Waited 5 minutes before hostess greeted us at the front for our 6:15pm reservation. They had already run out of the soup we ordered. And they delivered us the incorrect order for our mains. They did comp us an appetizer and two desert orders, though.
Birthday nice gourmet cupcakes and a balloon
We had the buffet brunch before the Ballet at the Opera house, and it was delicious. There was something for everyone, a good variety as well as omelets made freshly with a wide choice of ingredients. It had a fun, casual ambience. There was also an ala carte lunch/breakfast menu.
The Ritz manages to be fancy and comfortable all at once. The food is incredible and the waitstaff is amazing. xo
I'm not sure how long the restaurant has been open, but it had the feel of a new restaurant still in shakedown mode. Everything was a bit off from service to food presentation. From a service standpoint, they seemed very interested in hurrying us up [I understand turning tables, but most good restaurants are a bit more tactful about it]. I ordered a bottle of wine for dinner, it took them 20 minutes to return and tell me the one I chose was out; so I ordered an alternate that 15 minutes later I was informed they were also out of. I took their suggestion for a third bottle because by that point I was eating my entree sans wine and I frankly just wanted it to be all over. In their defense, they didn't charge us for the wine. I will not be returning.
Perfect night out in Boston. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The menu features a wide array of stainable cuisine -sustainable yet reasonable in price! The service was efficient but not overbearing. We look forward to coming back!
The food was alright. We ordered s the pork pizza, charcuterie plate and the hot olives. The olives were delicious, the charcuterie plate provided a nice selection of cheeses and meats, and the pizza was fair.
The service could have been much better. While the server had a couple of tables, there were long delays in the time he took to circle back. Polite but way too long with an empty restaurant
This was a last minute reservation following a theatre performance in the neighborhood. We dine out frequently but hadn't been to Artisan Bistro in several years. It seemed like a safe choice but it quickly became clear why, on such a busy evening, this restaurant had availability. We were promptly seated but that was the last bit of acceptable service. We weren't greeted by a server or asked for a drink order or even served water until we flagged one of several waitstaff wandering in the small dining room. The restaurant was not busy and there were several employees that seemed free. When we remarked to each other that things seemed very slow, a couple at a neighboring table said "just wait, it gets worse." Sadly, they were correct and things slid downhill from there.
This evening was a vivid example of how good service slides seamlessly into the background, poor service annoyingly takes center stage and radically impacts the quality of an evening. We were grateful that this dinner followed the theatre, if we needed to make a curtain, our annoyance would have become full blown distress.
I rarely write a negative review but there was no excuse (and no apology offered) for this poor service at a Ritz Carleton location.
The food prep and presentation always consistent. The service seems to be consistently poor. A Saturday night and only one waiter working the dining room??? Plenty of staff milling around, but only one waiter. Flawed model!! Have to leave plenty of time if dining pre-theater!!! Would recommend based upon quality of food, but beware of extremely long wait times!
Sat at the bar. Bartender very nice and attentive.
limited and over-priced menu and a poor choice as the only restaurant for a luxury hotel
Very friendly service and delicious food. We didn’t have much time before our movie, but the grilled cauliflower steak and lobster tacos hit the spot.
Grilled stone fruit was excellent
We had breakfast at Artisan Bistro this weekend and OMG we thought the dinner we had a few weeks ago was great, for the price and what you get you can’t beat breakfast, especially the buffet. Service was amazing as always! We’ll be back!
Great food and service. Menu was somewhat limited
Visiting on a Sunday provided a unique experience that could not be afforded otherwise. The staff took their time to get to know me and ensure that I enjoyed the experience, and I will definitely consider going back in the coming years.
The food was excellent, and the service is phenomenal.
Food mediocre and despite it being a quiet evening in the restaurant with relatively little for staff to do, the service was poor.
The restaurant was clearly understaffed on this visit. We had a much better experience last time. It was unfortunate, and based upon our previous experiences, I still recommend Artisan Bistro.
