Birthday with Momma
I am a regular Aspen's customer as we eat at Aspen's on average two times per month. I do not like the new menu. I understand the need for new menu items, but there are a few favorite options missing!
The food was not as good as what I expected, especially for the price. I have paid for a $70 ribeye steak before. However, this steak was only $42 and I could have done better myself. I do not think that they believe in seasoning food.
The ambiance was satisfying and the alcohol drinks were excellent.
This restaurant is just not my "cup of tea"
A little disappointed!!
We are big fans of Aspens. Their steaks are fantastic, and I can always count on good service. Their consistency is one of the things I like most about the place, and over the years we have never been disappointed.
We each had the filet - prepared perfectly. The wine selection was good with a good price range for anyone. Desserts & service were great as well. We will be back.
Always seems to be excellent all around.
As usual Aspen was squared away. Excellent drinks. We had the prime rib special. One was good as usual; the other a tad fatty. We were offered another cut but declined. Try comped a round of drinks. A nice touch. The Aspen does service right. Always cordially welcomed. Water, bread and table setting handled very well. Food and drink order handled and served impeccably by Katy. Recognized are anniversary with desert with a personalized touch. We love dining at Aspen. We look forward to coming back soon. Thanks for a nice evening.
Awesome! Great food & service!
Absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The food was delicious! We had a wonderful meal. We have been many times, and highly recommend!
The service and food were both outstanding. Steak was perfect, so was the lobster tail.
Went for Easter Sunday brunch buffet — Food was good, but not great. Food from regular menu on “normal” days is usually much better. Felt $30/person was a little too high for the mostly cafeteria-style entrees/veggies offered. Will definitely return for a regular dinner, but not so sure about future brunches.
First, we waited over 20 minutes for our 1:30pm reservation on Easter Sunday.
Then, once we were seated it had to have been over 80 degrees. We asked our waiter if anything could be done about the heat, and he stated that management just turned on the air. Why would you wait until after noon to turn on the air on a Spring day you know you will be busy?
Once it was time for us to get our food, we realized they were out of prime rib and were told that they didn't have any. After speaking with management, they brought some out, but the story we got from the waiter is they ran out for brunch and now because we were going to have some, they likely wouldn't have any for dinner. This was after one of my family members had asked another member of management and was told something to the effect of "what do you want me to do? I can't guess how many servings each person will have." Um, that is your job, you had reservations and you should have estimated at least everyone would have 1-2 servings.
Last, but not least, there dessert "bar" was a bunch of stale looking pastries. They supposedly had special moousse that day replacing the key lime pie and beignets, but alas, they were out of those too!
I blame our experience solely on management. The waiter did the best he could and was pleasurable, but they clearly set him up for failure. It's really sad, this used to be one of our "go-to" establishments, but they have really gone downhill.
Disappointed again by Aspens. There was not enough staff to keep our drinks filled or plates cleared. The food was not good at the buffet. The carving station and omelette station were not prepared. I really wish this place was better as it is so close to my house.
We went for Easter brunch, it was good with a wide selection of food and their biscuits and gravy were wonderful. We got there at 12:30 and they had about run out of prime rib, but had turkey, pork loin, and ham. I prefer dinner here, personally.
Went for Easter brunch. Excellent service, thank you GG, God se li action and tasty food on buffet. Well worth the money.
Have been here before for dinner (which was excellent) and thought we'd try it for Easter Brunch. I will acknowledge good price point and very good, yet unhurried, service. The food was only ok, however and would not merit a long drive to get there. Standard brunch food which might have been tastier had it been kept warmer. Salmon croquettes felt like they were out of the box from the grocery store. Omelettes were fine and the meat cuts were tasty. Biscuits, not so much... A couple of French Toast slices were burnt and did not get removed from the tray. Desserts were ok.
Overall not a strikeout but no more than a single when it could have been at least a double.
Will return for a dinner, not likely for another brunch.
I already posted my displeasure on Yelp. We have dined at Aspens quite a few times over the years and we loved it and would always recommend it to friends. We brought our whole family there last Christmas Eve and I was embarrassed....won't go into that story...just figured it was a busy night and things happened. This year we went for Easter brunch. We've done this atleast 4 times...waited too long last year and couldn't get reservations. Well we were shocked at the total experience....the service was fine but the food was AWFUL. Everything and I mean everything on the hot bar was cold. The salad selection was half of what I remembered. I had an omelette and it was just okay. The dessert table was a joke. I think they went to Kroger, bought some ready made pastries and cut them into bite size pieces to spread them out. They use to have a great selection. When they took us to our booth the seat apparently had a large, And I mean large cut or rip in the seat and they had it covered in plastic and duck tape. You could tell it had been that way for awhile. Our reservation were for 11:30 and the place never filled up like it has in the past. Maybe there's a reason. Sorry....will never go back and that makes me sad.
