Behind the sushi bar, Chef Andrew Hoh continues to create signature rolls such as his fresh Albino Roll and decadent Scrumptious Roll which combine the eclectic flavors of Southern California, a technique he is known for, while inventing new rolls on the spot to diners’ delight.
In addition to their new menus, Arterra has rolled out a new craft cocktail program starting with a new bourbon menu featuring a selection of premium, handcrafted bourbons, bourbon infused cocktails and bourbon flights of small batch, single barrel, grain, age and distillery bourbons. A new wine list and cocktail program for the outdoor lounge are also available.

They are currently remodeling and moved the restaurant to a makeshift cafeteria style in a ballroom with a limited menu and bar. It took 10 minutes to get anyone to come over after we were seated and after we finished dinner another 15 minutes for a dessert menu. The waitress never came back to take our dessert orders and we finally went to the makeshift bar to ask for our check. Wait another 3 months until renovations are complete before going. Right now it's just awful!
Food is pretty good. While they're renovating, the restaurant is in a conference room which lacks ambiance but at least is quiet. Unfortunately our service was very poor on the last occasion. The waiter never refilled our water, forgot one of my orders, and was very hard to get ahold of.
LoCal under construction
Right now the restaurant in under construction and it moved to the conference room . There was not enough servers and we waited 1:20 min for sushi. Yes, we didn't have to pay for it but it 2 people had to
watch how the others are eating. This place should be closed during the remodeling.
Apparently, it is being remodeled, so it has temporarily been moved into a conference/ballroom section of the hotel. The food was relatively good, but the atmosphere was dismal.
I haven't been to Arterra in years, and was taking a business associate to lunch. Business associate was looking forward, as he had never been to the restaurant. Arrived at 12:30, with reservation, to find that restaurant was undergoing renovation, and the "restaurant" was relocated in a meeting room, which was full, noisy, and we were told we would have to wait 15 minutes on a work day to be seated. Eventually we were seated, and our salads were quite good, as was our waiter (who was very apologetic). I would suggest that until the renovation is completed, Arterra get off of the OpenTable site, so they may inform potential customers on the phone of their situation. I paid top dollar for a meal in a noisy meeting room, which did not at all live up to my expectations. They offered us a free dessert, which neither of us wanted. This was poor judgment on the restaurant's part. I would not have made this reservation had I been properly informed.
Went for breakfast. It was outstanding!
We made reservations for Christmas dinner because their Mother's Day buffet was excellent. Unfortunately, they had no special menu before 5pm and anything special was not available when we arrived at 2pm. We ended up with Steak Frites and Caesar Salad. The food was good, the server accommodating, but the appetizers were greatly reduced in size from previous visits. We made lemonade out of lemons, but we were disappointed.
It was great! Service was awesome!
Great food, service, and ambiance. It was what we were looking for.
Went for Thanksgiving Buffet with family. Buffet selection provided something for everyone to enjoy. Quite possibly the best Turkey Gravy I've every had. Service top notch, friendly and professional. Chef came to our table to ask about our dinner, nice touch. Highly recommend Arterra for any holiday occasion.
The salmon was excellent and so was Casey's service.
Ten years ago was a completely deference, great service, newer place, good food.... I had a good memories there.. Now place is bit up, food is horrabale, service is ok.. But I had a lunch for two paid $100 with no alcohol just bottle of water, one salat and two main dishes. Not worse it.. Sorry! Big dissapoiment.
I feel like this is Del Mar’s best kept secret. The food was amazing. The service was awesome. The ambiance was outstanding. Why isn’t this place over capacity every night??? Works for me though as I know I’ll always get reservations!
I was greeted with a big smile by the hostess as I walked into the restaurant. The staff were attentive to the questions I asked about parking validation. Upon being seated, water with lemon was promptly brought to the table. The menu consisted of a wonderful selection of lunch items. I had the California roll which was very nice. My guest had the fish tacos and seemed very pleased. Our wait staff was conscientious of our desire to talk and catch up before approaching our table to ask for our order.
