Asador was a lovely surprise. Hosted a business dinner with a number business colleagues including a couple of foodies. Menu was stocked with attractive options with a notable farm to fire flavor. Started with an excellent cheese and charcuterie board and moved on to entrees including a tomahawk pork chop, several steaks, and an outstanding roast chicken breast. Several bottles of a pleasant Tempranillo later, we sampled multiple dessert all of which were delicious. Our server was attentive and engaged. Overall a great meal in an unexpected spot.
If you are looking for a place that knows the precise source of each ingredient, Asador will delight you. I was given the task of finding a quiet restaurant in downtown Dallas where five relatively unfamiliar business associates could each find something to eat at 5:30 on a Friday night. We wanted to eat at 7:00 and get back to our conference hotel by 9:30. Asador was the only restaurant that showed availability, and I was a little worried that it wasn't booked as well. It is located in the Renaissance Hotel, which sits on a major Highway and so it doesn't get foot traffic except those staying in the Hotel. It was much, much better than the restaurants at our conference hotel that will remain nameless.
I had a beautiful pork chop with a tasty blueberry compote, two others had marvelous burgers topped with a fried egg and the gentlemen to my right had a perfectly done steak while the gentleman to my left consumed a different locally raised slab of meat, which he enjoyed thoroughly leaving a clean plate.
A couple things on their menu were not available, because the ingredients could not be procured, which is a testament to their standards. They wouldn't accept available substitutes of lesser quality.
Everyone had desserts, which they enjoyed. I ordered a peach cobbler, which was the perfect size and quite peachy, but it did not have a cobbler topping. It was more of a crisp. A cobbler has a fluffy biscuit topping. A crisp has a sweeter, crumbly topping that may contain oatmeal, flour, butter & spices. This topping was really somewhere between the two. Not bad at all, but not really cobbler.
Asador is one our favorite restaurants. We always enjoy a quiet dinner there whenever we visit Dallas. Asador is famous for its superb recipes and unusual flavor combinations. The wine selection is very good, although the choice of bourbons is extremely limited. The service is always excellent.
Asador is one of the sexier hidden gem fine casual dining places in all of Dallas. Chef Brad Phillips welcomes each diner with excitement and genuine passion about local ranches and farms and providers. He loves to describe the passion of his food sources, and grew up in a sustainable farm. His interesting menu and great staff make a meal a real treat. The bar is fun with a staggering selection of bespoke tequilas and bartenders who know how to creat craft cocktails. This is a restaurant you MUST experience! Fabulosity!
The food was a bit of a let down after reading the description on open table and the whole farm to table descriptions. It was good but just barely an upgrade on Chili's, not as special feeling as The Ranch or Whiskey Cake. We ordered, one pasta and one burger, one iced tea... Total came out $50 and most main courses were $30+. Honestly if the meal had been on the 40s it would have been ok, but 50 + tip ended up feeling overpriced for nothing special. Nothing to see here... Much better hotel restaurants if you want the ambiance. Much better farm to table if you want the food.
Most hotel restaurants are a perfunctory element of the establishment: Asador is capable of standing on its own as an eatery and bar. Top notch food and service. Its a reason for me to pick this hotel over others in the area.
Very strange experience. About 25% full on Friday night at prime time. Much of the good was good but staff was very spotty. Not a cheap meal either. Luckily we had great company that night but honestly I was a little embarrassed that I was the one who picked it. Won't go back.
I been here almost 6 times now . The spicy pei mussels are very delicious . However the only down fall with asadores is 3 times of the six times ive been there is that they dont always have what is listed on menu . The secondtime no mussels where available the 3rd time not braised rabbit available and the last time i went no short rib available even thou ,all this times these items where listed on menu the times i went. I feel if they dont have it they should tell you up front and not 5 mins after youved order it. Btw there margaritas are some of the best ived ever had. Very good food, what i will start doing is looking up the menu online and then calling ahead of time to make sure its available when i visit them .
The only thing I felt lacking was the fact that the bar was a bit slow at getting drinks out to you in a timely matter. The waiter dissappeared at times, but I still would go back as the food was excellent. The only thing I would change is separateing the appetizers and soups/salads on the menu.
Again, what great food and served rather quickly. Was a great night. We will be back.
