Great service to begin with. Very very nice server. We went early 7:30 and he just got buried as it got busy
I love this place, but it's very loud, even by PR standards, and the valet parking is good but VERY slow at times. The food is excellent and the bartenders are fabulous!
Food was excellent and service as well I definitely recommend this place also amazing drinks
Great. Excellent location.
Excellent food and wonderful service. We always get the Vaca fritas, rice, and black beans.
Great food and vibe. We will be back again.
Charming restaurant, excellent service, amazing cocktails, good Cuban Food.
Vacation with my family.
Really good food. We had a tropical ceviche and empanadillas for appetizers and both were excellent. My wife had a whole red snapper which was superb. I had ropa viejas which was tasty but a bit salty for my taste.
Our server was friendly and provided good service
Great option if you're in la placita or interested in checking out the area. Beware that sitting outside can be LOUD, I was sad that the upstairs patio was closed for an event so we were seated in front of the restaurant on the street, on top of the action (and noise) of la placita. I was with older family members and we regretted our decision to sit outside. Food is good, drinks are better. We loved the coconut flan and flavored mojitos. Happy that they were open on a Sunday.
One of the best restaurants we've been to in a long time. The food is outstanding and the service is wonderfully friendly.
A friend of mine was visiting from St. Louis. We went on Saturday night and loved it so much that we went back on Sunday night. Get an outside table and enjoy the nightlife and noise of La Placita while enjoying fabulous food and friendly staff. The bean dip with Taro chips, Pork tacos and Empanadilla de carne all rock. So good - we forgot to take photos.
Only thing I was bummed about is that the rooftop deck wasn't open mid week. Food and service were amazing.
Asere has a great ambiance. It’s a good place to go out to have drinks and appetizers but I would not recommend it for a big group. We went on a Saturday night with a reservation. It was really busy. We had a reservation for 8:30pm for a group of 10. We were running late due to traffic and spoke with the hostess at 8:33pm to say we were still enroute. (Note if you’re going on Saturday La Placita gets packed with people/cars, so come early!). We got there at 8:40 and though they didn’t admit it, they gave our table away by mistake to another group of 10. We didn’t sit down until 10pm. They did apologize many times and even gave us complimentary drinks. The staff was very friendly even in this situation and we were always approached with smiles. The food was okay and took a while for it to come to the table. I ordered the vaca frita and congri. The vaca frita had good flavor but was doused in oil and the congri was hard. I’m part of a Cuban family so my expectations were higher.
Waiting staff was excellent, food was of high quality and quantity, and the atmosphere was just what we needed to start our night in La Placita.
Awesome Spot in La Placita! Highly Recommend!
What a fun & energetic restaurant. They had a birthday party and a bachelorette going on. So, it was a great vibe.
Service was attentive and friendly. They kept checking in on us and refilling waters.
Food was good as well. We got the baked empanadas, they were yummy and glad that they weren’t fried.
All of our entrees were tasty homestyle meals.
Mojito was refreshingly good as well.
Overall, a great place to go if you’re in party mode.
The food at ASERE is delicious. We brought a family of 4 to join us and we were all happy with our choices. The highlights were the empanadas, the tuna tacos, the pork leg and red snapper. The service is excellent and you get the flavor of PR while dining at The Placita.
We had our anniversary dinner here while we were vacationing in Puerto Rico. Ionex was one of the best waiters we’ve ever had. You must have the Cubano spring rolls and the ginger Mojito’s delicioso we will be back 💕
Outstanding. Smallish menu but every dish was absolutely delicious. Wine list was inexpensive and had good variety. Space was cozy and lovely.
We have eaten at Asere before and always love it. The 4 dishes we had were all great. Pork chop with mashed potatoes, pork leg, roast chicken with chayote and rice and beans and chicken stuffed with sweet plantains. Service was good and a fun time was had by all.
Overall amazing experience. Food was delicious and service was outstanding despite the restaurant being so busy. Would recommend and return. I had the half chicken. Amazing!
