The food and service were great. The walk to the Opera House after dinner was very quick!
better than blogs would suggest. wonderful meals...great location...recommended
The food and service was great!!
We love coming here, and have for a few years now. Anytime we know we're going into the city we always make reservations at Artisan Bistro. The food never disappoints and the service is always excellent.
Good was excellent but we were waiting at times to get service in the beginning.
The restaurant itself was very nice but the food portions were very small. Definitely over priced ... would not go back.
Limited menu but several good seafood options. A la carte sides. Pricey.
We couldn't get into our first choice when I booked the reservation 5 days in advance, and wasn't sure how it would work out before going to the ballet. It turned out the prompt, friendly service allowed us plenty of time. The dinner was delicious, although somewhat pricey. However, the quality probably warranted the hefty tab.
Great dinner experience before the ballet. Would dine there again!
Artisan Bistro never disappoints! They are always very attentive to me and my family. They go above and beyond to ensure that I have the food I want prepared in the way I like. From the hostess staff, Kristine, to the wonderful wait staff, Eugene, Elibel, and Sandra. I always feel like I am at home.
Didn't like lobster tacos very much; wish I had chosen mussels same as my last visit - recall mussels as very good. Kale salad was a good choice - very tasty.
My waiter was rude the whole time. I was with a male family member and I ( not the other person) asked a question about one of the options and the waiter looked at my father and NEVER once at me. The whole time, he made no eye contact with me and if I asked a question, he would turn away and answer to the other person. I thought that was pretty rude and sexiest.
This is a very nice bistro. While it's somewhat expected since it's located in the Ritz...the prices are very high and the portions are small. I thought to get a burger but $24 for a burger is a bit ridiculous. My husband had the scallops - 4 scallops with potatoes for $34. Nice enough place but overpriced in our opinion.
The brick chicken was delicious but not crispy as expected. The desserts were original, beautiful and tasty. The server and kitchen were very attentive and responsive to my allergy issue, which I appreciated.
Small restaurant/bar Sunday brunch and the food was delightful, but the room was very noisy, very slow service for menu's and even slower arrival of the Wait Staff to take brunch orders; we were not in a hurry and still the wait times were elongated along with having to catch the staff to be waited upon...
Great service and food !
The staff there are among the best warmest and friendliest at any restaurant anywhere. Always a great experience to eat there. Big thank you to Eugene and Uton for being so welcoming. They are the best.
A return visit for a pre theater dinner. Delightful experience in every way. Food was excellent and the service is always attentive, warm and welcoming. We will be backache!
Nice place run by the Ritz Carlton. We shared the lobster tacos, mushroom truffle flatbread and gnocchi. All were great, the gnocchi was very special because it was more of a deconstructed style. Didn't have time for dessert. The only negative was minor, the secondary waiter was too aggressive in removing plates. Felt a bit rushed. Otherwise would recommend!
We went for valentines day. The special (made for 2) was AMAZING. To start the fried oyster taco... delicious! The salad was light and refreshing. The main course of a 22 oz ribeye.... i wanted to cry my first bite was so good- and the side of scalloped potatoes was the perfect compliment. Outstanding valentines day meal. I need to know when that special is on the menu again, because i will be back. The ambiance was quiet, small, casual, low lighting, perfect for a date spot.
This was perfect choice for Sunday brunch before theater at the opera house. Service can be spotty but gets you there on time.
I ordered a burger with cheddar cheese only. I got the burger with the onion relish and bacon on it. I did not notice this as it looked like some of it was wiped off. After eating a few bites I noticed this. No waiter to be found. Never checked on us. I was hungry to I picked off the remaining onions and bacon. When the waiter finally arrived to check on this I told him of the mistake. He said he asked for it on the side and it was on the side. I told him it is on the side because I picked it off and put it there. I never asked for it on the side....I didn’t want it!! He said he would inform the chef. He came back 5 minutes later with the check...and no apology. Shame on you Ritz Carlton. 25$ for a burger that comes to a customer this way
We had a wonderful meal with great service in a lovely room. What more could you ask for?