There was an apparent shortage of wait staff. We had to wait a fair amount between water refills and for the check. The open-faced grilled fish sandwich was outstanding though! We also ordered the chips and salsa side - the salsa was warm and delicious but the chips are very thick and tough to chew.
Booked a stay cation with my wife and another couple for late Valentines weekend, heard great reviews about the restaurant and must say it exceeded our expectations from the drinks to the food and the presentation, our server was John and he was exceptional. Will be returning again soon
I was pleasantly surprised! Although we had to wait 20 minutes past our reserved time to be seated and a few items I wanted they were out of, the food we order was excellent. The mussel's in the sambal broth with cilantro and lemongrass with grilled bread is phenomenal and a must!! We wanted a straw to drink the broth. It's a large portion so you can split it as an appetizer but I recommend it as your entree. The seafood pasta dish was excellent. I was told the burger was a winner too. We will return.
Asador is inside the Renaissance Hotel. While I didn't realize that when I booked it, it worked out well on a cold, wet night - and the validate parking.
The restaurant is lovely. Current, warm, open. Service was very good, as was the food. Try the warm spinach salad with speck, and the brussel sprouts. Terrific!
Me and my wife were looking for someplace to go for dinner on New Years Eve. We wanted something a little nicer than a chain restaurant but I had forgot to make reservations earlier in the week. I checked Open Table but pretty much every place I knew of was booked. I saw there was a table available at Asador and after reading the reviews we figured we'd give it a try. I am glad we did! We pulled up and valet was easy and accessible. The restaurant was right at the front of the hotel so we walked right in and were greeted and seated promptly. The restaurant wasn't full but it wasn't totally empty either. The ambience is elegant, great for a date night or even a nice get together with a group of friends. There is not that many options on the menu but I was in the mood for a steak. I had the skirt steak and my wife had the seafood pasta. Both entree's were exceptional. I also ordered a side of rolls, and those were amazing. The service was great and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely be coming back. I have read the great reviews on their breakfast and would love to try it, I'm sure everything on the menu is delectable!
This hidden gem in this landmark Dallas hotel is catching on with the locales. The Saturday and Sunday breakfast buffet is simply fabulous and fresh. Happy Hour is a bargain with 1/2 price wines, select $5 wine and small plates.
Granted, it's in one of Dallas' convention hot spots and not quite intimate but it is a value, especially with validated parking.
If at breakfast ask for Efraim.
we had been to Asador in the past and had mixed results in both food and service, but we decided to try it one more time. and we won't waste our time again. they were out of the things that might have looked appealing and what they did have was not fresh or very good. the service was somewhat rude and certainly not helpful. we won't be back.
The food was excellent and the server was professional. Overall, entry at the restaurant was poor. One of the few rest. I have eating that has a policy of "no cork fee" allowed without even noticing it was my first time at the rest. and a one time exemption was not made. In an era where a culture of customer service is a must, I believe the Maitre D or Rest Manager did not extent the prof courtesy to make an exemption to my bottle of Amarone De La Valpocella. My first and last time eating at Asador due to a weird first impression.. Best of luck in your endeavor..
This was our first visit, the food was very good, but our poor server was slammed with too many tables and took way to long to bring drinks, the check, etc. Not really his fault and he was apologetic, but it did take away from an otherwise enjoyable evening.
We stopped in for drinks and desert on "date night". Found a nice area to sit. Staff is extremely friendly. Interiors are nice. Being off of the lobby of the hotel brings it a down a notch for an upscale event, but I think it is great for good food in an open area. Great for meeting up with friends. Be patient. The staff is very friendly, but not as prompt as I would prefer for a Dallas restaurant. Nice bottle selection for campaigns.
We were completely charmed by Amador. Initially, we were disappointed that it was located on the main floor of a hotel, but once we were seated, we forgot about that. We had an absolutely outstanding server who was magically always there when we needed her but never lingered. The charcuterie platter was outstanding--we wanted to order another and make that dinner, but we went on to try the steak with the chimichurra sauce, which came with an onion stuffed with potatoes and cheese--we wanted another one of those, too. The specialty cocktails are amazing--I had the Garden Sangria and could have downed a pitcher of that if I handed considered the morning after. We have already recommended this restaurant to many friends.
