ArtBar Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I have had brunch/lunch at Art Bar on numerous occassions and have always found the food delicious, the ambiance relaxing, and the service excellent. I highly recommend “Texas in Cambridge” from the brunch menu and my wife has great things to say about the salads. We especially enjoy the patio during any of the warm months from spring through fall.
One of the few places where you can sit right on the water at this part it is the river beautiful view of the Boston skyline, boats the science museum. Indoor or outdoor dining ...both has views. very nice selection of Boston favorites salads and a good cocktail list. Only downside is when they do validate for parking is still going to cost you $15.
Had a higher expectation about this place. The overall ambiance was good, not a fancy place, not too simple either. Our waiter was quite nice and very attentive.
However, the food is below the expected standard for a place like that. Menu is limited and choices are quite unsophisticated, plain I might say. Food wasn't bad , but definitively not remarkable. Shrimp cocktail was on the skinny side and lacking taste for what we expected. Blackened fish tacos were subpar and I would think that the cook was sort of tired for the day since the garnishes were massive chunks as it came from the ground, plus a taco without cilantro is simply not a taco... it was a good piece of fish in between two small tortillas, but hardly a taco.
Drinks were also ok, not worth a second trip to try. SIgnature cocktail was 'meh', slightly pretentious as in trying multiple flavors to practically cancel themselves...
Would I go again? maybe, for some beers and a great view of the Charles River.
Service was great. We ordered lobster bisque, not only was it nasty, it was entirely to thick and the wrong color. My mother sampled and instantly sent back. The lobster rolls have a bigger piece of lettuce than lobster. and the lobster wasn't fresh. I was very chewy. Never again. A waste of my $73
This restaurant is a part of a hotel and it kind of feels that way. We had a nice time, the service was good, and the view is great, but I don't think I would go out of my way to go. We went because we were staying in the hotel. For that purpose it was great! Then again, we are vegetarians and while we were very happy to see options there for us, I generally seek out places that have more than a few options for me. Folks looking for seafood might have a different opinion.
We came here for a birthday celebration. Overall, this was an awful choice and nothing we ordered came out correctly.
The meal start off with our appetizer (corn dogs) being served with long (human) hairs tangled in the food. We were assured that this would be free of charge and another plate would be out shortly. Next, we received the 'pickles n' dip', which came without any pickles to dip in the hummus. At this point it's been 20 minutes since our first appetizer was taken and we still haven't received a replacement.
We ordered a burger cooked medium with a side of sweet potato tots. 20 minutes later the burger was served with the wrong side. Our waitress took the whole plate to switch the fries. She came back 10 minutes later with the same plate and told us to eat that burger and she would send out a separate side with the sweet potato tots. The burger was cooked rare, not medium, so only half was eaten. At this point we asked for the manager. In the meantime, the sweet potato tots came out, but did not come with the garlic aioli sauce it was supposed to have.
The manager came over and we explained how each dish we ordered was incorrect in some way. She promised us the meal was free of charge (although we didn't eat anything we were served). They came out with some free dessert for us.
After eating the dessert, we still had not received our first appetizer. As we left, the garlic aioli finally came for the sweet potato tots.
Bad food, service was poor.
Chose this location for the view, and it delivered with patio seating on the river featuring views of the Museum of Science and the Boston skyline. Live acoustic music, very pleasant on a summer Sunday. Brunch menu reasonably priced, with a good lobster roll and outstanding burger in addition to eggs Benedict. Would definitely visit again.
I searched for a dinner with skyline view - ArtBar hit the mark! Easy to make reservations -
we had a party of 6 on a Monday night - and surprise bonus, there was live Jazz. Popular cuisine with quality ingredients - everyone enjoyed their meal of choice. The calamari and hummus plates for apps were top notch (I try these apps almost everywhere! whole crispy chickpeas on the hummus were a nice touch) Great atmosphere, amazing view, cool hotel restaurant.
We love to go to the Art Bar around sunset, the view of the Boston skyline is spectacular, and the Art Bar is perfectly suited to see the reflections of the sky on the John Hancock and other buildings.
The crab cake was very good, as well as the lamb burger. The staff were very attentive.
Met friends on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Sat outside and ordered snack foods and drinks. Wonderful server. He was attentive to all our needs. Able to converse across the table. Food was quite good and nice selection of wines. One friend ordered a Bloody Mary...quite the bloody mary ordeal for the true aficionado . Definitely would recommend!
A pleasant evening dining inside, but I was disappointed it was raining so we couldn't eat on the patio. Menu has something for everyone at prices not typical in a hotel. Lamb burger w sweet potato tots & fish tacos both under $20. Server seemed a little rushed at first even though we sat at 5:30.
