Staff very kind, Maine lobster fabulous
We'd mentioned that it was a special occasion, but it didn't feel very special. Service was slow and the menu is underwhelming. Boring and bland and felt far too expensive for what it was. We ended up having one drink (that took quite a while to order and receive) and left.
Staff were really nice but the food was average & way over priced
The food was nothing to write home about and if you want compare the quality of the food to the price Not Good At ALL. I actually could not believe the price for for such flavorless food...a sham. I'm not a crazy "foodie" either, generally very easily pleased. But the service was great!, room was pretty, the view was ehhh.
We went to Asiate for our first morning in NYC.
The views from the restaurant are excellent and it is worth a visit for those alone. The staff were also fantastic and very accommodating. We were so grateful to them for allowing us to move beside the window.
The food, however, is extremely average, especially for what you would expect at the Mandarin Oriental at those prices. The eggs, very important part of brunch, were poor and we had to send one plate back. We paid over $20 for eggs which you would send back at any restaurant in the world. Very disappointing.
As for value, and as I have hinted above, the prices are ridiculously inflated for what is on offer.
Do not go to Asiate if you want a good breakfast. Go if you want to sit and look at some great views and are not too bothered about justifying your presence there with an overpriced cup of average coffee.
My wife and I frequent Asiate several times a year. The restaurant and hotel management make a conscientious effort to produce a high caliber product; they always succeed. Service is impeccable, the ambiance romantic ( you have the best view of Manhattan), and they make you feel cared for and special. If you have dietary restrictions, they thoughtfully and seamlessly make an effort to accommodate you. The Sommeliers David and Slim are very knowledgeable and friendly, and the wine list is well thought out. The restaurant and bar appear to have had some renovations, and the place is spotless. The only hiccup is if there is a wedding going on in the ballroom, the sound carries over into the dining area...this can be somewhat annoying, so if you happen to obsess (as I do), inquire if there is a wedding going on at the same time....
We really enjoy Asiate, it is among Gotham’s finest establishments.
View was spectacular! Our server Davorka was most hospitable and was truly delightful. Kudos to the entire team.
Juste for the view, very poor kitchen. Bad quality price deal.
Exceptional restaurant!! We tried the chef’s tasting menu.
Everything was very good, except the turbot. Flat taste.
Love the very attentive staff, view and ambiance is great.
Also, excellent choice of wines.
A little pricey.
It was an amazing experience. We will definitely be back.
The ambient, the decoration and the view are astonishing. The service is very good. But the food ... deserves more attention. We have the tasting menu and it was not what we expected. Very expensive for what is offered.
Great service and a beautiful view of Central Park. Dinner was excellent.
Location is awesome and panoramic view from 35th floor (where restaurant is located) were fantastic. Food and wine was very good. it is not a cheap restaurant but definitely worth any dollar i paid.
We came to Asiate for dinner again. We ordered the tasting menu. The food is even better than that of last time. The creation and taste of the food are excellent. The Wagyu Beef is a must order. The service is also as good as it was.
The ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant is definitely top tier. It’s comfortable and the view of Central Park is very nice, especially with the lights in the dining room. I’d say that the food isn’t “exceptional,” but I’m not a food critic so excuse my taste buds for not being refined. For my occasion, it was very fitting. I would definitely go again.
We were not impressed with the service or food. We spent $700 and did not order bottles of wine. The food was ok but not near the level we expected. Do not recommend.
I’ve asked three times prior to my reservation if I can have a window seat on three separate dates and I was told it’s Not guaranteed and they will leave a special note on my reservation I did not get not guaranteed and they will be special note on my reservation I did not get a window seat and that was very disappointing
A magic moment. Everything was perfect from the greetings when we arrived to the end of the dinner. Exceptional view of New York. We expect that kind of service from Mandarin Oriental. Thank you for the moment.
Overpriced and underwhelming
Would not recommend
Staff is nice
Excellent service, beautiful set and marvelous view from the top of the 35th floor on the Time Warner Building!