Seated for 27 minutes without even receiving a drink. Terrible service & place wasn’t even remotely busy.
This is my third, and last, visit to Arterra.
Whether I sit at the bar and order dinner, or sit outside and order dinner, the service is abysmal.
Sundays are the very worst. There is no one to greet you, so making a reservation is pointless.
Also, they offer a very limited menu, and are horribly understaffed, so you will have to wait... a long time... for everything...
Enjoyable and the food and service were excellent.
My husband and I had a terrible experience. The service was slow all around with many customers complaining. When we finally received our crab cake appetizer, it was frozen. We left directly after.
It was very hot in the restaurant and it smelled like old fish, so I didn’t dare order the sushi. The servers were nice and friendly but incredibly slow. I’d never go back.
We were at Arterra on a slow evening. Not loud and very pleasant. Service was good. The menu was sparse but the food was very tasty.
Food was good-not as great as previous visits. My shrimp risotto had one overcooked shrimp and the risotto was a little too thick for my tastes. The sushi rolls were very well presented and generous. Service was very good, attentive and warm. The quiet ambiance was perfect for our 50+years ears.
The dish I ordered was scallops. I do not eat meat.
It did not say there was any meet on the dish at all on the menu. I got it in after a few bites I realize there is pancetta in it. It took about 25 minutes for me to even get the attention of my server so I was just sitting there grossed out and hungry because I don’t eat red meat at all or pork. So apparently she told me she had to argue with the cooks that it wasn’t my fault because it wasn’t on the menu which should’ve been an argument with them or she should’ve told me it was if it were. They said they make the same dish for me but I didn’t want it then because when you’re a vegetarian something like that happens it grosses you out so I ended up having a salad and a shrimp cocktail. I think coming to this restaurant since you guys opened and was really disappointed this time in the experience and don’t think I’ll come again frankly
Salad served not what was ordered. Filet was very salty.
The hotel is under rehab. I hope the kitchen finds new dinner china to replace the black and grey which are not attractive in serving food.
Food was very good as was the atmosphere and the service.
Went for Mother’s day (as like for last year) and always good food choices for the brunch buffet. We love how although there are a lot of people, it doesn’t have that chaotic ambience or loud blaring music going on. We used to go to RB Inn Aragon room for Mother’s day in years past, but this one has a better atmosphere, food is just as great, half the price and you don’t have to walk a mile or take a golf cart to get to it. We also come here just for dinner and the food is great as well.
Didn't realize that this restaurant was part of a hotel. The ambience is similar to a cafeteria. Hard surfaces everywhere give the room an empty and hollow sound and the decor would feel right at home in the early 90's. To be fair, the service was decent and so was the sushi, although neither were anything special.
Entrees were not the best. Medium steak was over cooked, shrimps were fishy. Apps and chocolate cake were good though.
A great dining experience here. Had sushi and drinks. Everything was superb and service was really good. We didn't feel rushed. Would recommend.
The food was amazing! I had the salmon and my date had the burger(which I had a bite of), both very very good! For desert we had the fresh baked cookie with a scoop of ice cream on top, big enough to share! I would recommend this place to friends and family!
The Sishi is as good as you will find. My daughter is on restricted diet and the kitchen was able to accommodate all our requests. Best dinner we have had in a long time!
Menu was disappointing. Over priced for what we received.
Great sandwich, great waiter.
We loved sitting outside by the pool. The food and service was excellent.
Very good for a hotel restaurant. Totally expected at a Marriott. Wait staff was very good and they seem to share duties. Food was also very good.
Nice restaurant in the Marriott Hotel with great lobster rolls! Service was superb!
It was freezing in there
I hate tv’s going while I’m dining
The black cod was way tooo sugary
They brought me a blanket that was a bed blanket for my lap
But it was my nose and fingers that were cold
