Artful Gourmet Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Enjoyed an early evening dinner with friends. My only complaint and it is important was that we were not notified that the New Year's Eve menu was a "special" menu with inflated prices. That was a big turnoff upon being handed the menus after being seated. The manager apologized saying she aimed to correct the situation next NYE. She did not charge us for our desserts which was a nice gesture.
I can't recall how we heard about this restaurant, but it was worth the trip. We found everything to be just great, food selection, bar selection, preparation, presentation. It was only at the very end when I really needed more water but the waitperson was done with us once she gave us the check. I would go again when we are looking for something in the suburbs, not downtown.
We had a delicious casual meal with excellent service. We were pleasantly surprised when our server brought us a generous piece of yummy cake with whipped creme on the side for desert
and said "Happy Holiday".... enjoy!
We certainly did not expect that... it was a perfect way to end our meal.
Artful Gourmet is reliable for a casual get together. We've eaten here before and the food is good, with a decent selection of menu items. On the plus side for the turkey burger was the avocado and tomato and the chipotle mayo. On the downside was that the turkey burger was pretty dry. The other three folks at the table were pleased with their food. We had a very nice server who was quite attentive without being intrusive.
The host, David, greeted us with a wide smile and seated us with a very friendly and gracious manner. The food was very well presented and was very tasty. Unfortunately the vegetable, broccoli, was served cold as was the mashed potatoes to one guest. Our server, Leann, was very nice , informative, and attentive.
We tried it again...never having loved this restaurant but it does stay in business so...there we were.
All of the things that were annoying were still there. The bar was LOUD and cold. Bartender did made a decent martini. We left the bar since the noise and cold weren't what we were looking for.
Restaurant itself was warmer and our server pleasant enough but the overall ambience was a downer; not exactly sure why but it's how we felt. The dishes we ordered were mediocre at best. My dish included pasta which was totally overcooked and over-seasoned. My wife liked her dish somewhat more.
Others may enjoy the setting and the food but we really didn't.
We went for a light, early evening meal. Each of us ordered an appetizer, and a salad. The calamari is always tender and delicious, as are the mussels. To my surprise, this time the mussels, while a very generous portion, were tiny - very little meat, but a terrific sauce. All of their salads are excellent, and they never disappoint.
This is my second time eating at the Artful Gourmet and all I can say is that we need to eat here more often. The dishes are very well prepared, seasoned perfectly, and very pleasing to the eye. I ate the paella (called The Last Supper on their menu). My partner had the Pieta (similar to an eggplant parmegian). Also the Nouveau Salad was a delicious way to start the meal. And you'll love the fresh baked, hot dinner rolls with dipping oil. While we didn't order dessert, we spied several sumptuous looking dishes at the table next to us: carrot cake, chocolate cake?, chocolate lava cake nestled in a mountain of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream (next time).
This place is in the back of an unprepossessing strip mall, but it is several steps above the average local restaurant. We have dined there three times now and have never been disappointed. It is often crowded and a reservation is a good idea. From comfort food items to creative specials the menu is diverse and has never disappointed. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!
We have been here many times. Our visits have all been good ones as was this latest. We both had soup and a salad for our meal. The soups were good and the salads we ordered were good and large enough for a complete meal. The soups this visit were butternut squash and seafood soup. My wife tried the Pumpkin Beer which was the special. I tried the spicy margarita. Both were very good. We did not get dessert because we both were full with the soup & salad. Our waitress was very good.
