Lamb Rogan Josh
Food left standing on side while waiters ignored it. Several dishes cold. Perfunctory "cleaning" of table between and after courses. Food expensive but very tasty. Service terrible. Automatic "service charge" to cap it. Manager's "sorry" was pathetic.
An amazing evening. Started with a beautiful Manchester Tart cocktail which came with a miniature tart. The food was outstanding, the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. What a superb dining experience.
This is the second time I have been to Asha's in Manchester, and would go again. The service is attentive, and the waiting staff will offer guidance on what to offer. I had the King Prawns (from the Tandoori and Kebab menu), and they were massive, and delicious. I also had the aubergine dish (can't remember the name Hare Banghan...?) and it was better than the prawns!! Delicious. However the order of Biryani rice was very dry, and I needed to order some yoghurt to go with it. Not sure that it was freshly cooked.
We had a booking for a 6 course tasting menu but were disappointed. Some of the courses were very good, but others were very average. Same with the service, i.e. some waiters were very good, but some were poor leading to dirty cutlery being put back on the table and a soup spoon being given with cheesecake. Overall, neither the food nor the service represented good value for money.
This may be a good place for a casual quick lunch, but not for a special occasion.
Interesting and tasty Indian cuisine with lunch time special particularly excellent value
Very good however over priced
Lovely and friendly staff.
Food presentation is excellent loved it!
Sadly it was a bit of a disappointment. It may be that we ordered badly and that we should have combined dishes differently, but the following could have have been better:
- the biriani was rather dry
- the vegetable samoso was also dry and the filling could have had more taste
But, while the vindaloo could have been more spicy, it was very tasty. Delicious in fact. The Dal Makhni was also very nice.
I didn't enjoy the draft Cobra, but the San Miguel was great.
Terrible food, everything over spiced that was definitely no Kari ghost, would not recommend this restaurant to anyone
Best Indian we have ever eaten. Superb quality and really nice helpful staff..
We haven’t been to Asha’s for a while but was excited to take return and take my mother.I had spoken highly of it beforehand. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon....the service was spot on, not too intrusive but attentive...the food was delicious, there was a nice selection of ambient music playing and the restaurant/toilets were spotless. The waiting staff were friendly and with a sense of humour. Helpful & knowledgeable about the menu.
We would not hesitate to return or recommend to others.
Nice place and good service just so horrendously overpriced. The food was fine but nothing special. Certainly not the £18 we paid for a main dish of lamb Rogan Josh!!!! If it’s given me that dish next to a takeaway I would not be able to tell the difference. Sorry. Absolute rip off.
The website for this place does a great job in so much as it makes it look a whole lot better than it actually is.
The food was decidedly average, nothing better than the Indian we regularly visit.
The actual place itself was really cold! I know it’s winter but I had goosebumps all over my arms! I almost put my coat back on.
Food and service were fine. Food took a bit of time to come but that was fine with us as we like to enjoy a bottle of wine and take our time. The food was good but not outstanding. £17.50 for a butter chicken was quite expensive to say it wasn’t really any better from a very good takeaway near home.
We had a nice meal but the whole place lacked atmosphere, I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but it was lacking in ‘vibe’.
Starters were exceptional. Main was a bit slow too arrive and not as good. Very noisy group spoilt the atmosphere a bit.
Would try again. Definitely recommend the prawns and lamb leg.
Expecting the lobster but let down with a set menu but overall was ok
I booked this restaurant for my husband for valentine’s evening ... when we arrived it was very bright .. no ambience to say it was valentine’s night.... we asked if we could order off the normal menu as it wasn’t very busy & they said no even though later in the evening the table next to us did!!!..... there shouldn’t be one rule for one & one for another .....
The service was good and the waiter was very nice; everything else was a disappointment. My boyfriend and I had booked to come to Asha’s for Valentines night and were hoping to order from the usual menu rather than the Valentine’s menu however this was not the case. The Valentines menu was £45 each which included a starter each, two curries with a shared naan and a shared rice, and finally a very small shared desert- not worth £45 each at all. The food was nothing special and did not come close to our local curry house (Shimla Spice Keighley) which is much better value for money and much better tasting food.
We would not return to Asha’s as we believe we can get a much better curry elsewhere for a fraction of the price. A very small cocktail was £10 and the Cobra was £5.50 for a pint! A service charge of £11 was also added on top of the price. We spent £120 in total which is just ridiculous for the food we received.
Provided with a set menu without knowing during booking for valentines day.
Unfortunately non of the dishes were what we were expecting.
Plenty of other options for asian food without the hefty price tag to go with it but still get the same flavours and better
It was our second visit to ashas and once again was amazing. Thank you
Nice ambiance. Expensive and the food does not live up to the price. It is far from poor, however the eloquence is simply lacking
Really nice food. Plenty of choice and some unusual but very nice options. Really tasty but at £20 for a main course and £10 for a starter and £5 for some of the naans, £100 for a meal for 2 is expensive
First visit and AMAZING!! They even brought out birthday cake without being asked. First class service and food and we will be back :)
Excellent service, and the quality of the food was awesome
Highly Recommended, will defiantly return
Mediocre food at best and abismal service. I was absolutely disappointed after looking forward to Asha’s for so long, it was a disaster to say the least, rushed service, water confused with our main course and generally not what I would expect off such a international brand name.
Customer service was very poor, at no point throughout the meal were we asked if the food was ok or if we wanted another drink, at the end of the meal when the bill was brought, I paid in cash minus the service charge, when the waiter came back I Said I’ve left the money for the meal but not the service charge the response was ‘oh well I’ll have to go and ask the manager if it’s ok’ after waiting 10 minutes for him to return we left. Certainly so t be returning.
New dishes on the menu. Excellent food as always. Service impeccable. Love this restaurant
Food served was a little bit cold but okay.Indian food should really be served hot. Lacked the passionate service we had when we first visited the premises.
Went there with my son and the service was incredibly friendly. The restaurant is very nce and the food very good. Would defenetely reccomend it.
Always a great experience, lovely staff and excellent food. Menu is varied and plentiful. This is our go to restaurant in Manchester for any special occasion.
Emporers platter was sumptuous and the Prawn biryani cooked to perfection. Prawns cooked excellently. Would highly recommend and would definitely visit again.
Enjoyed a very good meal at Ashas with my girlfriend on Saturday night. The restaurant provides an excellent setting and a high quality & interesting menu. The staff were friendly and provided excellent table service.
As someone who dines out regularly in Manchester I can appreciate that Ashas provides a standard of dining of a higher quality than many of its contemporaries, however I would say the menu prices are high enough alone to not constitute a need to ask for a service charge & to enable you to provide free water for the table.
Overall my first experience of Ashas was very positive and I would certainly recommend the restaurant to others.
What a strange looking place from the street side and an empty bar below but... the food and the service was superb. Also really helpful allergens menu. Thank you!
Opentable advertises pre theatre deal as running from 12pm - 7pm on Friday and Saturdays. I booked a table for 6pm, and only when I began to order was then told the pre theatre deal finished at 5pm.
Please sort this out, as I ended up paying much more than I had budgeted for a meal.
Poor value not brilliant just average which was a shame
A bit pricey for an Indian meal but the food and service were exceptional so you get what you pay for.
Food is really nice and really gives me a surprise!
Fabulous as always. New menu, lots of choice. Cocktails to die for
The food was extremely disappointing. The prawns were so hard it felt like they had been cooked yesterday and the food lacked spice and taste which you wouldn’t expect for a Indian restaurant.
