Food was ok, typical hotel restaurant food. I tried the spicy crab roll for app, it had to much rice. The crab and cucumber inside the roll was non existent. For dinner I had a steak with a side of potato fries. The steak was well done (I asked for med rare) but it tasted ok. There was so much potato fries and they had no seasoning, so I didn't eat more than one. They do have a nice selection of drinks. I would stop in for drinks but not the food.
The place looks a little seedy, could use a makeover. Also the tables were a little smallish & exposed. Food was great though, service was nice, if a little slow...
Was very concerned when I arrived and found, this restaurant is in the lobby of the Sonesta hotel. Once getting past this, I found the food and staff were excellent!
I came to ArtBar thinking it would be a special dining experience. Instead, it seemed to be just another bar in a hotel. I couldn't even find anyone to check in with when I first got there. The bartender did not even know that they accepted Open Table reservations.
They were busy that night with a group from the hotel, so my order took a very long time. By the time my seared Tuna got to me, it was a little tough.
Overall the food was pretty good, so I did enjoy it, but it is important to know what to expect. It is not really a restaurant. Just know that you are going for a typical hotel bar food experience.
Typical hotel restaurant (Sonesta), good burgers, good atmosphere.
Took a chance on Art Bar because of previously fantastic dining at a Sonesta resort in Hilton Head. Art Bar is located in lobby of Sonesta near Atlanta. Did not need reservation as were told to sit anywhere we wanted. We would have had a pleasant enough experience if we had just had drinks and appetizer which were very good. Dinner however was not...order very tardy , ribs dry and overcooked, cut of steak for $36 dollars horrible, even trout seemed overcooked.....both waitress and manager half heartedly apologized for poor presentation due to big event going on somewhere in facility but no comp or even dessert offered. Expensive for the lack of quality and experience we had..enough so as I would not ever try again.
The staff are dedicated hard workers. They were able to seamlessly accommodate my party of 25 plus with great attention to detail. Food was good especially the bread pudding sundae!
Heading to downtown Duluth for Saturday night concert. Most restaurants all booked up. Tried ArtBar and we were pleasantly surprised. It is located in main lobby of hotel and I wish we would have known beforehand. Would have made finding it easier. Place was pretty quiet but service was good and we enjoyed our selections. I would go back for happy hour to see how the bar vibe is.
If you are looking for a place with great food, check out Kaets Steakhouse at Sonesta Gwinnett Place. From the Creamy Collards to the Banana Foster Fried Pie, everything was simply delightful! The staff was professional, courtesy and friendly. They help make the dining experience memorable. I love how they list where they get their products from and even have their own herb garden that they use!
Only one other table in restaurant the whole time we were there so very quiet. Small menu selection but everything was good.
I chose this restaurant because it was Gwinnett Restaurant Week and it was an opportunity to try the food. We ordered an appetizer that had grits and was fabulous! The Carolina fish was okay. The Coconut Cake was mediocre and firm. They added 18% gratuity to my check for a party of 2 then charged an additional 20% gratuity on top of that. When I called about the cahrge, I was told that they do that to ensure funds are available in the event that I want to leave extra money for the tip. That means that automatically charged an additional 38% on my bill for a party of 2. The additional 20% was removed once the charge cleared however, as a result, I will never go there again.
Almost a year ago I gave this place a 5 and had high hopes for it. There isn't much around for a good steak dinner in a setting fit for business. It is still quiet but that's about all. Mediocre steaks, clearly Choice - not Prime - I turn out better on my home low temp grill. A big miss for a place that uses Steak reversed for its name. Mushroom ragout lacked any depth of flavor - some one skimped on the browning. The truffle fries - a hit a year ago - were again rushed. Didn't appear to have been double fried - or had been sitting a very long time. The truffle flavor was distinctly missing.
Tried to get after dinner espressos but the machine had been turned off and apparently no one could turn it back on.
Found Kaets on Open Table, and so glad I did. Everything was delicious, especially the ribeye. Outstanding service as well.
Kaets was chosen because of the reviews, but I can honestly say that the reviews weren't accurate. The service was awful, the waiter had the worse attitude abd treated us as thoughWe were bothering him when we had questions about the menu. He never came to check on us or ask how we were doing at all. Even when we requested more bread for our table of 10+ he brought us an empty basket so we're could share. The food was Either undercooked or over cooked. There were only two people at the table who enjoyed their meal. When we tried you address the food and service the manager was dismissive and cavalier. Even though they were notified it was my aunt's birthday they made no effort to even ensure a pleasurable experience.