Was very disappointed from time of reservation
Special occasion. Wanted dinner. They didnt have reservations for dinner that night. Private function. Made lunch res. Wanted to sit outside. No reservations allowed for outside. Ate insude as a result. Very noisey space. Only one table had view of the river. Dark atmosphere inside. Ambience disappointing. Food was better than Verage, but not great.
Waitress , edneina?, was best part of the meal. She was super.
I won't return to this place.
Better than I expected! With few choices to choose from in that area for lunch before taking a Charles River Boat cruise, I wasn't expecting much. We sat inside because it was a really hot day, but the patio is fantastic overlooking the river. I'd like to go back and sit out there. We enjoyed the flatbread covered with artichokes, pesto, gruyere and kale and then I had the burger. Perfectly cooked and well-seasoned served with sweet potato tots. Delicious. If you are in the area, give it a try.
It was a beautiful sunny late afternoon in Boston. My daughter and I met after work for dinner. We had appetizers which we very good. Our waiter was very attentive even though he had a large group of business people he was waiting on. We had to wait for one of dishes because it was busy but he gave us an order of sweet potato tarter tots on the house and they were excellent! I will be back again!
We were seated right next to a door to outdoor patio with waiters rushing in and out even though place was empty. The server took our drink order as if he was in a rush without even greeting us or making eye contact. 15 min passed and no drinks. I asked a host or manager the drink status and he was very rude. Left and went next door to Dante restaurant and had a fantastic all around experience!
Artbar was a fantastic experience and I would recommend it to anyone as long as you sit outside. This is crucial. Without the fresh air, the open space, and the view of the city, the food isn't enough to overcome the uninspiring interior seating area. The lamb burger was fantastic value, not just your plain-Jane burger, and for a solid price. The lobster role was a bit small, but simple, relying on the fresh meat and not some gaudy seasoning. The drink selection was pretty average for Boston, but the outside bar was definitely a plus.
Not an easy walk-to location but worth the effort for its outdoor and river view terrace, good service and good food. We were expecting to settle for burgers but instead we made a satisfying evening of tapas and wine. But watch out for the occasional bird on the wire.
We went for Sunday brunch to celebrate our anniversary and brought our toddler. First, the service was excellent and our server was very accommodating to our young guest and brought him fruit and goldfish. I got the eggs benedict and my husband got the lamb burger and we shared the sweet potato tater tots. All of the food was delicious, especially the tots. We had the chocolate cake and creme brulee for dessert and both were excellent. We love sitting with the view of the Charles and look forward to returning for many years to come!
Went for lunch on a hot sunny day and they were not very accommodating with us to find a table that had some shade. The hostess seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. Ended up sitting inside which was fine. Ordered the hummus appetizer which was good and the Bahn Mi sandwich which I did not like at all. Everyone else I was with enjoyed their meals though. Nice for a salad or sandwich lunch on a nice day.
Requested deck seating on OpenTable reservation - failed to deliver.
Server did not take cocktail order.
Before cocktails arrive, server is asking for meal orders.
Server took 30 minutes to bring bread. Almost as long as drinks took.
Server vanished and did not return for 15 minutes after drinks delivered to take order.
Drinks were served in acrylic not glass. Very cheap.
Kitchen did a good job with the food.
Server never returned to ask how things were or to ask if we'd like another "glass" of wine.
Price for value, and quality of service were awful. I was embarrassed to have suggested ArtBar. The only attraction was the riverside seating and ArtBar failed to fulfill the request on the Open Table reservation comment for outdoor seating only. The plastic "glasses" were tacky. The server did not have a clue on proper timing for orders or taking good care of his customers.
Scratch ArtBar from any list of places to dine.
A total disappointment. Was staying at the hotel and wanted brunch. No one mentioned that only a special Mother's Day menu was available when I made the reservation or when they called to confirm. All I wanted was an omelette. Was forced to eat a 3 course meal for $50. To get eggs I had to order off the kids menu but pay the adult price. They tried to sit us in the back room with all the screaming kiddies even though I had specifically asked not be seated near families with young children (we were 3 adults) and the main room was more than 50% empty. Food was average. "Breakfast potatoes" were fried frozen hash browns that I could buy 2 lbs for 2 dollars at the grocery store. If you actually care about your diet, don't eat here. Too much sugar and carbs and not enough healthy options.
We went to ArtBar for a place to eat before attending the Science Museum. It served that purpose well; the food was good, not too expensive, friendly staff. We found it awkward to get to, being a part of the Royal Sonesta hotel. It was an okay experience, but we probably would not go back again.
