In February of 1992 Artu opened its doors to the world, starting with outstanding sandwiches and mouth watering roasted meats, we continued to evolve and grow. Since then we have steadily added to our repertoire. From those sandwiches and roasted meats, we have produced old-world comfort food dishes to current interpretations of those classics that still make the most discerning eater reminisce of their childhood.

Waitress was great but table was very tight for 6 people and the noise level upstairs was way too loud. We went for a birthday celebration and couldn’t talk as a table. Appetizers like the burrata and octopus were terrific, but the main meal was less than mediocre. Risotto lobster special had very dry and grainy “risotto” and the portions were less than stellar - vongole linguini was delicious but barely any pasta. We all left and had to get more food elsewhere since we were still hungry despite a hefty bill.
Food was amazing. Service was fast. Love coming back here all the time!
We should have told our waiter but we didn’t want to freak out other guests. There was a mouse in the dining room with us!
Normally I love Artu and we dine here often. I’m not naive to think that the mice aren’t around, it was just disheartening to actually see one!
Artu never disappoints. The food was awesome, our service was good. The only thing you never know is based on seating. It started out ok and then a large loud group arrived and it was a little tough to hear my friends. We left and had dessert elsewhere.
Great food and great service.
Nice place service was a bit average and food is always great.
Very good service. Food was good not great but very acceptable. I would go back.
Another fantastic meal at Artu! Our server, Lorenzo, was friendly and helpful, all 5 of us enjoyed everything we ordered, and we will be back again soon!
I’ve never ever had a bad meal at Artu. It’s my favorite place to go and finding out it’s open on Christmas Eve likely has started new holiday tradition with me! Food is so so so so good.
7 person party for a birthday dinner - received lousy service. Waitress totally intensive, but worst was the wine nonsense. I ordered two $50 bottles of a particular Super Tuscan and after the waitress opened the second to complete the 7-glass pour, I noticed she wasn’t pouring the wine I ordered. She apologized and brought her supervisor who said, “we were out of that and this is our substitute. Same price.” When did they plan to tell me? Also, I had no way of knowing if it was the same price or not since the wine they gave us was not even on the menu. Totally unacceptable. I would’ve changed my order since the substitute wasn’t even the same type of wine. They handled this situation so unprofessionally and I didn’t want to make a scene during my wife’s birthday dinner so I let it go at the time. Again, totally unacceptable.
Great food, great service.
Our favorite No End restaurant.
Always a fabulous dinner.
The service is top notch!
Food was good but very noisy environment. Parking validation was not honored and we ended up paying $16 for parking
We have lunch at Artu to kick off a North End Christmas shopping trip each year, and it never fails. This year was the best ever! Wonderful food, a very festive atmosphere, and great service. Thanks, Artu!
Wonderful service and meal!! Definitely going back another time
Great food and service!!!!
Carbonara mauvaises (eau dans les pâtes, manque de goût)
Service de l’alcool déficient : règle voulant que le vin ne soit servi qu’une fois que les cocktails sont terminés. Résultats : plats servis avant le vin. Froids au moment de manger.
We were taken immediately, service was attentive and helpful. We ordered bruschetta and were happy to see innovation over norm. The bruschetta was broccoli rabe and cannelini beans on grilled garlic bread.
We also ordered pasta e fagiole. Great! In and out in 45 minutes.
Excellent meal, service was prompt, food came out quickly. Highly recomend this jewell on Prince
Unfortunately we would not recommend the North End Artu - the quality of the food was abysmmal. We have eaten here before and enjoyed it but won't be returning. I don't think I have ever written a review of a restaurant before, but since three of the four people in my group could not finish their dinners due to poor tasting food, I had to write this. We don't go out very often and spent over $200 on a dinner for four, which was a waste of our time and money. Our Caprese salad had light pink tomatoes - the worst I have ever tasted. The Charles Street location is much better.
The only downside was a noisy group seated close by. There was no one in the restaurant but them!!
it was incredibly loud but the rest of it was wonderful
We had the calamari app and the grilled veggie antipasto to start. Follwed by a chicken marsala and pasta bolognese. It was also good. The manager Gianni was hospitable and checked on our meal. Oh, we also had a caprese saladt...the mozzarella was so fresh and the tomatoes ripe and delicious. Juan, our server, checked back often. What a great night and what great food. I can not wait to go again!
Food was fresh and delicious. We shared the burrata then a pasta course of homemade bolognese. Finished with pork Milanese and it was so fresh and yummy. Would go again.
Had a fantastic lunch at Artu. Chicken and eggplant parm were delicious, as was the gnocchi. Our server, Juan, was friendly and helpful.
We had a wonderful meal with our travel companions but the one problem we had was we could not talk across the table with our friends. The noise level in the dining room was the absolute worst we've ever experienced. The noise level was sooo loud as we left there with our ears ringing and a feeling of great discomfort
Great for a first date, romantic and comfortable. Food was great. Service was on point
We had a lovely experience today!! Matthew was very professional, attentive and patient with our group today!! We love to come to Artu anytime we get to the North End!
Spinach manicotti was excellent and service was very attentive
Nice portion size
Good wine choices
One of our favorites in the North end
We keep coming back and are never disappointed
Really great food nice intimate dinning experience would recommend to all. Great service as well
Only a small restaurant but very intimate with a nice atmosphere. The food was excellent and the service superb as well. Virtually all the tables were taken. In a great location at Beacon Hill just up from Boston Common. Would definitely recommend.
I entertained clients from out of town at Artu. They wanted a genuine North End experience. The food, the service and the local patrons made the night so fun. We had dinner in the dining room then went for espresso martinis at the bar. ( Highly recommend the martinis Wendy made us ) All in all, the night was a hit. It's just enough off the Hanover Street madness to get seated but I wouldn't risk it. Make a Rez.
We have eaten here many times and the service has always been good but, we come for the food and are never disappointed.
There are better n end restaurants. Food was plain. Atmosphere was eh.
A friend who knows every restaurant in the North End has Artu on his top 5. We tried it and we had an amazing meal.
My partner and I come to Boston from New York City a few times a year to visit family or have a little getaway. I have been to a handful of North End restaurants repeatedly, but I have to say, I think that Artu may be my favorite. It’s just off Hanover street onto Prince, so it’s a little bit quieter and seemingly has less tourists. The atmosphere is very clean, classy, and contemporary. The service is always great and I’ve never seen it overly crowded. The food is AMAZING. Truly wonderful food, and they have allowed me to customize dishes to make them vegetarian, which I really appreciate. At the end, even though the quality of everything was top notch, the bill comes out a lot better than most other North End Italian restaurants. I totally recommend this place, and I know I will be back many more times.
Fabulous food and very friendly people! The lamb was outstanding sand the meatballs were to die for!
Amazing.place.with.delicious food. Focus on the second plates!! We were not disappointed at all.
ALWAYS an amazing experience. Hands down my favorite North End restaurant. Food is always perfect and the service is great.
