Couldn’t handle special requests for someone in our party with a lot of food challenges. Kitchen is extremely inflexible in this situation. Almost gave up and left given the difficulties encountered in negotiations

Our service was extremely inadequate and food was less than marginal. We have dined here before and this was our worst experience.

This could be an amazing restaurant, but it just misses the mark. If you are going to charge premium prices, then everything needs to be perfect, and it just wasn’t. Our server couldn’t speak to the wine list when we asked for recommendations, brought the wrong kind of glasses for the wine chosen, and was overall just not suited to a fine dining establishment. Too intrusive and yet inattentive about sums it up. The food was correctly prepared, but not terribly creative. Overall, it was an ok experience, but some tuning up would make this a much better experience.

It was New Years celebration so they add more tables and chairs.. tight quarters made the ambiance lower. The service was okay. had to keep asking for water. never got served any bread until we finally asked if they had any. Server as working several different unrelated areas of the restaurant but regardless did a great job. Food was very expensive and presentation was not up tp their normal standards. Regardless, taste being the overriding factor, food was very good. Prime Rib was perfect. Calamari was excellent...Not the usual heavily breaded style but fresh and tender. Espresso was extremely tiny and consumed in two sips...for the price charged one would think they could afford to serve in a regular espresso tasa. Been a customer for over 18 years and will continue to be for many more to come.

Went in with high expectations based on reviews but a bit disappointed in the end. Good food with little touches of creativity here and there but these often fell flat. We had the artichoke which was standard fare, the interesting roasted garlic and a well done fried cauliflower appetizer. The salmon was decent but the same as salmon done in half the restaurants in the US. The scallops were good but the squid ink risotto was so overcooked that it was unrecognizable as rice. The chicken was bland. In the end, a rather ordinary meal, decent enough but with a high price tag.

We dine at Artichoke cafe several times a year. Christmas Eve 2017 was not quite what I would expect for approximately $80 a person with only 2 glasses of wine and no appetizer.

The salads were superb but the rest of the dinner was moderate. My husband's prime rib was so-so tender and served on a bed of mashed sweet potatoes and sprouts but no garnish. Just a slab of meat on veggies.

My filet dinner was very good and garnished. My dessert (blood orange sorbet) was served in a glass dish - just 3 small scoops and no garnish.

Overall, food was good but presentation was poor to non-existent.

The appetizers were above average. The entrees were average & below. I ordered the prime rib med-rare thinking that’s how it’s served. My plate was mostly rare. Couldn’t cut it, couldn’t chew it. Left most of it on the plate. Will not go back!

If we hadn't previously enjoyed many nice meals here over 25 years this experience would mean never coming back. Still might be gun shy for a special occasion. Waitress forgot to put in appetizer order or to get dinner wine order. After 40 minutes of no attention, entrees appeared without the appetizer or wine. We sent the plates back and they promised to remake after serving our appetizer. Nonetheless, meals were lukewarm. Waited extra time to get bread pudding for desert because it had to be warmer before serving but then it came cold. Thought they might have comped the desserts but they didn't. It was a busy night but a good restaurant knows how to deal with a crowd and not compromise quality.

This is the best restaurant in Albuquerque for that special occasion, like an anniversary, birthday, date night, or special get together. A little pricey but, like most things in life, you get what you pay for: great food and attentive service without being intrusive. Lunch is equally impressive. You can't go wrong here.

Not my best experience there. Ordered the artichoke appetizer and we left most of it in the plate. At $9 it was ridiculously overpriced considering it had almost no edible meat. Entrees were ok but nothing special even though I'm the past they'd been very good. Finally the server lost my credit card and we found it under the table next to us. For what we paid I was pretty disappointed.

Not up to their old standards, sorry to say. We've been going there for many years. The food was good, but used to be great. Service was so-so. We were going to a concert after dinner and it was frustrating trying to get our check and be on our way. Will give it another try before crossing it off our list of favorite places.

My date wanted to sit at a particular table, which was where we happily were. The service was attentive and at the point where we became pressed for time, responsive to our need to finish.

My only quibble was the steak taertere was finely chopped rather than ground and therefore not quite what I expected (or have had at other restaurants). That is not to take from the taste or quality which were both good but rather an appearance/texture issue.

I particularly wanted to come to the Artichoke Cafe for my birthday celebration and to treat out-of-town guests, who were very impressed, telling us how much they had enjoyed the evening. As they come from Texas, they were happy to see the opportunity to get a whole artichoke, something that is rarer where they come from. I loved the scallops meal that I had, plus that the chef honored my lactose free diet. We will surely return the next time we want a celebration.
Our only disappointment was the high level of ambient noise.

Artichoke Cafe never fails to be enjoyable, although we both thought the kitchen was too heavy-handed with the spices, as our dishes were overwhelmed by the heat. I had the scallops diavolo, and, yes, I expected some heat. My husband had the crab cakes. The wine list could be extended and maybe include half bottles.

The Artichoke is just solid. It's a reliable fine dining destination. We were a party of four for dinner. The service started off a bit slow but I got the sense our waitperson had several tables seated at once. Everything after that ran well. The noise level is a bit high for this type of restaurant but I'm sure if you asked they would work to find a quieter table.

The entrees were excellent. I had scallops, which I immediately insisted my companions sample because they were, truly, the most perfectly prepared scallops I have ever had.

The desserts were a bit of a disappointment but flourless chocolate torte and creme brulee - well there's only so much you can do with those so not a deal breaker.

I'm grateful The Artichoke is here. I certainly can't afford it very often, but when I go I know I will be rewarded with an excellent experience.
