafood wasn't fresh and smelled like straight fish. It was very upsetting because I looked forward to it all week.
My wife and I have dined at Assaggio numerous times, thoroughly enjoying every meal. When it came time for a family celebratory meal Assaggio was the natural choice. My extended family of 8 recently enjoyed a great night out at Assaggio. The service along with the food (and drinks by Dan!) were outstanding. We will be back and recommend to all.
My husband and I found Assaggio! in an online search. We chose to make a Rez because the menu looked amazing and offered a plethora of GF options, including fried calamari (dusted in corn starch instead of flour)- oh my! The veal was tasty and tender and covered in copious amounts of lump crab meat! My husband's crab cakes (also gluten free) were absolutely delicious, as was the house-made GF fettuccini.
In addition to the fabulous food, Dan, the bartender, Emily (?), our waitress, and Mary, the owner, were some of the friendliest folks we have met. They all get an "A+" in customer service!
We will most certainly make this a stop whenever we are in the area! You should too!
Always a good dinner at Assaggio. The homemade food, from the pasta to the biscotti, is very good. My husband raved over the veal parm and I totally enjoyed the scallops appetizer. It is a homey kind of environment since Mary, the owner comes by to the tables, as does the chef.
Live music is soft and really good for background.
Our party of 6 was placed upstairs at table away from live music on 1st floor. Placed our order and proceeded to wait and wait. Several tables who arrived 45 minutes after us were served their meals before we we got our main course. When we asked where our food was we were told too many orders went in at same time. 1 1/2 hours after ordering we finally got our meals. The pasta course did not come till we were finished with our entrees. 2 came then 10 minutes later the other 4. Asked to speak to manager. Chef came up and basically said sorry we busy. No offer of any compensation. Got dessert which was icecream. Had no spoon. Asked and the waitress never came back. Got spoon off neighboring table. Awful awful service. Poor response from management. We vacation with large group every year down here. Would never recommend. Our bill with tip was $390. Would expect at least average service for this. Don't let them put you in Siberia, upstairs.
Perfect birthday party for my daughter and 8 others. Beautiful and delicious triple chocolate decorated cake was provided and the service was excellent, courtesy of our fine waitress, Dara. The food was great: fresh made pasta, pork chop Milanese, Haddock, eggplant, calamari, veal parm, etc. Delicious baby amarone wine accompanied the fine food. Mary, owner of Assaggio, was a warm host and live music made the evening special.
