My daughter and I arrived at the restaurant to discover it had closed down. No one notified us so we spent the next hour trying to find a brunch spot that we didn't have to wait a few hours to get into. Very disappointing that they didn't think enough of their customers to make a few phone calls to notify us of the closing but I guess that may explain why they are out of business!
Sad to say that Artisan House is closed. It was one of my favorite restaurants.
Restaurant closed without any notice whatsoever. What's the point in making a reservation at a restaurant when and it doesn't open.
The ambiance is cool and they have patio seating options which is great for LA weather. Good brunch options - I got the chicken & waffles which was better than most chicken & waffles I order. I recommend getting a bloody mary. They also have bottomless mimosas for $15.
In spite of having booked an 8:30PM reservation through opentable, the restaurant actually stopped seating people at 8:00 PM. It seems Artisan House is permanently off my list of restaurants, although I enjoyed it the only other time I had been there.
The place was Cosy. What I liked most though is their care with the presentation of their food. I adored the pancakes they were scrumptious. However, I do have to note that they do need to go down with the size of the nuts used in their pancake dish, because each nut is quite big & ruins the composure of the dish in my opinion. Other than that point, I liked everything else . & I will end this by saying that their staff was friendly & genuine.
I really hope ownership doesn't change ! Really loved it there !
Honestly, this dining experience fell way short of my expectations. My girlfriend ordered the ahi tuna stack with the crispy rice buns. The ahi and everything inside was awesome, the rice patties not so much. They were extremely hard to bite into and even more difficult to chew. It was decent, as my girlfriend said "it was nothing I would go back for or crave". My sandwich was another story. I got the chicken sandwich. I love chicken sandwiches and this one sounded amazing until it arrived. The more I got into I kept noticing something that I could not chew, maybe it was the fried jalapenos, I wasn't sure. As I progressed through it I noticed what I could not chew in every bite was the piece of chicken. This piece of chicken must of been hours old and microwaved. It was the worst chicken sandwich I have ever had, hands down. Shame on me for not discovering the chicken was bad earlier. On top of that, our service was sub-par. Not worth the money and will not be back.
The food was tasteless honestly. Too pricey for tasteless food! And the lobster mac and cheese was just bolognese pasta with a ton of parmesan on top...
As I said on Yelp, I was lied to 3 times by them. They change when they closing constantly. (This is a recollection of my last incident (Previous incidents were very similar). I called ahead around 630pm. Victor said the kitchen, under new management and new ownership, was open until 9pm. I arrived 820, my date was arriving at 840. Just a quick bite and then a drink. Easy right? I sat at the bar and was told by the bartender that the kitchen was closed. (keep in mind this is 3rd time in weeks they have done this to me. But good food, so I raised my tolerance) My date is on her way and Victor, the gentlemen I spoke with at 630pm, walks behind me. I tell the bartender, Victor told me 9pm. Victor raises his hands, "That's me!" The bartender laughs and then laughs at me. Victor is oddly proud of his deception and the bartender encouraged it. It was so bizarre and extremely disrespectful. I used to come here often, tipping extremely generously but these 2 guys were so childish and frankly, just adult bullies. Anyways, its a good restaurant but go early because they get wicked DIVA when they are getting close to close. Victor and the bartender with the slick hair are quite rude, avoid them at all costs.
Food was ok not as good as online reviews said they were. Not worth the drive
Service was good - attentive and professional - but, unfortunately, the menu was limited and very uninteresting.
Hit Artisan House for Staples pre-concert dinner. Food was delicious and there were many dishes I am ready to try on my next visit. Located right next door to the famous Coles French Dip!
Nice, cozy, quiet, great food, and the service was exceptional! If you're going to make an impression and have a great time on a first date this is the place!
When we got here at 7:45pm, the restaurant was not packed by any means. The waitress was really nice however she was not the most attentive (especially considering we were one of five tables, with a few servers around).
The food was delish, maybe we just did our research and picked the most popular... Pork Buns, Lobster Mac and Cheese and Italian chop salad. And to top of the night Nutella Beignets. I also had the Jack Daniels Mule, and that went down waaaay to easy. Based off food/drinks alone, this place has it's stuff together. Oh one thing with the lobster mac and cheese, they do not mix the lobster in the mac and cheese. They do make you work for it, meaning they give you two tails (and no utensils, or atleast they did not give us any) and have you scape your lobster out yourself... so not the most awesome.
Also as the night got later, the place did not get too crazy packed so imagine my surprise when the hostess seats a couple right next to us. Now I know i sound elitist right now but I don't mean it like that... there was enough seating to put this couple not so close to us considering the table they put them at was barely enough room for our server to get by. SO to say we became a part of their convo is absolutely the truth... and I'm sorry I don't want to hear tips on staying hydrated when "rolling", when I'm at a romantic dinner with my husband...
What a surprise! This was by far the biggest surprise of downtown la in my book. Happy hour is excellent, top dishes were the sopas and the carne Asada fries.
I definitely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a great happy hour.
The restaurant is close to us and convenient for any meal at any time in a nice atmosphere
and pleasant service. Am planning an October birthday party for about 18 people.
I came into the establishment and I meet my friends there and the service was just terrible I didn't even get served and I love this restaurant so I will no longer be going here and the manager was rude and made it ok the our server didn't serve us and I was just over the whole experience so I left and other people were complaining about the service but the manager on duty didn't do anything
Food was good but the service was poor. The waitress forgot what we ordered and everything was quite slow...
The food was quite tasty, but the service was truly exceptional. My friend and I both have dietary restrictions and our server was more than happy to accommodate us. When it turned out the kitchen wasn't able to modify my companion's meal as he requested, she did so herself. Really above-and-beyond. The location is also quite spacious and nicely decorated.