Appetizers were delicious with the pescado chicharones which were really good. Don’t leave the island without tasting this little gem!
We came here for my 30th birthday dinner, and sat outdoors. Restaurant sits right in the middle of the music and dancing of the placita. Excellent service, great food and impossible to get a greater feel of the local nightlife.
The service was great. We had wonderful wait staff who made great suggestions. The ceviche was very good. The main courses were ok. The octopus was a little on the chewy side and the pork belly was dry. The chicken with gnocchi was excellent. The cocktails were very good. All and all, I would highly recommend Asere.
Great evening with a group of friends. Drinks kept coming quickly, service was good and we ended up eating several appetizers, which were all amazing, one of which was a plantain cup with beef. We ordered several. I will definitely return soon.
Perhaps i visited Asere with my hopes too high. This place came highly recommended so i was quite excited. The tacos fell apart as i picked them up, the fried cubanitos were greasy, and the pan fried steak had the texture of styrofoam. I hate to be so harsh, and i rarely am. But i was so disappointed in their food. I honestly wonder if it was an off night or if this is just something the locals have become accustomed to. I will say, the drinks were absolutely amazing, but i wish our waiter gave us a little more attention so we could have gotten them on time.
Great food served by a cheerful waiter in a great atmosphere. Three of us each ordered a different appetizer and main course and each of us was delighted. Coconut flan was excellent!
This restaurant is in the middle of La Placita de Santurce. The food is good and market square is interesting. We ate outside and enjoyed it. This is a happening spot with considerable night life. If you are looking for a quiet spot, this probably is not your place. There is a speak easy upstairs that was a bit quieter in the evening. It might get quite lively later in the night, but we had to leave early the next day and did not stay past 9:30 or so.
Appetizers arrived with main plates, really hard to get a hold of a server at times, we split the bill but they couldn’t provide receipts for each transaction. I can only recommend Asere if you’re sitting at the bar and having only cocktails and tapas.
Visiting Puerto Rico with extended family from NY. Wanted to eat in santurce. 11 of us so knew we need rez and chose Asere. Staff was wonderful, food was great, we had a lovely evening. Don’t miss the gin cocktail made with cucumber, the ceviche appetizer, or the roast chicken!
Very nice waiter, gf options, great cocktails and food. We were upstairs in a small side room, and despite drapes there was a bright glare from a large advertisement light outside, thus the 4 vs. 5 stars for ambiance.
The service was warm and wonderful. Food was fantastic. Atmosphere was charming and unique. Loved it.
Fun experience. Energetic part of puerto rico. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Food was pretty good. Empanadas were very good. Mojitos great too. Sat outside. Noisy and lively but fun. Would recommend a visit.
This restaurant was excellent....perfectly executed authentic Cuban/PR food. It deserves much more hype compared to the inundating raves about Jose Enrique’s (underwhelming). It was hard to choose from the menu with so many delicious choices. We got the Cuban spring rolls which were perfect little bits to start the dinner. I got the ropa vieja and my husband got the vaca frita. Both portioned extremely well we wish we had a fridge to take home our leftovers. The wine and cocktail list were exquisite and reasonably priced. They had a plethora of after dinner cordials which was much appreciated. Our waiter was awesome and very knowledgeable about the menu. I would highly recommend this restaurant as I am still dreaming of my ropa vieja.
The food has great potential but the drop the ball in every respect. I had the hole fried fish and the presentation was good, but it was cold and not uniformly seasoned. The tostones were not crispy.
Loved this spot. The vibe starts as you approach—you’re on the Placita, full of energy and excitement. Food is authentic Caribbean. Speak Spanish (even if broken) or English. Everyone is attentive and wants to make sure you enjoy your meal. The room got crowded, but we never felt rushed. Everything was terrific. It’s a must-try if you’re in San Juan.
Loved It, would definitely recommend- great, fresh food and nice authentic atmosphere.
Great food.. prepare for slow service.. typical for this region of the states.. it's ok, we realize this going into it.