The website photos belie the fact this is a hotel lobby smallish restaurant. Cool decor, excellent wait staff and extremely tasty food -- but not cheap. It was a convenient short walk to the Opera House and that was the intent, and since there really aren't a lot of other similar options it was a good choice and the quality of the food made it worthwhile.
First, the venue - it's nice. It's relatively casual (wood tables, wood floor, chairs), not crowded, and at 5:30 it was quiet enough, without being silent as a church. Our table, a "two-top," was really, really small. The aisle alongside was wide open; they could have easily used wider tables.
Next, the service... We arrived exactly on time for our 5:30 pre-theater reservation ends there was no one at the reception desk. We stood there for at least 5 minutes while various employees moved around the bar and restaurant before someone finally came over to check on us. The wait staff was good, not exceptional - our waiter was hard to hear/understand. We were able to piece together the social, but at this level I'd expect a written addendum to the menu.
Ok - on to the food, which is really what matters, right? The food quality was excellent. We both had scallops, which were tender, fresh, and properly seared. The onion "jam" (puree) was wonderful, and the two sauteed scallions were a surprise and lovely. Real side dishes are all a la carte, and we had a side of asparagus, which were nicely crisp but cooked.
Now, the negatives. First, whoever decided to serve the scallops in a bowl with a small center and a wide rim should be shot. It may look pretty, but eating was a big challenge - there's no place to put your side dish without immersing it in onion puree. The bowl is really tippy if you try to use the rim, I lost an asparagus to the floor this way. This highlights the other issue - price/value. The asparagus side dish for $10 was 5 spears peeled and trimmed to about 6" long, so you can see why I was unhappy about dumping a $2 spear onto the floor. The scallop main course consisted of 4 nice sized scallops, but for $34 I was expecting more ($8.50 per scallop?!). I've eaten in Michelin star restaurants here and around the world where you expect prices like this, but not at a "bistro." We both enjoyed our food, but we both left hungry.
It was great, we liked it a lot
One couldn't complain or ask for more attentive service.
Tasty food, excellent service, convenient location for a bite to eat before or after the theater or movie. Dined with three other people and everyone enjoyed their dish. Our server was attentive and friendly without being omnipresent. Lively scene and a comfortable space to dine and talk. Food was very good. Generous pours on the drinks. Would dine there again. Close to the T (bus to the South End and Fenway, Green Line, and Orange line all a block away).
Good flatbreads, gnocchi. Inexperienced service. Extremely noisy. A bit pricey for what it is, but it is attached to the Ritz after all.
We went for brunch, and it was outstanding. I had truffled duck eggs on a baguette with mushrooms and provolone cheese, and the flavors of each were amazing complements to their partners. It was a different menu option from a typical brunch offering and I'm glad I tried it. It really was delicious.
As usual another great night with excellent service from Eugene and all the staff there. They are friendly attentive and thoughtful. Always going one step further to be helpful.
Love the Artisan Bistro. Great location near the theater. Seasonal menu is terrific. Staff is amazing!
went for a small birthday dinner. Absolutely loved the surprise "birthday dessert" and how it was presented. Very impressed. I also ordered decaf coffee after dinner which was the best coffee I've ever had in a restaurant. wonderful experience. Service was excellent.
No complaints about the food or service, the reason for the three stars is because it was very cold in the restaurant. Granted it was freezing outside, but most of the people in the restaurant were eating with their coats on!
Good food, service was great but place is darn cold! Pice high with not a lot of options but quality is there
I loved the filet, they nailed it and the food is good. The atmosphere is okay for a hotel bar nothing special one way or the other but good food for sure.
Too expensive! For soup, salad and pizza, it's way too expensive. I've never paid so much for simple food.
Really nice atmosphere! The service was excellent and the food was very good! We came here for breakfast before a matinee. It was very convenient to park in their garage and walk to the theater from here
Food was good. Service was very good. Bar was very loud (Patriot's game). Overall good choice for pre-theatre brunch.
