Assaggini di Roma - Hazlet Ratings and Reviews
Great Caesar salad, had a bold flavor of garlic and anchovy, which I prefer. The fresh mozzarella and roasted pepper/salad was also nicely plated and dressed well. I found the stuffed artichoke a little bland in taste with minimal bread crumbs, but that was not a deal breaker. My pork Osso Bucco was fork tender and flavorful, the sauce was a tad heavy, but tasty. The stuffed and sliced chicken breast entree was plentiful and had a nice texture and was seasoned well. I tried my friends eggplant rollatine and I loved it. Lightly floured and sauteed eggplant with a wonderful ricotta stuffing in a nice tomato sauce, was my favorite dish. I did not try the veal Marsala, but I was told that it was also a good choice. The service was a bit slow, but the dining room was packed, so it was hard to judge if it was the kitchen causing the delay. All in all, it was a nice dining experience.
Since the first of the year when I discovered Assaginni DiRoma, I've eaten there probably a dozen times.
The food is always excellent and the portions are large. The value is great, and the cost is very reasonable. I've taken all of my friends there because I know I will always get a good meal. Everyone I've taken has loved the place
The only concern is at a certain time - they tell you to leave - like if you have a later reservation after nine you may not finish your dinner LOL - and this has happened a few times .
THe one lady walks around and goes - time to go, we closing , etc...a little awkward .
This restaurant is becoming our 'go to' local restaurant because of its authentic Italian food and moderate prices. The food is consistently good, I have never had a bad meal there, and have eaten there numerous times. The pork chop dish with hot peppers is outstanding and the portion size is enough to take half of it home. They aren't great at managing the reservations, so you may have to wait for a table even with a reservation, but it's not a long wait. There just isn't a place to wait comfortably, as the place is small. I recommend Assiggini di Roma for anyone looking for a casual, good, Italian restaurant.
Made reservations for 4 last Saturday evening. Surprised we could get a table
Good was excellent and our server was. Efficient and very personable. Wish we had remembered her name so we could request her next time.
Very good food, byob (so we enjoyed very good wine), very reasonable prices, large portions and friendly courteous service what more could you ask for. No singer on Saturday and music was not overly loud as some folks on Yelp complained of. Great unpretentious Italian restaurant. We will go back often.
This was our second visit and we were not disappointed. My wife loves the spinach enough to order a side of it. My mother had the meatballs, my wife had chicken and I had the stuffed salmon. All were excellent. Service was a bit slower than the last time but with food this good, I can live with that.
Had a 6:45pm reservation, sat us promptly. Our meals were very good.
Was disappointed in the fact the a table diagonal from us had a dog at the table with them.(was not a service dog) Behind their table was a bin with the silverware wrapped in napkins. The dog kept sniffing these things, very unsanitary. Grossed us out. Brought it you our servers attention, didn't seem to care. Then while eating dessert our server brought us our check, came back rather quickly looking to see if we were ready to pay. We said we haven't looked at the bill yet. She said well we have people waiting at the door to be seated. Very disappointed, won't be going bad anytime soon.
We came here for the 2nd time with friends who came for the 1st time
Friday night 5-5-17. There was a DJ singing and playing music and it was so loud, you could not even talk to the person sitting next to you. During our 1st visit back in March there was no music and the place was really quite and enjoyable. We will not to back if there is any life music played Friday's
You need earplugs and the place is far to small for a screaming DJ playing music and singing
The food was Amazing! We had the fried shrimp and calamari from the special menu. We didn't expect it to be covered in sauce but it was deliscious. We also had the eggplant parm' veal chops and veal milanese - the portions were large and the price just right. This place is a hidden gem!
Usually good. Was given a lousy table and when asked for a change, said could not do. We have gone here many times before - have been out of town and not been in a few weeks. When we left there were still many tables empty where we have have preferred being seated. Will not go back for a while.