Everything was wonderful!~ Went here pre-theater and were happy from bread & butter to appetizer to main course to dessert.
Great service, took allergies "seriously."
My daughter and I always go there before the theater. The service on Saturday was beyond bad. Had a ask the hostess for the check three times. Never saw the server. They changed the menu...not an improvement. I guess we will have to find a new spot.
The Artisan Bistro is a favorite spot for me to get together with girlfriends. A great central location, excellent service and really wonderful food. I didn't realize they have a buffet on the weekends - brunch was really stellar.
You can enjoy a Sunday brunch and be selective in those items that are fresh and well prepared.
Get your carbs from the made from scratch pan cakes and waffles and forget the " thawed" croissants and mini muffins. Made to order omelets are great!
Pre theater dinner. Our waiter was excellent
a very disappointing experience; certainly expected much more from a restaurant within a Ritz Carlton. No waiter for first 15 minutes after sitting down; 45 minutes until drinks served! 2 of our 3 meals were good, one marginally acceptable. One of our party requested a "Faux-cocktail" and waiter said they don't serve those anymore; when we requested to meet the food/beverage manager ( who finally expedited our food order) she said he was wrong, that would have made one... almost worse than the original ( inappropriate) response. Noise level was deafening.
At Artisan Bistro we always enjoy a great meal with outstanding service. The bartender is friendly and precise and the waitstaff are all attentive.
Don’t go here! As a foodie who has eaten at most places in Boston, I can say this was one of the worst dining experiences in awhile. The Ritz Carlton should be ashamed to have their name on a place churning out tired chicken and flavorless sides, exorbitant princesses. The room was nice looking, but what’s the point. Go elsewhere!
I had the eggs Benedict. They were cooked perfectly and delicious. My friends had the buffet. Seemed kind of a lot of money for your basic breakfast buffet
Daughter’s last Boston Ballet performance of the season...
Eugene is the best. Keep up the good job.
Artisan Bistro used to be our go-to place when we came into town to go to the Opera House. I think we're going to find a new place.
There were significantly fewer choices on the menu. I recall beef tartar, cheese plate... Now it was a few choices and nothing truly unique. We weren't even given a wine list when we sat down. The main course had greens that were so slaty they were inedible.
I'm sad. This was a great place to eat, and now we don't think it's worth the money.
The food was outstanding. We had the vichyssoise which was served warm. Best potato soup ever! I had the roast chicken which was delicious and my husband had the scallops which he said were delicious with the risotto.
They did not serve a lunch menu until 3pm, only bruch, with the exception of certain salads. The salads were very poor, not tasty and not looking nice. The table was not ready when we arrived, although we made reservations through opentable and confirmed our reservation as well. I expected much more from Ritz- Carlton, do not have lunch here.
I had brunch with 4 friends at artisan Bistro on a late Saturday morning. I’ve always liked this restaurant as it is usually not busy and has a good menu and a wonderful location with very large, sunny windows.
The food was absolutely marvelous and I also heard good reviews on the Bloody Marys from those in our parties that ordered them. :)
Only downside is that they seemed a little short-staffed as we waiting quite a long time for our food - it was worth it once it arrived though!
Loved it. Always do.
Quick bite before the theatre included the hamburger on brioche (delicious), the flatbread (very good), a salad and two cocktails. Service was friendly but super slow.
Loved the service level and location. Food was excellent. The only things preventing me from giving this five stars across all categories were: (1) web site didn't make it clear that Brunch was served on Saturday NOT the lunch menu, so that was disappointing; (2) noise level was a bit high because of crying children, which I know can't be helped, but was a distraction nonetheless.
A great place to grab a delicious meal after a show. Creative cocktails and plenty of menu options. Service was very good. We will be back.
It's OK standard buffet brunch but not the usual quality you would associate being in The Ritz Hotel of Boston.
Breakfast pastry does not appear to be baked fresh and looks like was taken from a container and defrosted from a generic supply warehouse :-(
So eat everything but the carbs which most people avoid anyhow.
