Here at Aslam's Rasoi, we also add a broad palette of Pakistani flavors to our menu and we are proud to see that our addition of Pakistani cuisine has proved a successful choice.
This blending of cuisine can be readily enjoyed in our main courses and our selection of appetizers. We hope you will try these dishes in addition to our inventive Indian Cuisine.
We love this place. Very good service, very good food. Always reliable.
Love this place, the curries are great and the naans are really good. Good curries are hard to find in San Francisco!
For the reviews about bad service - our server was great but we did run dry on drinks. When our food came to the table it was pretty much thrown out and we had no idea what was what. BUT, it wasn't that bad and the food was amazing.
We how're a group of 5 and we had curries, rice naan, apps, tandori platter, sides and beers and it was under $50 per head with tip.
Had to pick a place to accommodate various dietary preferences and Aslam's Rasoi place came to the rescue. Carnivores, Vegans, Pescatarians, Gluten-intolerant, Lactose-intolerant, Vegetarians all had tasty dishes from which to choose!
Great little place - we had curries, naans, tandori chicken, everything was good! Slightly more expensive than other places ($2/3 per curry, nothing major) but was worth it, and the service was great. Will be back!
We returned to Aslam's Rasoi (it has become an occasional go-to spot when we're in the City). Our party of three arrived in advance of our reservation time (it look considerably less time than expected to get across town), but even on a Saturday night, they were able to seat us immediately. The hostess/server was upbeat and friendly, and quickly took our order for beverages, appetizers, and indeed the rest of the meal.
Beverages arrived, and seemingly within about five minutes after that, all of the meal, with the distinct exception of the samosas we had ordered as an appetizer. After reminding the gentleman who delivered the food from the kitchen that we had placed an order for samosas as an appetizer, but had the entire meal already on the table, he went off, and brought out the appetizers, as we were already well into the meal. The original hostess/server returned, apologizing that we were one of four tables whose appetizer orders were not received until late.
The meal was delicious, with tremendous portions most suitable for family-style sharing, although the samosas, which we were looking forward to from the beginning, ended up going home as leftovers, uneaten, along with decent remaining portions of three of the entrées, and two servings of rice pudding (on the house, as an apology for messing up the appetizer).
So, to summarize: the food, as usual, did not disappoint, with great flavors, good-size portions, and at a good price; service was blisteringly quick (even if out of meal order); and the overall experience was enjoyable. On this particular visit, a long table of particularly loud guests (sparked further with four or five carafes of wine) got, at times, obnoxiously out of hand, with some of the group's guests having to dominate the entire table's conversations by talking louder than almost all the rest of the party combined. This went from manageable to annoying. We'll be back, though may request a move away from a loud table. We'll be back, though!
The service was poor. The food took too long to get, waitress was inattentive, and no dessert was available. The quality of food was ok but over priced. Not returning
Really just an excellent meal with very friendly service. Perfectly cooked shrimp, chicken and lamb.
Love this place. Best Pakistani/Indian food in SF. Naan is fantastic! i eat mostly veggie dishes, but it's all awesome! i introduce all my friends to this place and have never had a single complaint- they all go back!
Perfect spot for a late night bite. Delicious food, fast service and very attentive!
I really wanted to like the place as, although new, the waiter was enthusiastic and English was obviously his 2nd language. However, the curries we're pretty bland and the already scant wine list was reduced further when they didn't have the first two bottles we ordered.
Every visit to Aslam’s is a great experience. The food is superb and the service is top notch! The owner Mohammed is always so welcoming and know how to cook the tastiest Indian treats! Go to Aslam’s, you won’t be disappointed!
Aslam's Rasoi has a great family ambiance, with delicious dinning!!!
We made a reservation at Aslam for a birthday dinner. This was for a party of 18. They were very accommodating and welcoming. They called the day of to confirm the reservations and asked if we needed any accommodations. They set up tables specific for our party so we could all be seated together. We did not have to sign a contract or have a pre-scheduled menu selection like other restaurants usually require for large groups. Outstanding service! They were checking in with us often to make sure everything was to our expectation. Very patient staff as well, as some of our party showed up late. They stored the birthday cake for us in their fridge that I bought prior. They also set up the birthday candles and lighted the cake with perfect timing for the birthday boy! The food was good. We order multiple plates as the portions are small-medium size servings. Definitely recommend this place for dinner to large groups on the weekends in SF.
As usual the food was the star but the wine list while small is very on point. We were a group of 18 so service was very good considering. They worked very hard to get the right food to the right person. A very pleasant experience.
Always an enjoyable meal, terrific naan and murgh makhani! Nice how spice level is adjusted to your liking. Great service too.