Now, about the food, the least I can say is that it was disappointing.
It was a previous set Valentines menu, starting with some breads (none of which came warm to the table), followed by a tiny little oyster as a starter (which I swallowed without even noticing it), a Foi Gras with Black Truffle with no taste at all (although the two ingredients are known to be very tasty) as a second course, a Wagyu ok as an entrée, and a good White Chocolate Mousse as dessert.
The price for that? Although I was aware and willing to pay for a well done food in a very nice ambience, it was definitely very high for what we’ve got.
My wife’s opinion? The same as mine, but for the Entrée, which for her was not even ok.
By the way, when we were leaving, Annabelle and her colleague, whom have treated us very well all the time, asked us about our experience, which we honestly told them. I hope they have told management about it.
Complete package of amazingness. Great staff, food, service and view. Dined on Feb 13 for a birthday and were seated at a very special table. Had a sumptuous 3-course. Grapefruit juice was a hit. And course the birthday dessert (yummmm)!
Everything was good, the food, the view, the service. Although the waiter added a cheese plate that we didn’t order to our check. It was a small mistake but it wasn’t pleasant. Anyway Asiate is a nice place with a great view.
Pre-valentines dinner. I am a fan. Dinner was great I’ll eat here again. I had Lamb my wife had the duck both cooked exactly how we wanted. Appetizers were Foie Gras and octopus. The food and view were awesome.
Absolutely amazing views. The appratizer course was average. The second beef course was outstanding. The dessert was fair as well. The service was seamless and outstanding.
Went here for my husband's birthday. The view was magnificent! And the service was great too.
The service and the location are outstanding! The food is excellent and imaginatively created and well crafted. Certainly the top billing goes to the views, that are top in the world!
After checking the menu on OpenTable, I made a reservation for lunch only to discover the menu was incorrect! The price fix lunch was $45 not $38 And the appetizers online were not the ones served by the restaurant, neither of which I was able to eat because of dietary restrictions. Either open table or the restaurant should update the listing. I found portions on the regular menu to be small. For example the serving of “turnips” which came with the duck breast consisted of three small wedges the size of a grape! On the plus side service was attentive And the view magnificent.
It started with having a gentlemen with his hired date sitting in front of us and her companion, wing girl. Constantly taking photos on each other’s laps, leaving and returning several times. Then another couple face timing on the other side of us, thankfully the manager ended that. Service was very attentive. The food was lackluster in appearance and was stale and overdone. A black truffle pasta with fresh shavings had zero flavor. Desserts were dry and seemingly sitting for too long.
For a $400 meal for 2 people, I would highly recommend all guests stay away. It’s really not good. Overrated for food, except for the view and ambience.
Love Asiate! Been here too many times to count. Great view of Central Park!
Went there for our anniversary and the view. All tables by the window were occupied when we arrived but the waiter made sure to transfer us over the minute one was available. Very attentive staff and absolutely phenomenal food and drinks!
What an incredible experience. From beginning to end we experienced nothing but top notch service. The young Maitre D Jonathan Caretsky and his brilliant team took such great care of my husband and I throughout the night.
We will definitely be visiting again.
I have long been a fan of Asiate. One challenge for fine dining restaurants is to maintain consistency. Asiate excels in that regard - always a warm and welcome, great at honoring reservations, creative cuisine ranging from simple, elegant items to food through which creative chefs in the kitchen express their art. The service is great, the food is great, the prices are reasonable for a high end restaurant. And the spectacular view of Columbus Circle and Central Park can't be beat.
I got engaged! The staff was so helpful and accommodating to my (then boyfriend’s) needs!
food was great portions on the small side view is fantastic
Great date spot, elegant, impressive will definitely be going back.
it is an amazing view over Central Park, nice decor and ambiance, brunch menu was balanced and the wine list excellent, pace of food was good and the service overall was excellent, welcoming was great and we had enough space to carry out a private conversation, prices are high but the restaurant is unique
