Nice place run by the Ritz Carlton. We shared the lobster tacos, mushroom truffle flatbread and gnocchi. All were great, the gnocchi was very special because it was more of a deconstructed style. Didn't have time for dessert. The only negative was minor, the secondary waiter was too aggressive in removing plates. Felt a bit rushed. Otherwise would recommend!

We went for valentines day. The special (made for 2) was AMAZING. To start the fried oyster taco... delicious! The salad was light and refreshing. The main course of a 22 oz ribeye.... i wanted to cry my first bite was so good- and the side of scalloped potatoes was the perfect compliment. Outstanding valentines day meal. I need to know when that special is on the menu again, because i will be back. The ambiance was quiet, small, casual, low lighting, perfect for a date spot.

I ordered a burger with cheddar cheese only. I got the burger with the onion relish and bacon on it. I did not notice this as it looked like some of it was wiped off. After eating a few bites I noticed this. No waiter to be found. Never checked on us. I was hungry to I picked off the remaining onions and bacon. When the waiter finally arrived to check on this I told him of the mistake. He said he asked for it on the side and it was on the side. I told him it is on the side because I picked it off and put it there. I never asked for it on the side....I didn’t want it!! He said he would inform the chef. He came back 5 minutes later with the check...and no apology. Shame on you Ritz Carlton. 25$ for a burger that comes to a customer this way

The website photos belie the fact this is a hotel lobby smallish restaurant. Cool decor, excellent wait staff and extremely tasty food -- but not cheap. It was a convenient short walk to the Opera House and that was the intent, and since there really aren't a lot of other similar options it was a good choice and the quality of the food made it worthwhile.

First, the venue - it's nice. It's relatively casual (wood tables, wood floor, chairs), not crowded, and at 5:30 it was quiet enough, without being silent as a church. Our table, a "two-top," was really, really small. The aisle alongside was wide open; they could have easily used wider tables.

Next, the service... We arrived exactly on time for our 5:30 pre-theater reservation ends there was no one at the reception desk. We stood there for at least 5 minutes while various employees moved around the bar and restaurant before someone finally came over to check on us. The wait staff was good, not exceptional - our waiter was hard to hear/understand. We were able to piece together the social, but at this level I'd expect a written addendum to the menu.

Ok - on to the food, which is really what matters, right? The food quality was excellent. We both had scallops, which were tender, fresh, and properly seared. The onion "jam" (puree) was wonderful, and the two sauteed scallions were a surprise and lovely. Real side dishes are all a la carte, and we had a side of asparagus, which were nicely crisp but cooked.

Now, the negatives. First, whoever decided to serve the scallops in a bowl with a small center and a wide rim should be shot. It may look pretty, but eating was a big challenge - there's no place to put your side dish without immersing it in onion puree. The bowl is really tippy if you try to use the rim, I lost an asparagus to the floor this way. This highlights the other issue - price/value. The asparagus side dish for $10 was 5 spears peeled and trimmed to about 6" long, so you can see why I was unhappy about dumping a $2 spear onto the floor. The scallop main course consisted of 4 nice sized scallops, but for $34 I was expecting more ($8.50 per scallop?!). I've eaten in Michelin star restaurants here and around the world where you expect prices like this, but not at a "bistro." We both enjoyed our food, but we both left hungry.

Tasty food, excellent service, convenient location for a bite to eat before or after the theater or movie. Dined with three other people and everyone enjoyed their dish. Our server was attentive and friendly without being omnipresent. Lively scene and a comfortable space to dine and talk. Food was very good. Generous pours on the drinks. Would dine there again. Close to the T (bus to the South End and Fenway, Green Line, and Orange line all a block away).

Good flatbreads, gnocchi. Inexperienced service. Extremely noisy. A bit pricey for what it is, but it is attached to the Ritz after all.

We went for brunch, and it was outstanding. I had truffled duck eggs on a baguette with mushrooms and provolone cheese, and the flavors of each were amazing complements to their partners. It was a different menu option from a typical brunch offering and I'm glad I tried it. It really was delicious.

No complaints about the food or service, the reason for the three stars is because it was very cold in the restaurant. Granted it was freezing outside, but most of the people in the restaurant were eating with their coats on!

Our server got switched with no warning. Ordered two salads dairy free. Both came out covered in goat cheese. Back they went and then 20 minutes later got our order. Total wait time for food - 45 minutes which made getting to our show very tight with two kids in tow.

Pre-theatre dinner: you expect an efficient routine for a restaurant which should be used to this kind of pre-ballet timing. Instead service was slow (despite reminders) and the food was cold by the time it arrived (indicating that it had been standing waiting in the kitchen for the server to pick it up). We ended up saying we had to leave in order not to miss our performance. At that point the food was brought in and we got a 75% discount on the bill (thank you). Still we could only take a few bites and run. Not what you expect at the Ritz.

I organized a brunch for 4 girlfriends at the Artisan Bistro last Sunday. Perfect brunch spot - with attentive service, great food and a lovely spot in a small, intimate restaurant/bar. I would recommend this venue for anyone looking for a centrally located, pretty luxurious brunch spot.

We had a very disappointing experience at Artisan Bistro. Poor service, food was terrible, steak not cooked properly, food arrived to the table at random times (kid's meals, sides with mains, etc.), only the men at the table had their waters refilled (huh??), 2 steaks cooked unevenly, gnocchi was gummy and salty, were never asked how our meal was going, was never asked if we needed anything else, never offered second round of drinks, waited an hour for our dinner, had the bottle of sparkling water taken from my hand so that the waiter could serve it to someone else. We laughed when it happened because it was so strikingly ridiculous and the waiter didn't flinch. I normally don't leave reviews, because I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but in a city with so many great places to eat - skip this one.

The food was great here. Both me and my wife went here for a pre-ballet dinner and drinks and we weren't disappointed. My wife said that her dish (scallops) was the best she'd ever had. My dish (cod) was also incredible - great combination of ingredients and flavors. The drinks were also really good. The artisan mule is a hit. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

After being seated, we waited about 15 minutes before our waiter came over. He was pleasant and apologized, but it was not busy so I’m not sure where he was. Dinner went smoothly and was super tasty, but then after waiting 30 minutes for our dessert, that never came, we sadly had to leave for the show. He did offer to give it to us for free if we came back after the show. I would definitely give it another shot, in hopes he was just having a bad night.

All of our food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service was lovely and well paced. In fact, our server couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. We were going to an afternoon ballet up the street at the Opera House, so we had plenty of time to enjoy a delicious meal and still get to our performance easily. We were celebrating the upcoming birth of a new baby in our family, and our waiter brought us a special plate of pink and blue sweet treats — gratis! I’ve been here several times and had similarly special experiences. Artisan Bistro is my favorite restaurant in Boston’s theater district.

The worst restaurant experience EVER!! We had reservations, were seated immediately, and explained that we were pressed for time and would order immediately, and then only one course. No one came to our table to take even a drink order for at least 30 minutes! After repeated requests, our food never materialized, and we sat there with only bread and water for close to 1 1/2 hours. We finally walked out, sans food. The manager apologized for a mix up in the kitchen, but the apology seemed hollow. We were told we could come back after the show for dinner, but that clearly didn't solve our hunger. We will NEVER return.
