Assaggini di Roma - Hazlet
Monday - Sunday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm
They treat everyone like family ❤️
Our 2nd visit and we were just as pleased this time as the first time. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a tasty meal in a comfortable restaurant.
This has become our go-to restaurant when looking for good Italian food, reasonably priced, without needing reservations too far in advance, although I would not recommend walking in on a weekend without a backup restaurant in mind. You may get in, or you may not, but they will try their best to accommodate you. Sometimes, they get large parties and that ties their hands. I always try to make a reservation, even if for same day. They are on OpenTable. The menu has all the standard Italian dishes. The pork chops and lamb chops are outstanding. The penne with Calamari and Shrimp is delicious, but make sure you order the fish sauteed. They also offer specials which are also very good. I would recommend this BYOB gem
love this place good food, friendly

Absolutely wonderful! The food is the best Italian fare!!!! Reasonably priced, very attentive staff!
Always good food and service. Whoever is in charge of making the sauces is awesome. Love the franchaise and the vodka sauce.
Wonderful food, wonderful servers, fair ambiance and much too noisy.
As always excellent food and Dee is the best !! Will be back there soon 👍🏼
Great food, great service abundant portions...BRAVO!!
Delicious food! Friendly and accommodating staff. A local treasure!
Restaurant decor is very appealing. Woman who greeted us was rude. We had a 6:30 reservation. She said "Here's your table. I have people coming 8:00." We waited about 10 minutes for someone to open our bottles of wine. The waitress opened one of two bottles. We had a bottle of white and a bottle of red wine. We waited for the waitress to return and when she didn't, we asked for someone to open the other bottle. Again, the same woman who greeted us replied rudely. She was also annoyed because because we asked for a glass of ice for my friend who wanted it for her red wine and a bucket of ice to keep the white wine chilled. Fortunately, the waitress who served us was very nice. The service is very slow but not the fault of the wait staff. The restaurant was filled to capacity.
The bruschetta was very salty and served on very soggy bread. Our appetizers arrived 7:15 and our meals were served 7:45. Makes me wonder where the people coming 8:00 were seated since we were eating our dinner at that time.My husband's scallops and shrimp were very salty so he didn't enjoy it. The rest of us enjoyed our meals. We didn't have dessert.
I got the feeling that restaurant guests who are regulars are treated well. Newcomers like us were not. That's too bad because maybe we would have become regulars and recommend this restaurant to others.
Obviously, we're not.
two couples went on a saturday night. Reservations are a must. Despite the restaurant being full, our service was attentive and not rushed. The food was excellent. IT IS A BYOB.
First timers, but the restaurant came highly recommended. Everyone was attentive and looking to make sure you have whatever you need. The food was delicious! We will definitely be back.
Our only negative is that two members of our party arrived early and was seated to wait for the rest of us. When we arrived we were seated elsewhere in the restaurant and were not told that our two guests were already in the restaurant. After 15 minutes we called our friends and they said they were in the restaurant for half an hour. The restaurant should have been more careful to make sure each portion of our group was aware the other people had already arrived.
Food, service as always was excellent.
Have gone here many times and never disappointed! Always has delicious specials. Can’t go wrong with this gem! Such a friendly staff and owner! BYOB too! You won’t be disappointed!
We had been here before and it was always a very good meal for the money. However, we dined there this past Saturday night and it was nothing short of horrible. From the appetizer to both the entrees. The calamari was mushy and over salted. The past dish was not edible because of the salt content and over cooked pasta. The chicken was tasteless. Our service on the other hand, was very good. We will not be back
Assaggini is an undiscovered gem. Hidden in a nondescript strip mall, it’s a charming delight. The restaurant is lovely and the service attentive and enthusiastic. The menu is old school Italian American (stuffed artichokes!). Although you won’t find many surprises, the food is well made and flavorful. One modest misstep was an appetizer of roasted peppers and anchovies. It appeared to be a small jar of peppers upended on a plate with 4 anchovy fillets surrounding it. It was not on the level of the other dishes. However, the rest of the meal was very satisfying. Save room for their desserts!
Arrived around 8:30 on Saturday Sept 9th. Server greet was not bad around 10 minutes. Seated along back booth area. Server took order around 8:45 which included salads. Came back to our table at 9:05 and asked what we ordered again?? Had to give her order again and waited another 14 minutes for salads. Meals came around 9:35pm. I ordered the vodka sauce chicken parmesan. Received regular chicken parm. Did not want to send back at this point. Overall just not a good experience. Usually better.