Aspens used to be one of our favorite restaurants. We went this year for Easter brunch and were very disappointed. The food was very average, and they got rid of some of their specialties (cinnamon beniegts) for grocery store pastries. We definitely won't be back for brunch again.
This visit to Aspens completely changed my opinion of the place. It was on my "avoid" list and it had been 5+ years since I'd eaten there. This visit, my Mother suggested it, and I decided to give it another chance. I do really like their menu - plenty of interesting options other than steak.
First off, the service was top notch and that wasn't a surprise. They did make an error on my meal, but they handled it wonderfully, which is all that matters IMO. I'm drawing a blank on our server's name, but she was great.
As for the food:
Crab cake - while the sauce it was served on didn't really add any value, the crab cake itself was outstanding, and the slaw on top added a perfect textural component.
Mac & Cheese - good, but not great. Needed a salty cheese (or more of a salty cheese)
Chicken Schnitzel - really just fried chicken, but nicely done. Worth getting if you're not looking for a steak.
Bone-in Ribeye (Garlic & Chive Butter) - This is where they surprised me. I almost didn't order a steak because of low expectations...but I wanted a steak. And they delivered - good quality meat, nice char on the outside, perfect medium-rare on the inside, and I highly recommend the Garlic & Chive butter. Not as good as the top tier of Atlanta steakhouses (Bones, Chops, Hal's, etc), but certainly in the 2nd tier.
Ultimately, while Aspens isn't inexpensive, it's about 10-20% less expensive than comparable in-town restaurants, so I'd consider it a good value for what you're getting.
Bonus points for having blue cheese olives for martinis!
We had not been in a while, but they proved to be as great as we remembered. Consistently performing above average. Started with tuna two ways... Very fresh take on tuna. Steaks cooked perfectly and all the sides are sumptuous. (We wanted to order all of them). Worth a visit if you have not been.
We love Aspens! It's one of our "go-to" restaurants for consistently delicious food and drink. We have tried several dishes there and all have been great. Service is always friendly, prompt and courteous.
Amazing atmosphere, service, ambiance. Great steaks...
Delicious food and great service
Excellent choice for Sunday supper. Early bird specials are great value. Going back again soon.
Have dined at Aspens many times over the years and never been disappointed until last night. Service extremely slow, food was served tepid and scallop dish was over salted/seasoned. Hope this was just an off evening and not a permanant decline
We go early for the early bird special but it is not a disappointment. I have steak and scampi for a reasonable price. Others had prime rid. Everyone happy.
The steaks we're super!
Only disappointment is they do not offer the caviar spread for bread since the particular caviar used cannot be sourced. I hope they find a substitute.
The steaks are always cooked perfectly; you can count on it.
Always happy with our experience at Aspens. We go there for almost all of our special occasions. The atmosphere is perfect.
We have been enjoying Aspens since they opened their restaurant at Sandy Plains & Shallowford. The food is always superb, and we love the atmosphere.
They might try adding new things to the menu a little more often for more variety.
This visit to Aspens was one of the best we have had here.
The highlight of the dinner was my steak - a 16 oz bone-in Filet. Fantastic and I am a hard grader. This was better than Bones! The filet was ample and cooked precisely as I requested - medium rare. When I am paying this much for a steak I expect orgasmic, and it was fantastic.
For the side dish I had sautéed spinach and it was perfectly cooked. Sometimes I get this dish and its overdone, this one was truly fresh, flavorful, and not over cooked at all. Really good.
My wife had the Tuna Two Ways and a Caesar Salad. The Tuna was excellent, a tuna poke and a few slices of seared tuna. Both were fresh and very good. The Caesar Salad was unremarkable, not bad just fair but she said the croutons were particularly tasty.
To round it out: the bread I believe was sourdough, nice and hot, really good. I had a martini and we got a bottle of Cabernet that was new, apparently affiliated with the Zach Brown band? We shared a small piece of Red Velvet cake for dessert, which was super rich and satisfying. Finally, kudos to our server Thomas, who was excellent.
I’m actually a fish lover and go for the great fresh fish selections! Grilled trout with Gouda grits and sautéed spinach was delicious. The week prior I had delicious Amberjack. The ambiance is lovely. Only minor concern was I had indicated we were celebrating a birthday for our friend and there was no acknowledgement of it. We will be back - love the early bird options, too!
Great food, ambiance, & service for our family get together!
Restaurant is always top notch. The staff there from the bartender to our server Jan are incredibly polite, sharp, well informed and eager to please. Dinner was great and prepared well we always enjoy Aspens and look forward to another meal there.
Never had a bad experience at this restaurant. The service has always been tops.....servers are knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Food is always just right. There is a range of prices to suit most budgets.
Never disappoints. Aspens always delivers and makes every occasion special.
