Resturant weekmeal was poor at best!!
Very disappointing vs last visit!!
The service was very good. The appetizer and dessert were good but neither myself or my friends were too happy with the entrees. Food was definitely not what I remembered it to be.
They closed earlier than their website said they close because they weren't busy enough, and they didnt serve us. I'm sure the food is good, but management was pretty rude when telling us this news, so I'm definitely not going back.
Went for restaurant week and the tuna tartare was amazing. absolutely amazing. so was the short rib. the flavors worked extremely well together.
the waiter was overwhelmed and seemed to be confused about which table was getting which order/drink. portions were small
Just not the same as the old location. Good mediocre at best. I was so looking forward to this meal. It was a let down.
This restaurant has very unique dishes, but portions are on the small side. I ordered vaca frita, which is my most favorite Cuban dish, and it was delicious. However, it barely came with anything. The menu said it came with carrot puree and plantains? There was barely any of that. My family and I ordered extra sides because we were still hungry. Also, the prices are a little high for what you get. One of their pork dishes is $95. I'm from Miami and have had the best Cuban pork, so I'm not sure why their pork dish is worth $95. So despite all of that, food was very good. The cocktails were also delicious and unique.
AMAZINGGGG! I would come back here anytime! I came for restaurant week but their menu was so diverse i didnt order from the fixed menu. Guys the Chino Latino dish is EVERYTHING! I'm not a big fan of red meat so i was nervous to order this. But it was so flavorful OMGGG! Perfect mix of cuban and asian flavors. Drinks were good too, disclaimer: Happy hour prices only available at the bar. Besides the food, the ambiance was so nice! The decor was absolutely stunning, definitely made an impression as soon as i walked in! I love that they play recent Latino songs but at a decent volume, where you can talk to your friend and still bump to the music. Only slightly negative thing is that waiters take awhile. But maybe they were short-staff that day. Asia de Cuba is definitely on my go-to places in NYC.
Food was too scarce. Small portions. Waiter never informed us mojito with coconut was 17 dollars 😠 And it was nasty did not taste food. Two coconut mojitos 34 dollars. Not priceless. Food wasn't that great.
Excellent food! Exquisitely prepared. Yes it is very expensive, but worth the experience.
Celebrating my father's last day of work... we loved it! A new fave spot
Came here for restaurant week but left disappointed. I ordered the cod as entry and portion was so small, even though there was an $5 extra charge! I had to get pizza after a $70 dinner. $8 Special Mojitos were great.
Food was good, recommend the ceviche.
Haven't been to there new location down on Lafayette street since they closed on 39th street 10-years ago.
The food is as spectacular as it was 10- years ago.
The device was on point .
I had the short ribs which were really tasty when I finished I was looking for more
I had the the tuna tartar in a taco--for an appetizer--it was like having desert
What a wonderful place.
So glad that I rediscovered the new location!!
Can't believe it's been reopened here for over 2.5 years and I never knew
Wonderful service! Very attentive and the food was great. The mojitos were amazing!
Restsurant was pretty quiet for a Saturday night. Manager was very nice as he made his rounds checking on the patrons. Food was very good. Much better & less expensive places to go in NYC & Jersey. If you're expecting the same vibes from the original Asia De Cuba on Madison you'll be surely disappointed.
The food was great, but the service was terrible. There were more staff in the restaurant than diners, and this was a Friday evening @ 8pm! The waiter was gruff, and unaccomadating. Having to ask 2 or 3 times to have our drinks refilled. 5 of the 6 of our party received our food, and they completely forgot 1 meal. So we all sat there for 15 minutes waiting for the final order to be prepared while our food got cold. We won't be back!
Food here was fabulous!!!! Loved the big open room and the tunes they were playing.
Very attentive service.
Enjoyed the food and the service , max our waiter was very attentive.
My only disappointment was that they did not have the ingredients, at the bar, for Bloody Mary's.
I had been to the location on Madison Ave years ago. I was very disappointed in the quality and menu choices. I got the snapper special quite a big fish not tasty at all. I was very disappointed in the drinks. Monitor was watered down.
Overall very disappointed in the good and drinks. The service and ambiance was great. Our waiter Sergio was great. Not sure I would come back.
This place was outstanding! The service was impeccable and the ambiance was beautiful. Amazing food & cocktails. Max was our server and he was absolutely awesome...funny too! Must come back soon!
So glad I was able to stop in. The scallops were divine and the staff were extremely hospitable!
Food was OK but nothing special.
A little dead. Food was a little boring. Perhaps it needs a little flair ie live music. Service was poor. Server not able to give proper drink and passed off another drink as the one we ordered. Wouldn't go back.
Food was so good. Everything we ordered was so tasty, we are definitely coming back. Great service.
