Asia Bay Sushi Bar & Thai Ratings and Reviews
Everything was incredible, I went there for a first date and our waitress Heidi was incredible!!! She really made our experience perfect and gave us the best advice on our food and wine choices. She made the night incredible. The food was spot on and the wine she suggested was amazing
This is a very good restaurant But we all three people would have liked to finish their starters before the main course arrived and the check after we had finished the main course.
this was a business meeting that needed a little air space around the eating.
Otherwise Good food Good menu .
Waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and how it was prepared. He gave us great options for our meal and was prompt with the appetizer and drinks. The food was normal sushi and I enjoyed it, but there wasn’t any side dishes with it which left me craving more food. The food was good though and the service was excellent.
We were at Asia Bay twice in the last week. The first night was super! The food, service etc. The second night they had a problem in the kitchen which delayed the delivery of food to most of the tables. We were fine as we knew the quality of the food we were waiting to eat. But there were many unhappy tables because of the long wait time. They need better planning on a holiday weekend (labor day) and this should have been anticipated by the manager. The wait staff is great as well as the food.
We sat out on the patio with a view of the intracoastal, which was gorgeous. Alfred was our waiter and was so entertaining that we kept saying that he was worth the visit alone (and no, he never asked us to mention him in any review; he's just THAT good!) We were seated promptly by who seemed like the manager, a very friendly and professional man. For dinner, we ordered a sushi roll that was massive, and the seafood Pad Thai special. All food was excellent!! Can't wait to return. Thank you!
The fresh sushi was amazing, our server Nemo was very courteous and affable, accomodating my request to move to an indoor table when it became a bit chilly.
The fish is (and tastes) same-day fresh, the menu is extensive but not overwhelming and there was a casual ambiance that lent it a certain charm
My overall impression of Asia Bay is rather mixed. We had a nice table on the patio, by the edge overlooking the canal. I had wanted to try this restaurant for some time, partially due to this location on the water in downtown Fort Lauderdale/Las Olas. I was pleased with the table and location.
The service was very problematic throughout the meal, and would be the main reason I would hesitate to go back. Even though the manager or host dropped by a couple of times and asked how things were going (and I told him they were not going well), nothing improved. I won't go into all the details, but the treatment from the waiter was extremely odd and ultimately aggravating.
The food was good, though nothing exciting. We both ordered the special Pad Thai of the day (with seafood). It was good, but a bit pricey for what we got, really.
So--if I were ever to go back, I would make sure to get a different waiter, and would try other options apart from the Pad Thai (just to see what the rest of the menu is like--not because the Pad Thai was a problem).
We reserved seats for Saturday at 9pm, but were not seated until 930pm. Once seated, we were not served until 15 min later. Needless to say, it was extremely busy. We did not eat until 10pm, an hour later than our reserved time. The waiter was nice, but the communication from other staff (host) about expected waiting times was not good, which makes the experience of waiting even worse. The massaman curry with tofu was very delicious, as was the lobster roll. We would not come back unless it was guaranteed that we would be seated on time.
One of our favorite restaurants in the city, however, we were left a little cold on our visit this past weekend. When we sat down, the hostess told us that our experience wouldn't be up to their normal standard. Huge red flag and it started our dining experience off on the wrong foot. Then our server finally came, very tall, thin, guy. No joke, he was the worst server we've ever had in any restaurant. While the food was delicious, the server ruined our overall experience. Not sure if there has been a change in management but the evening was chaotic and seemed as if leadership was lacking. First time we've ever had a bad experience there, hope you can get it together or you will lose two guests that love the place, too many other restaurants to waste time with bad service.
