The Pine Room brings a restaurant quality feel and experience to the heart of Tacoma’s 6th Avenue District with design work formulated by Seattle’s, Catch Design Studio. The facility features two separate private dining spaces, suitable for the most casual event to a truly sophisticated affair. We returned to Asado after having a stellar first experience. This date? Not so much. Had a reservation. We waited more than 20 minutes to be seated. I know...popular place...unavoidable. It should be noted that one might wait for your pre-reserved table...a problem with new booking system. But that was all easy to overlook.
We ordered. We ate. Then our bill came.
It was off on 50% of the menu choices, okay in fairness, 2 of the 4 items. When I inquired to the hostess, she took it to the manager on duty to which we received this explanation, "I'm sorry. We discovered the mistake on the menu LAST NIGHT and overlooked changing the menu."
Uh, I'm sorry. So, you left a mistake on your menu that resulted in a customer being charged $32 instead of $25 and an entire business day later, at the end of an evening, you're still charging a different price than what's on the menu?
If you don't have a printer, the cost of a sharpy is far less than two customers who were incredibly put off by the dismissive attitude about that item. But that's not all. My wife and I ordered two sets of identical cocktails -- she had a Manhatten; me an Old Fashioned. We were not asked what bourbon to use so assumed the well choice. But when our bill arrived, not only were we overcharged for the $25 entree, but we were charged two different prices for two identical cocktails.
This was not about the finances of it. We just happened to look at the bill and catch the mistake. What it is about, however, is an ambiance of integrity and trust. Questions arose between us like "How many people ordered that dish and were charged incorrectly?" and "How many people didn't look that closely at their bill and it went unnoticed?"
Paired with the manager's indifference, once is too many for us. We won't be back. We won't recommend it. It's a shame because the food is fantastic and most of the wait staff and hostesses were kind, attentive, and unfortunately paid the cost of the manager's poor behavior.
We wanted to try a new (to us) restaurant. The place is small, tables are packed in there, it is rather loud ~ we were ok with that. Had the crab cakes for a starter-these were tasty. I️ had the lamb shank, this dish made me decide to probably not come again. It wasn’t cooked long enough to be a pricey piece of meat/dish. Forgot what my husband had, it had pork, he liked what he ordered. Service was great.
We came on Halloween, a night where I would expect restaurants to be prepared to be busy. We were seated in a great seat - good. However, it took awhile (10 minutes) before we saw the waiter, then it took nearly 30 minutes to get our appetizers, followed by another 45 minutes to get our food. Appetizers were good (shrimp A+) but my steak was tough - not good. My wife's salad was good (A). The waiter's excuse for why it took so long to get our food were the demands of a big table right next to us - not a good excuse for such a good restaurant, which should be prepared for this. This is the 5th time we have eaten here - before things were great, this time was very disappointing!
Loved the valet parking! The service was top notch and food was amazing! The only downfall was the nose level was unbearable! It was incredibly crowded and our table was scrunched in. If it wasn't for the amazing food and service (which is definatly fine dining grade) I probably wouldn't consider this again. I couldn't hear my server let alone my husband sitting straight across from me.
We had a reservation for 7:45 pm. We were forgotten when we stood waiting in the bar area, which is where we were directed to stay. Did not enjoy any beverages at the bar because theu were slammed. Checked in with hostess at 8:15 after witnessing several other diners being seated. Hostess apologized for forgetting us. We then were seated right away. Noise level in the restaurant was super high. Service was terrible. Refills to our beverages, other then water, were never provided. It took an hour for a soda refill after stopping the server to request it. Then the food comes and the puerco relleno, that I have gotten numerous times, was super dry and overcooked. Just an overall terrible experience. We normally opt for dessert but when the time came we were done with the whole experience. As previously stated, we have dined at Asados on numerous occasions and have always had a wonderful time. Great food and service.
Asado has a warmth about it as soon as you're seated. It is loud because the entire layout is very open but that is the only and I mean only slight negative about the restaurant. This is a place to go if you love steak, Argentinian cuisine or refreshing cocktails. Make a reservation when you do visit and plan to spend about 2 hours eating. If you do it the right way you will have drinks, appetizers, main meals and Desert, non of which should be skipped. I give Asado a 9/10 the only slight against them is the noise level, it can be too loud at times but oh well.
It was my birthday. We took good friend/neighbors who had never dined there. 2 of the 4 steaks had to be sent back and the replacements were better but not what we used to get at Asado. Disappointed.
They gave us each free dessert but still disappointment. We were a bit embarrassed as we had raved about the food.
My husband and I happened upon Asado for lunch. He loved the dip sandwich and my grilled cheese was outstanding. Our waitress was so friendly and fun. We had such a great experience that we brought our daughter back the next night for dinner. We were excited to discover a very different menu, hard to decide because everything looked so good. Great place!
We had a great time. Food was excellent. Meaty as you would expect. We had the rib steak and the chorizo and calms. There was an expectation of spicy with the calms but that fell a bit short. Steak was excellent. We also had a deconstructed chili rellenos. Fantastic. Do not let the spice deter you. Dessert list is great. Go for it. Place was busy and a bit noisy. Given the location and the outdoor connection it is expected. Ben was our server and he was great. He had multiple parties and a large group and even though there was just two of us he stayed connected. Waiters pitch in to make sure you feel served. We would definitely go again.