Possibly my favorite Indian food restaurant ever! I live in So Cal and make it a point to dine @ Aslam's whenever I'm in the Bay Area - which isn't frequently enough, if you ask me! Food is fresh, tasty, authentic and priced right!
Aslam’s is the best Indian food in San Francisco and the best I’ve ever had, anywhere in the country. Aslam is back there in the kitchen, creating these savory delicious dishes with loving care so the quality and taste is consistent any time you go. I moved away ten years ago and I dream about Aslam’s cooking. Obviously, I make a point to dine there every time I visit and I’m always treated like family. Just cannot say enough about this awesome restaurant and owner/chef Aslam!
This place is just consistently great. Its tandoori dishes are the best in the Bay Area.
Great food! Really nice, fun people. Family owned restaurant. We will certainly be back. If you like lamb, this is your place. It was divine.
Always delicious! Provided a great evening out with good friends, and they were all blown away by the tasty dishes!
Good, authentic Indian food. There is a nearby parking garage as street parking is almost impossible to find.
This was my 2nd visit to Aslam's Rasoi. I was so pleasantly surprised the first time, I could not wait to return. I had the Mixed Tandoori both time. The fish and prawns especially were amazing, perfectly prepared. Loved the vegetables on which they were served. Had the roasted eggplant in addition and it was very flavorful. With a nice kick. Shall definitely return and venture to other items on the menu.
Tasty food. Great menu with many options. Serviceminded personnel.
Awesome food staff and location
The server was attentive and knowledgeable, and helped us to choose the dishes. Great food, accompanied with lassi and Indian beer.
Had an early dinner with 2 kids who only eat moderate spices. That often means bland Indian food. Not here! The best Indian food I've had outside of NY. Our waitress and the staff provided great service even bringing additional rice and raita and complimentary mango lasso. We sat at a window table looking out at the traffic on Valencia. I've found my Indian spot in SF!
Food was fantastic & fresh! Never been disappointed, yet.
Try their Pakistani curry. Also try the paneer tandoori. Absolutely delicious!
Wonderful food, terrific service, highly recommend!
The restaurant was able to accommodate our group of 8 on a Saturday night with only one day notice. Great value, great dishes, delightful dining experience!
I have been going to Aslam's Rasoi foir many years. The food was and remains fantastic. It is a lovely room which used to be timeless ,like you were in Jakarta ,Kolkata or Kathmandu which made it seem like a cool refuge in a warm country with its really high ceiling fans and arches. I really preferred the previous hand-painted , brightly colored , more beautiful and funky Indian /Hindu/Pakastani/Buddhist decor and ambience to the attempt to attract techies with the boring flat dull gray /somber / uninspired "modern " drek that now passes for San Francisco interior (removing all cultural colors & symbols) .
Good, well done food. I liked the masala nimbu paani (limeade).
Slow/no service though. We were placed in a corner and no one ever came. We had to ask for water after waiting like 10 minutes. Then we had to ask for someone to come take our order. This was at 9pm on Saturday night so it was a little busy but they could have at least given us water.
They were also playing loud punjabi music. When we asked them to turn it down, they obliged so our group was thankful for that.
Love this place. Best Indian in San Francisco. Rec'd the chicken tikka masala and the samosas. Sitting in the window is great for Mission people watching. This is a family owned and run business.
We arrived at 7:15 and the restaurant was pretty quiet. We ordered our food and it arrived quickly, the staff was super friendly and attentive. We ordered the appetizer sampler, it's a bit small so I would recommend 1 for 2 people to share, we were a table of 4 so we should have ordered another, but the food came pretty quick so it wasn't an issue. We ordered the Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka, Paneer Tikka Masala, and the Chicken Tikka Masala and a side of rice to share. It was all delicious! We also ended up ordering 3 orders of the Garlic Naan, it was so good, we kept ordering more. Overall, such a cute place with delicious food. I'll definitely go back! So glad we picked this place over DOSA.
This used to be my favorite for Indian food in SF but I'm afraid i'll no longer be coming back.
The remodeled dining room was so noisy we had to yell at one another and even then it was difficult to hear. We couldn't wait to leave, the noise was so disruptive.
The food was just ok. Our tandoori chicken (a $22 dish) was over cooked and dry/chewy. The kitchen seems to have lost its passion for consistency, quality and bold flavor.
They were understaffed that night, too. It was hard to get the attention of staff to even let them know something was wrong. That was really frustrating.
The whole experience was a fail.
It is unlikely we will return. With so many Indian restaurants to choose from, I can't see risking another bad experience at Aslam's Rasoi.
Excellent food and service! Great price as well :)
Great food, probably best Indian food I had outside of India. Samosa is great!
3 waiters running the entire restaurant.
The crowd there was really happy and friendly. Everyone joined in to sing me happy birthday, even most of the strangers.