What a wonderful surprise! We loved our dining experience so much! We had the four-course tasting menu and it was superb in every way. The selections were fabulous; we ordered all the items available so we'd be able to enjoy all the selections. We couldn't even pick our favorites since each course exceeded the prior but we loved them all! Thank you so very much for a marvelous meal and dining experience. The service staff is exceptional too - always caring for every little detail and being so attentive. The server that brought each course was so professional and wonderful too. We'll return for sure -- and highly recommend this experience!
I am giving two stars for the busboys and host only. Everything g else was lack luster or just bad. It's a very rainy night in NYC and we came in to a less then half full restaurant; probably closer to a quarter filled. We were seated next to the only other table except the one booth that had another couple in it. I asked if we could sit in a booth and was told by the waiter in white that the booths were reserved for larger party's. Ok I guess they have a lot of reservations. They didn't. The 3 out of 8 booths were all seated with couples, as in two people, just like us while the other 5 sat vacant till we left. Our waiter couldn't stop asking if we wanted drinks, even before water and then we waited for them almost. 20 minutes.
The food was as lackluster as the service. Salty, over cooked. Again the busboys and the host were nice
Amazing restaurant! Everything was great you must come here and enjoy their creative and delicious cousine
The food was delicious...very creative and plentiful. Presentation was spectacular- we will of there again!
Shocking this is the same Asia de Cuba from the 90s at the Morgan's hotel...awful all around
We had not been to Asia de Cuba in years-definitely not since they had moved. We had a tasting menu and had some very good dishes. Both the crispy calamari and the roasted duck salad dishes were very good with good balanced flavors. The shrimp churros are a fun idea but I think the best thing about the dish was the dipping sauce. The churros them selves were too doughy and left me wanting more of the shrimp filling. The casabe cakes were very good. The barbequed pork on them was very moist and flavorful. The cake itself was supple. Probably the most successful dish we had all night was the chili rubbed scallop dish with black rice and cauliflower. This is a not to miss dish for sure. The fired rice dish was good but it needed the creaminess of a fried or poached egg on it. The black cod entree dish was another not to miss dish. Fish was cooked perfectly and the puree was a fantastic pairing. The short ribs were also worth trying. All in all a great. Would be great to go as a group and try many things.
We had a tasting menu. The food was tasty but the portions were definitely on the small size, with the main fish course actually being minuscule. The restaurant is beautiful and trendy but I would not consider it a good value.
Nice quiet Restaurant. Great Good. Very Lowkey Spot. Great For A Date.
We were 4 and had the tasting menu for dinner. It was simply fabulous! I also had 2 mojitos that were sensational. The decor is wonderful..it combines NYC cool with Cuban authenticity and flare. Unlike many NYC restaurants where the space is over crowded
with tables and chairs, the design aesthetic is spacious. The staff is friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
We were so excited to go to the new location but it's nothing near what It used to be when it was in the Morgan Hotel. Really average and disappointing. The food was very disappointing lack of flavor, nothing special, I would not recommend this place to anyone. We used to go to the old one and order bottles all night long and have the best time, sometimes we didn't even make it to the club or next event because we were having so much fun, this new place not so much. Nah. Won't come back!
Asia de Cuba is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in NYC! The decor is elegant and modern and the fusion of Asian and Spanish cuisine's is really incredible.
My husband and I needed a convenient but grown-up place to eat before theatre (downtown). Asia de Cuba was very close by, and had a good reputation from years ago. However, I was admittedly concerned by more recent lukewarm and even negative comments.
I'm happy to report that we had a very good experience there last night. The staff was friendly and attentive (although perhaps a little 'fast' - maybe because they're used to diners headed to one of the shows at the Public Theatre and they pride themselves on getting folks out the door and into the show on time). The decor is, indeed minimal and without wall art. However, the color of the wallcovering (celadon) and the fresh greenery made it modern and serene in a slightly Asian way which we appreciated. And our food was very tasty.
The appetizers or small bites that we ordered were both flavorful, and in portions large enough to share without feeling you'd been skimped on. And they arrived very quickly.
Mains were also very good (my husband had a steak and I had scallops), and with the accompanying black rice (forbidden rice?) and cauliflower accompaniment it was more than I could manage after the appetizer.
While we didn't have any alcohol, our waiter was as attentive with our sparkling water as I assume he would have been if it had been a bottle of nice wine.
Dinner at Asia de Cuba was the perfect beginning to our evening out.
Great attentive service, good food & atmosphere, and a bit high decibels!
Justin our waiter was great. Although i wasn't crazy about my meal. My cousin's meal was excellent
I chose this restaurant like a sister's one of the late China Grill. It was not an experience that we expected. It's not a fusion cuisine like it is told. Yes, the courses are pretty creative and fresh but I'd call it modern American.
The service was not the best one either. When seated we've found some pieces of broken glass on the table. Before the dessert, they didn't clean the table either and never gave any compliment or something for this mess.
