Arterra is putting itself back on the map with a new chef, innovative menu, exciting events and plenty of music. Diners are invited to travel around the globe one bite at a time with newly appointed Executive Chef Evan Cruz’s new menu, inspired by his expeditions around the globe and ample experience in San Diego and beyond.
Behind the sushi bar, Chef Andrew Hoh continues to create signature rolls such as his fresh Albino Roll and decadent Scrumptious Roll which combine the eclectic flavors of Southern California, a technique he is known for, while inventing new rolls on the spot to diners’ delight.
In addition to their new menus, Arterra has rolled out a new craft cocktail program starting with a new bourbon menu featuring a selection of premium, handcrafted bourbons, bourbon infused cocktails and bourbon flights of small batch, single barrel, grain, age and distillery bourbons. Arterra Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food. I had a New York steak that came paired with braised beef cheeks and yukon gold potatoes au gratin. Delicious! This is an excellent chef, and the food here is really, really good. Its in the Marriott, and it does feel like a hotel restaurant, but they are remodelling it in late 2017. If you are looking for great food, this place is worth going to.
Waited 15 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation through Open Table. Once seated, we waited another 15 minutes for our draft beers, which were flat and needed to be replaced with bottled beer. We got some bread and butter about 20 minutes after the bread. The food cam about 15 minutes later and both dishes were not good at all. The pasta was undercooked and the risotto was overcooked. Each of us took only a few bites and ended up not even taking it home. Overall a bad experience.
Arterra has become our Wednesday night meeting place. The food is so good that we have tried almost every item! I especially love the salmon entree and the way it is served. My husband alternates between the sushi choices and the regular menu--there are so many terrific options.
The service is superior from the hostess to the servers to the bussers. The chefs are so creative that they change the menu with the seasons to offer the best ingredients and create even more choices. The desserts are divine! My favorite is the chocolate silk bombe.
I was at Arterra 6 years ago and was amazed. So when I saw that they were doing a Thanksgiving Brunch this year (2016), I was expecting a great experience. It was not good at all. The booths and chairs are scarred and soiled. They have throw pillows in the booths because you have to sit on them to keep from sinking into the worn out cushions. I literally felt like I had to climb out to get out. The Thanksgiving brunch was a buffet, and we know that you need to expect chafer food but there was very limited selection. It seemed that they were all about the meat which was good and plentiful. We do not feel that the experience was worth the $49 price. The restaurant never got crowded, so it was not a popular destination on this eating holiday. We won't go back.
Table of four ordered three filet mignon dinners and one fish dinner. The steak dinners all got sent back because they were served cold and mushy. When it was redelivered, same situation and the vegetables and sauce were tasteless. we sent it back again and refused further service. This used to be a fabulous restaurant; I can't believe what's happened to it.
We were seated to have a view, but the only view was of the freeway. The appitizer was wonderful and the Bibb salad had the best flavor! Unfortunatly, the wait for our main meal was at least 45 minutes and it was served to us cold. The shirmp on the risoto was overcooked and the risoto had the worst flavor. The fish my husband got was ok but cold. We were so dissapointed in the main dish, it was not at all worth the 125.00 we were charged for the meal.
Food we had recently - the roast chicken and steak were out of the park
Exceptional food - some of the best dining we've done in a while
Service also very good
We sat too close to the bar so it was a bit noisy -
The food was awesome -
We will be going back soon !
