Escaped the midtown din for an enjoyable dinner at Arte. A cozy, intimate date nite with private conversation time! And terrific food- specials and pasta, service and a mini wine tasting to get us the perfect bottle. Adds up to we want to return!
ARTE Never fails. Classic Italian. Great atmosphere, service, selections.
Wonderful food each dish cooked perfectly reasonably priced wines. Great to see old school Italian food served perfectly in a family owned old school Italian Restarant. Reminds me so much of my youth when there were so many great family owned neighborhood Italian restaurant. Great place. We love it there
My boss recommended this place to me a while ago and I just happen to book it unknowingly it was the same place. The food was excellent. The service was good. We had a very traditional old fashion Italian waiter who waited on us. We would definitely come back again. Thank you.
For fabulous authentic special Italian food, this is the place. Food prepared their way or yours. Beautiful decor. Wonderful service. Well worth the price for amazing food.
This is an old-fashioned Italian restaurant at it's best. The decor is warm and inviting with a fire in the fireplace, white tablecloths, and exceptionally attentive service by friendly waitstaff. Food is very good. All this for a moderately priced menu.
Another wonderful evening of food and drink (as usual).
We love Arte for it’s comfortable and reliable, traditional Italian fare. And the noise level is good.
As usual the food and service were great. My favorite place.
It is one of the few neighborhood restaurants that doesn't blast you with loud music. It is quiet and civilized and one can actually hear one's dinner companions. The ambience is lovely, too. That said, the food is average and overpriced for what it is. Nevertheless, if you want a place where you can talk, it's fine.
Excellent meal. Beautiful!! Two fireplaces and a garden in the back in nice weather. Service was attentive and friendly.
Back almost 20 years later and it’s still fabulous! Great Service & ambiance
Delicious!! Cozy atmopshere
Great place - comfortable space and wonderful Italian cuisine
Service friendly and efficient
Food was absolutely delicious. We had pastas, steak, salad & bruschetta & it was all amazing. We will definitely be back!
They have to take care of their Cheff and the kind of food they are serving, too fancy and expensive to have such food quality.
service, food ,atmosphere ... all good
a bit out of the way but worth going
dinner time may be very busy, so do make reservation
wine collection needs to be developed
some italian restaurants do have better bred assortment
I've been going to Arte with some regularity for almost 30 years - wonderful neighborhood place - a bit old fashioned but warm, friendly, excellent food and wine.
We have eaten at Arte twice before and have enjoyed the food and service. However, our most recent visit for a family dinner was a big disappointment. The service was bad, we had to wait over an hour to be served, and received multiple mixed signals from the wait staff regarding the availability of the food we ordered. It is quite expensive for a mediocre neighborhood restaurant
Good food. Very slow service. Noisy. Very difficult to understand the waiter describing the specials as he had a very heavy accent.
Greenwich Village has a lot of good restaurants but Arte is a special standout. The service, food & ambience are consistently excellent & never disappoint. We have been coming here for years on average once a week which speaks to the quality of their offering. Friends are always impressed by the service, food & ambience particularly in Autumn/Winter when the 2 open hearth fires are in operation.
My friend and I appreciated our delicious candlelit dinner, enthusiasm and attentive wait service and manager Martino's ever present warmth and hospitality that sets the tone for this charming and sophisticated Village restaurant .
Our favorite Italian restaurant in the Greenwich Village area. Comfortable space, efficient and friendly service, and very good food. Whole branzino deboned tableside is one of our favorites.
Delicious meal! The chicken special was great as were all the pastas. Friends visiting look forward to coming back.
Overall I had a good experience. We were (a party 0f 4) there with a Groupon. As soon as the groupon was presented I felt that the service suffered. I know in some establishments the customer will reduce their tip commiserate with the groupon discount on the meal. That however is not how I treat the staff. It is to bad that once again the actions of the few (cheapskates) results in the poor treatment of others.
Lobster bisque and linguini with clam sauce were both too salty. Asparagus was good. Table bread was very average. The people were nice. Food was disappointing.
Hadn't been to Arte in a while and forgot how good it is! The restaurant was busy so we dined slowly and a bit noisy but the food was well prepared and delicious!
This was our third visit and we were equally happy. The wine list is ample. The red snapper is divine. The wait staff is helpful, very pleasant, and know when to be available and when to respect our privacy. It was a leisurely, lovely lunch. The tartuffo is out of this world delicious. We were four of us, and were able to have a long chatty meal. There was very quiet music in the background, which set a nice mood but never interfered with our conversation. This is a pretty setting, both indoors and outdoors in their garden. We are looking forward to another visit!
This is a real hidden gem! Great for locals and out of town guests as well. It's become my go to place. Staff is perfection and the food amazing.
Traditional Northern Italian fare - delicious, great selection, great service and comfortable acoustics.
Most everything was very pleasant and the food was delicious and plentiful.
This is my favorite neighborhood restaurant and I've been eating here for 25 years. The food is fairly traditional but always good and the servers, some of whom have been there forever, are friendly and efficient. The noise level is almost always very reasonable and the ambience is kind of old world.
Great restaurant. Took clients and was very happy with food and service. Great wine list also.
Solid waitstaff, but the front of house host/greeter that provided the menu specials for the day was not the nicest. He appeared to be bored with my decision making regarding the specials that he spewed out so quickly that I couldn't recall. The food was fine. I left 18%. It wasn't anything to write home about while an out of towner. I have to say if the greeter was remotely nice, I would have had a better experience. The fact that he didn't even check back to see if everything was okay (empty that evening) with my meal, or say goodbye as he WATCHED me leave from the bar, really sealed my experience in an otherwise romantic venue. As they say, we don't forget how someone or an experience makes us feel.. and in this case, I felt unwanted. Would have gladly taken my money elsewhere had I not ordered already. Too many other Italian eateries in NY that provide better experiences, like Giggno Trattoria near Tribeca.
The food and service was great. I highly recommend this restaurant.
As usual, my husband and I had a lovely get together lunch with two close friends. We love this restaurant. We live on the upper east side, and are happy to take a little extra time to come down to this pretty restaurant on east 9th street. The service is gracious and friendly, so we do not feel overwhelmed but feel very comfortable. I had the red snapper, which was very, very good. . My husband had the mussels, which he said were excellent, and the Dover Sole, which was brought out whole and filleted at the table. I wish I knew the secret to their fresh, perfectly prepared vegetables. The Tartuffe dessert is fantastic, and the tiramisu equally delicious (although I would take the Tartuffe, myself, any day!). We had a graciously, unpretentiously served, relaxed lunch, and look forward to returning soon.
Wonderful neighborhood gem! We try to get to the village when we can and probably eat here a few times a year. My favorite place in the village. Excellent food! Have been going here for more than 20 years. It is a restaurant that has stood the test of time!!
Great restaurant. Our favorite.
