My buddy and I went here after reading it was midtown’s #1 sports bar online. We came for the Bruins-Leafs game which was put on 3 TVs (that I saw from our table). We asked to get the sound and were told that the sound only goes on for the Yankee game from the bartender. I’m sorry, but a playoff game that at least 7 patrons (including two Leafs fans in gear) are there for when nobody is into the Yankee game is lame. It’s a sports bar and you’d rather have Fly Like An Eagle playing? Come on.
Also the food was just ok. There are too many menus (we weren’t given the bar menu which didn’t have those items on any other menu we were given) and only the filet sliders we got were decent. The pizza was limp and the cheese slid off. The chicken pot pie had a square piece of crust that didn’t cover the dish like 99% of chicken pot pies. And the chicken looked too processed in its cube form.
The one area that this place excelled was the service. We got our drinks quickly and we were always asked if we needed anything. Very prompt and friendly service.
A gathering with long-time friends, we had such an enjoyable evening on 4/15/19. Staff are warm & friendly - thank you Sully, Connie & Tanya. Food is delicious. They have the BEST music adding to the delightful ambiance. My heart is heavy, thinking this awesome local place will be no more. Best wishes to Patrick & his fantabulous crew. Thank you. Perfect place for a lunch business meeting. Plenty of room to spread out.
It was great- not crowded at all, so I could pick what sports game to watch. Brunch is awesome and they are flexible with what you order,
Was a very fun , enjoyable Super Bowl Sunday. Gonna miss this place when it shuts its doors due to unnecessary condos being built
We were a group of five ladies in to watch a playoff football game. We had a table placed right in front a a huge TV.... and our team won. We enjoyed food and drinks all night. Our server was fabulous, an Irish but I have forgotten her name. Great time had by all! We will be back!
Worst service from Bartender our party of 4 has ever had. Food was fair but she acted like we were bothering her...she was on her phone most of the time and this was a sports playoff day in a sports bar. Had to go into dining room to ask for salt n pepper, even napkins. First time we ever left less than 20% tip. Never again.
First meeting with contacts at a major corporation and the evening went without a hitch. Great people and great location. Looking forward to going back
I was visiting New York, was staying at a hotel up the street, and needed to find a late-night bite. This was the perfect spot. I had one of their burgers and it blew me away. Great service and wonderful atmosphere. Definitely coming back here!
Great spot but on the noisy side, even on a quiet Tuesday. Around 10 pm the lights dimmed and the volume of the music kicked up perceptibly.
Booked but when we arrived we were told the restaurant had closed but we could eat at bar - noise level there from the TVs was above the pain threshold.. we went elsewhere
Enjoyable neighborhood sports bar w/ many large screen TVs.. Great menu!! Responsive 2 guest requests re: game selection..
Everything was great except the table of 18 drunk young adults banging on tables and falling all over the place....
Mimosas could have been refilled faster.
Despite being 9/11 what a good time. Goodcfood & Alessia makes the best Cosmo's ever!
Waitress was amazing....reservation request for watching US Open on a tv close to our table was quickly accommodated when we arrived. A great evening of pre dinner drinks.
Very much a sports bar feel with a restaurant attached. The food was fine enough but definitely not memorable. Would definitely go back for a couple beers, bar food, and a yankee game. As a sit-down dinner area there are much better options in the area.
I frequently stay at nearby hotels when I am in NYC. If I am not having a meal with a client, I like to go here because it is handy, the meals are simple , and it is a relatively quick meal. Also, one is not uncomfortable being a single person. There are numerous televisions showing sporting events, but but there is no audio or on screen text which is a bit disconcerting.
Great service, food and ambiance . I will definitely return and recommend to friends and colleagues.
Reliably good food and service. Good for a business lunch.
Food was excellent and service was quick. A little loud if you wanted table.conversation but otherwise a solid experience
Bartender wasn't very attentive and interested but the burger was great.
Great for watching the game. Service was a bit slow.
My sister was visiting and I took her there for dinner. She loved the place and the food. We were able to talk while watching a Yankees game and Stanley Cup game on the big screens. I eat there quite often. It’s one of my favorites.
Great place to watch NBA finals! Excellent service and good food. Lots of fun and would definitely go back.
Decent place for bar food in the area
Great casual bar to catch a game or have a leisurely lunch. Food is great. Service wonderful. Prices reasonable.
We watched March Madness Final 4 games. It was a great atmosphere, good food and a lively environment. You’ll be satisfied.
I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but brunch at Ashton’s Alley was a disappointing experience.
Firstly, the brunch special was advertised as $26.95 for entree & unlimited drinks both on the restaurant’s website, as well as Yelp / other sources. Upon arriving we were told that the promotion was old & now it was $15 for drinks plus an entree ($20 for buffalo chicken salad!) I tried to argue but to no avail.
Second, after agreeing to the bottomless drink option, I was incredibly disappointed to discover that the mimosas were 90% OJ — I told the waiter it was too much OJ & too little champagne, but instead of bringing me a new drink he brought over the bottle of champagne & poured literally 2 drops of champagne into the top of my glass (I had only taken a sip). While he did make an effort to keep our glasses full following this encounter, I just found it bizarre & poor customer service — especially being that we were 1 of 3 tables in the entire place.
Finally, the maître’d had a serious attitude. Unfriendly an unapproachable. Was visibly annoyed when I asked to sit at a booth instead of table (despite there being no one in the restaurant). Overall I was super frustrated with this experience. It’s a shame Bc I previously attended a happy hour here and had a great experience. Hopefully brunch will improve.
All in all was it not too bad. Food was ok, beer and wine were ok. But just ok. Nothing special or very good about it.
When we arrived in the pouring rain
For Super Bowl...we were told that although We had a confirmed reservation.. they could not honor it because they were full..and had notified Open Table the day before to not take further reservations..they had to turn a lot of people away with Open table reservations... fortunately for us there was a no show, and we got a table
Staff was very pleasant. Did not need a reservation for New Year's Eve as this is a sports bar there were lots of tv's to watch games. I would eat here again.
Sat at bar area and watched the game. Great food and beer.
Good food and atmosphere. Sat at the bar for a late lunch and it was perfect. Nice selection and super friendly bartender.
The burger was gross. I don’t know how you can screw up a burger but they did.
Thanksgiving dinner for our family from Illinois 😊
Don’t know how this place got such high reviews. The food sucked and this place was dead. Very expensive for garbage. Don’t go.
Waitress was on of the best I've had. Food is always good and a step above regular bar food!
