The staff there are among the best warmest and friendliest at any restaurant anywhere. Always a great experience to eat there. Big thank you to Eugene and Uton for being so welcoming. They are the best.
A return visit for a pre theater dinner. Delightful experience in every way. Food was excellent and the service is always attentive, warm and welcoming. We will be backache!
Nice place run by the Ritz Carlton. We shared the lobster tacos, mushroom truffle flatbread and gnocchi. All were great, the gnocchi was very special because it was more of a deconstructed style. Didn't have time for dessert. The only negative was minor, the secondary waiter was too aggressive in removing plates. Felt a bit rushed. Otherwise would recommend!
We went for valentines day. The special (made for 2) was AMAZING. To start the fried oyster taco... delicious! The salad was light and refreshing. The main course of a 22 oz ribeye.... i wanted to cry my first bite was so good- and the side of scalloped potatoes was the perfect compliment. Outstanding valentines day meal. I need to know when that special is on the menu again, because i will be back. The ambiance was quiet, small, casual, low lighting, perfect for a date spot.
This was perfect choice for Sunday brunch before theater at the opera house. Service can be spotty but gets you there on time.
I ordered a burger with cheddar cheese only. I got the burger with the onion relish and bacon on it. I did not notice this as it looked like some of it was wiped off. After eating a few bites I noticed this. No waiter to be found. Never checked on us. I was hungry to I picked off the remaining onions and bacon. When the waiter finally arrived to check on this I told him of the mistake. He said he asked for it on the side and it was on the side. I told him it is on the side because I picked it off and put it there. I never asked for it on the side....I didn’t want it!! He said he would inform the chef. He came back 5 minutes later with the check...and no apology. Shame on you Ritz Carlton. 25$ for a burger that comes to a customer this way
We had a wonderful meal with great service in a lovely room. What more could you ask for?
The website photos belie the fact this is a hotel lobby smallish restaurant. Cool decor, excellent wait staff and extremely tasty food -- but not cheap. It was a convenient short walk to the Opera House and that was the intent, and since there really aren't a lot of other similar options it was a good choice and the quality of the food made it worthwhile.
First, the venue - it's nice. It's relatively casual (wood tables, wood floor, chairs), not crowded, and at 5:30 it was quiet enough, without being silent as a church. Our table, a "two-top," was really, really small. The aisle alongside was wide open; they could have easily used wider tables.
Next, the service... We arrived exactly on time for our 5:30 pre-theater reservation ends there was no one at the reception desk. We stood there for at least 5 minutes while various employees moved around the bar and restaurant before someone finally came over to check on us. The wait staff was good, not exceptional - our waiter was hard to hear/understand. We were able to piece together the social, but at this level I'd expect a written addendum to the menu.
Ok - on to the food, which is really what matters, right? The food quality was excellent. We both had scallops, which were tender, fresh, and properly seared. The onion "jam" (puree) was wonderful, and the two sauteed scallions were a surprise and lovely. Real side dishes are all a la carte, and we had a side of asparagus, which were nicely crisp but cooked.
Now, the negatives. First, whoever decided to serve the scallops in a bowl with a small center and a wide rim should be shot. It may look pretty, but eating was a big challenge - there's no place to put your side dish without immersing it in onion puree. The bowl is really tippy if you try to use the rim, I lost an asparagus to the floor this way. This highlights the other issue - price/value. The asparagus side dish for $10 was 5 spears peeled and trimmed to about 6" long, so you can see why I was unhappy about dumping a $2 spear onto the floor. The scallop main course consisted of 4 nice sized scallops, but for $34 I was expecting more ($8.50 per scallop?!). I've eaten in Michelin star restaurants here and around the world where you expect prices like this, but not at a "bistro." We both enjoyed our food, but we both left hungry.
