Asian Spice is on the edge of Chinatown, providing easy access from the Gallery Place Metro stop. It is less crowded than other eateries in the vicinity, which we like.
The menu is 'pan-Asian', featuring a little of everything - sushi, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, etc. The service is on the slow side - you sometimes feel forgotten. But the food is consistently good. We stop in for sushi every so often. Good appetizer selection too.
Good option in this crowded corridor.
Love the sushi here!
Went here seeking good Asian food in the Chinatown district of DC. Very mediocre. Bad start when I tried to order several Belgian beers on their menu, Each time the waiter came back stating they were out. After the fourth try I asked her what beers they DID have. Luckily they had one I liked but very frustrating. Miso soup tasted instant. Main dish of Korean BBQ also unimpressive and rather tasteless, though the kimchi and rice were good. Disappointed.
Great food and service. Highly recommended!! We were seated quickly on a Friday night and the food was delivered fresh and promptly
Great food and service... excellent
Was good nothing exceptional but solid
The food was unimpressive. Quality was average and taste was fair.
Food was great. Nice Variety. Excellent service. Authentic flavors.
Our server was good, the food was average. We all enjoyed our meals and the price was pretty good as well.
Went to the restaurant before an afternoon Wizards game for lunch. Service was great. Food was good to above average. Location was just right.
Eaten here several times, when in Chinatown, where I have eaten often - probably sampled pretty much everyone there. Above average for the neighborhood in ambiance, service, cleanliness, inventiveness of menu and generally for the food. Unfortunately that is a low bar. It isn't truly great food, but for people out for a very nice meal, in a nice spot, at (for DC) decent to low prices, it is an excellent choice. Pan-Asian choices, allowing us to have Japanese, Korean and Chinese elements at the same meal.
Yummy veggie bento box and well-prepared gluten free noodles
Open on Christmas. Noting special but nothin bad. Goo service. Good selection and of dishes and beers. A safe bet
A very interesting menu that offers Chinese, Korean, and Thai dishes, along with a nice Sushi selection. We tried a Korean steak dish, Pad Thai, and a Korean spiced chicken dish, along with a Thai inspired Fried Rice dish and a couple of Sushi rolls. All were excellent.
Reservations were waiting, staff was friendly. Food was quick and very good.
This place was close to our hotel so we wandered over and were seated immediate upstairs. Somewhat noisy with families but not bad. Server was a little slow on drinks but the rest of the meal was served promptly. Lamb kebabs were surprisingly dull but the shumai was good. Penang curry was great. Crispy duck noodle so-so. Overall good but not 5 star. I would return.
the panang curry salmon is very good and so is the kung pao shrimp, sizes are modest, its a good value with groupon but maybe not without groupon, its yummy tho
The food here wasn't great, there were a few options but the menu wasn't clear. Nowhere did it mention the meals came with rice so we ordered extra and had loads in the end. The staff had trouble understanding what we wanted, possibly due to our accents and we were quite glad to be out in the end!
Asian Spice is a well-located mixed Asian cuisine establishment with outside seating that offers an opportunity to have dishes not easily available at other locations. The summer rolls were a bit bland, and with sauce that didn't quite match. The papaya salad was decent. The entrees were quite good, including the Mee Goreng and the green curry. Worth a return but expect some inconsistency with flavors compared to the real thing. Service friendly.
Unfortunately the ac was not working as it usually does but the staff was gracious and the food was very good.
Food and service was very average The chicken meat was a little tough. We shared around six dishes but nothing was Wow
Had wanted to try Asian Spice, and most other nearby places had no availability at 7:00 on a Sunday evening. We were the only customers in the main dining room. A few folks in bar. They did not have the sea bass that my wife wanted. Said they were changing the menu. Miso soup was warm, not hot. Dumplings were okay, but probably frozen. My duck was tasty. My wife's chicken satay was rubbery, and the peanut sauce was extremely sweet. Waiter forgot that I had ordered a glass of wine. Other than the duck, a disappointment. But it sure was quiet.
Food was pretty gross all around (apps and entree). My friend ordered something that had good reviews on Yelp, that dish wasn't bad...it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. Service was quick and good which made up for the pretty bad food. Would not recommend.
Our daughter ordered some sushi and said it was good but not the best she had had. Our fried rice was excellent as was the dish we ordered. Service was great and quick!
Always top notch. California rolls were perfect. Cashew chicken was great. So much of it that I took a lot home with me. Excellent service.
The food is OK, nothing spectacular but not disappointing. A little over priced but nothing outrageous. Wouldn't reject going back but would not choose to do it as a first option
The entrees were outstanding and delivered very quickly after the order was placed. However, the customer service was abominable. Drinks were not refreshed timely and the final bill was not accurate requiring additional time for it be to adjusted.
Service was excellent but I was disappointed in the taste of the food.
Tried Asian Spice for the first time and ordered several appetizers from the menu including sushi and egg rolls. All very good. The Penang Curry dish was the best I have had; spicy, nice consistency and very tasty. The staff was great, and the bar was quiet and appealing; great place to meet friends after work or co-workers go to just unwind. I will definitely go back.
Excellent restaurant! Food ranged from Korean to Chinese to other types of Asian. Waiter was fantastic and attentive. Highly recommend if you want non-typical Asian food or if you can't decide what type you want. This ranks close to Big Bowl in Reston, VA for variety of fusion cuisine.
We chose a selection of appetizers as everything on the menu looked appealing. I particularly enjoyed the duck rolls, but the spring rolls, chicken and lamb were excellent, too. It was near the top of our price range, as each appetizer cost nearly as much as an entree and the wine list has no great bargains. Because of the quality of the food, it was worth it.
The next time I come, I will skip the soup and salad (they were fine, but not as good as the appetizers.) The dessert menu didn't offer anything special, but we split a rice pudding. Again, it was just fine but we could have done without it.
It was the first day for our server and he was closely supervised. He was nervous but did everything well. He was present when we wanted him, but did not interfere with our conversation.
The delicious food and friendly bartender.
Ok if you like noisy places. Music was playing upstairs and different music very loud playing downstairs. Hard to think when two different loud music streams playing at once. I asked if they could turn off music upstairs. They did for 5 minutes then went back and turned it back on. Had a headache entire dinner. But if loud clutter and clamor doesn't bother you then you will be ok....
When I first walked in with my family I did not see the hostess desk so I walked up to the sushi bar to ask if they had one. While I asked, the hostess replied so I waited to be seated. I think it's awesome they take reservations. The place is great, you don't expect much from the outside but the food was delicious and the service was prompt. I would definitely recommend this place and I will be coming back soon.
My guest and I had lunch recently at Asian Spice. We both had the salmon bento box and asked for our salmon to be cooked as rare as chef would do. Box came but salmon cooked to well done. Manager did give us a break on our bill after asking us how things were. Miso soup was very good and salad in bento box was good, although I prefer a ginger dressing. Nice place on edge of Chinatown area.
Unfortunately -- because the location is very convenient to my work -- the food was mediocre and overpriced. I have taken this off my list of potential business lunch spots.
Honey roasted duck was pretty good. Hand rolled salmon sushi was nice and fresh. Good wine, good service. Heart of Chinatown.
Went for dinner before the Wizards game. Service was superb. Drinks and food arrived much faster than expected. Even got to watch some March Madness while we enjoyed the food. Everything was great.
We have dined here several times. The food is good, the location great and the staff very pleasant. They have an interesting variety on the menu and the food is well prepared. I will definitely return.
Enjoyed all foods that we had from sushi to Thai to Chinese. Good beer list. Great mango sticky rice.