We have eaten here before however this time the owner/manager was very rude. We had a reservation for 6:30 and arrived at 6:25. At this time the place was fairly empty. We asked for 1 side of the restaurant and she proceeded to put us on the other. We asked to move and she mumbled that we were only 3 but both tables were 4 tops. We were rushed through our food and although she stopped by every other table she ignored us completely. We did nothing wrong and we were no treated nicely. Won’t be going back.
Dee is the best 😘 we always have an incredible meal cooked by her sons. Great people great food great times. We love Assigini
Always enjoyable! Always great service! Always great food!Never disappointed! !! Our favorite place! My husband had the Veal parm. Said it was outstanding ! I had the chicken romona..cream sauce with mushrooms! It melted in my mouth! Can't wait to go back! Thank you for always making us feel so special!
Service was excellent. Staff was attentive and professional. Food was served quickly. Prices are good but our food was mediocre at best. Veal dish was tasteless. Shrimp parm was good but somewhat overcooked making for rubbery shrimp. The place is very loud. Could not hold a quiet conversation. Have been in sports bars quieter than this restaurant. If we ever go back it will not be on a Saturday night. BYOB is a nice feature.
We love it here! The food is excellent, the place is beautiful, the music is great and the live music is fantastic too! The employees are all so nice and accommodating. This is our favorite place to go and we brag about how great it is.
Excellent food and fresh quality..cant wait to return...rbk
Great food!Great service! Great entertainment! Can't wait to go back! Our favorite place in New Jersey!
Tacky.... Embarrassing entertainer singing in very small venue. We would never have gone if we knew that was happening. Loud, awkward. Food mediocre. Very bland from seafood to bolognese to scallops....
Great food and a fun place with live entertainment. And it’s BYOB! Will be back again very soon.
Excellent service; great food; can’t wait to go back again.
Very good meal for reasonable price. Love the fact that its BYOB.
We made reservations and were seated immediately. However it took a while to be waited on, even to receive water and have our wine opened. It was pretty busy. The food was fantastic.
I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed.
I went on a Tuesday nite since I read that it is very busy on the weekend.
No regrets. Food was great and the server was friendly and courteous.
I have been here several times for dinner and also once for a catered party. They never fail to meet my expectations. The food is always well prepared and flavorful, served hot, and generous portions. This restaurant is well worth a visit for any occasion. My highest complements to the owner, manager, and last but not least the chef.
Great food. Calamari was unbelievable. Bring wine
Pasta with vodka sauce was great. Didn't love our dinners as much as usual tonight. But we'll still be back. Maybe just an off night.
Beautiful atmosphere! Great service! Great food! One of our favorite places to dine! My husband enjoyed the New York Steak! Cooked perfect! Did not need a steak knife to cut it! It was so tender. ..I enjoyed the chicken with sautéed mushrooms in a lite cream sauce. .The BEST! !! Can't wait to go back! !!!
This was our fourth visit, but the food was not as good as on previous occasions. Maybe if our waitress had shared the day's specials with us, we would have enjoyed one of those more. After we had ordered, we overhead as a nearby table was being told. The spinach also did not have the same flavor as on previous visits. Good this time, but far from great.
Vodka chicken parm over angel hair pasta was delish. Lasagna was awesome as well.
Table for five please!!
Outstanding first experience at this hidden gem on Rt 35.
Made Open Table reservations the night before and snagged a table for 6:30 with my wife and three children.
We were greeted by the front desk as she was helping out the wait staff. Seated promptly.
We were served a delicious bruschetta as we looked over the menu and specials. We ordered calamari and long grilled hot peppers for an appetizer. very nicely done calamari with hot sauce was great. Tender
My wife enjoyed the eggplant Parmesan, my daughter had Quattro Frimmagio pasta ( outstanding), my 14 year old loved a special chicken Parmesan with vodka sauce over angel hair pasta, my youngest loved penne with meatballs and ricotta cheese.
I had veal Parmesan and it was outstanding.
Best local Italian restaurant I’ve been to in years. We went to an old favorite Pieros a month ago and this was far better.
We will return for sure. The 20 minutes from old Bridge well worth the drive.
A good dining experience.
Food is amazing and staff is equally amazing!