Girls Night Out! Had lots of fun and the food was terrific!
A very attentive server made the night even better :)
Birthday dinner turned out great
Fun Mothers Day brunch. Warriors-San Antonio game was on the TVs in the bar so even the GS fans in our group were happy. Delicious entrees, the latkes with smoked salmon was
very tasty although the latkes were cold. Friendly waitress who added to the ambiance. Buffet had lots of variety, an unusual assortment from bagels and lox to short ribs. We will return.
Wasn't a bad experience. I had seen mixed reviews after I booked the place for Mother's Day brunch. No valet, so we had to park at a downtown lot. Looked over the menu and family wanted to do the brunch buffet. All the food wasn't bad. It had elements of items on the menu. French toast with an egg was my favorite and seemed like the same thing on the Monsieur sandwich our neighbor ordered. Sausage, eggs, potatoes, the buffet selection was a bit small but overall everything tasted good. I'd go back to try a few of the brunch items on the menu on another trip there. All the food that was made to order looked great and if the buffet is any indication of the taste, the brunch menu should be good.
Great service and excellent food. Calamari perfectly cooked and great lobster Mac and cheese. Dined early so nearly no noise
Brought my friend here for her birthday dinner and it was a hit! Despite being on the patio in the heart of downtown LA, the noise level was minimal and we were able to enjoy a delicious meal. Happy Hour ends at 7 and has a great assortment of drinks and small bites. The Ricotta Potato Gnocci was amazing, highly recommend!
I searched for a reasonably-priced place to eat downtown before our event and the menu looked great. We were blown away by the attentive service, warm (bare brick walls) atmosphere, and most of all the delicious food! We will definitely be returning!!!
Don't bother. The cafe side looks great for lunch but we sort of knew right off the bat when we were seated by the unfriendly, non-smiling hostess who also handed us disgustingly dirty menus that this was not going to be great. We contemplated escaping prior to ordering, but had walked 15 mins from the Ace to get here. The place was empty pretty much and we now know why. The server came over we got water right away. Drinks took a few minutes to come out and the guy who sat after us got his drinks before us. I noticed a table in the far corner had to flag the server for everything and while she was sweet, there were tables outside inside and in the back she was taking. Shame on Management for leaving her alone out there. Service was pretty bad, just not attentive or on it at all, asked for ketchup-they forgot. Asked for a second beer-they forgot. The tater tots saved the experience. One of us ordered the short rib burger. This is one of those things they put on the menu to try and attract attention for. It was ridiculously big, hard to eat and not that good really. Just because something is piled up a foot doesn't mean it's good. This is an unfortunate thing that mediocre places do to get social media attention. Hey-why not just try having good service and awesome food? Everything tasted ok, but service was bad. Clean the menus and spiff up your service. No Management on the floor, and it shows. Someone is asleep at the wheel for their PM service. We won't be making it back.
Love this place! It is a great go-to option. The food is delish, the staff is very nice and welcoming and the "look" is great...brick walls, long bar and its own store (which is a nice option to pick up something to go or pick up a bottle of spirits). Happy Hour at the bar is an excellent value.
I had read great reviews online and was excited to go. However when we got there the service was so-so, cocktails good but not great. Nothing on the menu excited us (my dining partner is a chef) so we ended up leaving after getting an appetizer
Great service from Yolo.
Poke Sandwhich is amazing! Tots were over the top too. Not one bad thing. We enjoyed everything.
So i like to take my wife on dates ones a week.
I always look for nice ambiance, good and tasty and healthy food if we want to.
We invited another couple from our church and the first thing they said was Woooow.
Great place great food and great service.
Will go back for lunch soon.
Made reservations for a retirement lunch for one of our executives, and we arrived to find the restaurant was closed for filming. Our ride had dropped us off, so we were left to wander around to find a place to eat.
No one called, or even expressed regret when we showed up - just a "we're closed. sorry."
Suprisingly great food during happy hour. Small tap beer selection but very good! Love the truffle pizza, sliders, oxtail sopes truffle extra crunchy fries.....perfect for staples pregame eating
What a wonderful way spend a Sunday downtown. An eclectic and fun place to share a meal with that special someone, a friend or a group. The buffet was full of delicious options including farm style meats, eggs potatoes, salads, side dishes and a waffle bar. Mimosas as an inexpensive add on tops out off. We opted for a salmon Benedict and it was mouth watering, perfectly cooked and delicious! Hubby has the Ham and cheese croque monsieur and it was a giant portion of gooey yumminess!
We had $7 Bloody Mary's extra spicy and the were some of the best we have ever had....nice touch with tajin on the rim. Can't wait to go back!!
We were celebrating a friend's birthday. We went on a Saturday night. There were tables available, but the bar was full. There was a UFC fight on that night which got a little loud at times but didn't bother us. The food was spectacular and everyone was able to find something to eat with their dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegetarian and paleo). The wine selection was good (we had a bottle of the Malbec), and the food was delicious. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. I hear the brunch is amazing , so we'll have to go back.
They were ready for us at the reserved time. Service was very good -- no obnoxious hovering, no "Hi, my name is ______ and I'll be your server", no attempts to sell stuff we didn't want, attentiveness to how we were doing, promptness when we were finished and ready to go. Recommended for lunch, when thus far they are (strangely) not crowded. That will change soon.
Had brunch here and we were very impressed. Restaurant has a laid back vibe but the service was extremely sharp. We had the smoked salmon/potato latkes and chicken & waffle which were delicious & the cocktails were tasty & potent. Will definitely be back to try dinner!