The place is small and cozy. We ordered from the set menu for this occasion. I had the petite filet with over smashed new potatos with wild morel sauce. Steak was cooked to order and wonderful. The sauce was a little on the salty side. My SO had salmon over rissoto and asparagus, her portion was huge with great flavor. We both had the crab appetizer and then salad. She also had a corn bisque that was very good. Bread and butter were offered. A dessert platter and a bottle of wine. The cost was 90.00 plus an 18% gratuity. I felt the evening was well worth the money. We will go back to try there regular menu.
Very overpriced. The prime rib was very fatty, and 6 very small shrimp in an $11.00 shrimp cocktail.
Located inside the Sonesta Hotel in Gwinnett County, Kaets is a suburban jewel offering cuisine and atmosphere that we usually only find in the city. The atmosphere was quiet and pleasant making it a perfect spot to dine with friends on a Saturday night. The menu is small but all the dishes are wonderful. Try the Brasstown Beef selections. The Seered Beef Tenders cut with a fork and taste wonderful. The desserts were so-so. The servers were attentive and we never felt rushed.
Very up scale ambiance. Table settings/lighting made you feel relaxed. The steaks were prepared exactly as ordered, absolutely delicious. I don't think many people know about this place yet so I recommend trying it out this holiday season while they are not busy.
Go to another place and don't waste your time!!!! I like the restaurant. But, the food/menu needs more to choose from and what they have needs improvement.
This restaurant has great potential. But, needs help in all areas if they plan to stay open!
Superb menu, with a good variety of food choices; food was well prepared, served with style; great quality and served hot. I will definitely return.
Food was pretty good, especially the crab cake and fried green tomato appetizer. I think the restaurant could stand to make some minor improvements in how it provides service to its customers. There was 1 waiter servicing the restaurant at the time I was there and we seemed to wait forever while server was in kitchen. I couldn't help but notice the hostess and a manager standing around and talking while 3 to 4 tables waited for our 1 server to balance their needs. This went on for the entire 2 hours we were there. Had the hostess, who did not seat anyone the entire time we were there, actually refilled a glass or asked any of the 4 tables if they needed anything, imagine what a much better experience that would be.
Excellent replacement for the old JW Marriott. Excellent locally focused menu - locally sourced beef, cooked perfectly. We had a rare and a medium and both met specs. - in house cured bacon - nice variations on old favorites. wedge salad was a romaine wedge - house cured bacon - crumbles from the Prime rib added crunch.
This restaurant was a surprise for us, living in Gwinnett for many years and never having been. The ambiance and decor created a beautiful dining room, and the service was very good, although our waiter seemed to be the only one serving the night we went. The food was good and well presented, but would've liked more choices in the "healthy vegetable" category, i.e. more green stuff. All in all, we enjoyed the experience and would go back since it's fine dining in a multi-ethnic area of Gwinnett.
Very nice place, but awful MUZAK. Very chilly. Our waiter offered us a table further from the A/C vent, but it was still uncomfortable. I had the trout. Overall the dish was good, but the trout itself was a little fishy. My wife had the vegetarian portabella dish, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Sides are a la carte, which will raise your bill. And the only vegetable on the menu is creamed collards. Would like to see some grilled or roasted veggies. We ordered a side of marinated mushrooms. It was a large serving, and they were pretty good, but were served lukewarm. Our waiter apologized and said he'd tell the kitchen, but did not offer to correct the problem. Chalking it all up to growing pains. We'll give it 6 months or so and try it again.
The natural beef was a nice treat to Gwinnett, but it was over cooked. The wine selection was limited. Service is great and friendly. Overall its just ok.
The Food and Service were wonderful.
My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our Valentine's Day dinner at JW's Steakhouse. The wine, entrees, and dessert were prepared perfectly. Also, the team work was exceptional, and everyone was friendly. The atmosphere was fitting for the occassion. We will certainly return if in the area again.
The steaks are of the highest quality, the other food is excellent as well, and the service is polite and attentive. Very tastefully decorated, although the tastefulness is also a little off-putting: i wouldn't walk in here wearing jeans, and i might even wonder if i should wear a tie or a jacket.
The food was bad, the service was horrible!
Good food expensive and service alright but slow.
In the Marriott Hotel lobby area. Very friendly staff. Price reasonable as noted in their profile.
Went there for fathers day and had the whole place to ourselves. Kind of nice to have that but sad.
Food was very good but the service wasn't very good at all - quite unorganized and slow. Staff was very nice but needs better coordination.
too expensive compared to other high end restaurants, but no waiting on Feb.14th !
the service is a little slow. but overall we enjoyed ourselves.
Outrageously overpriced. Food is bland.
The food was good, the service was awesome, prices were high and the place was empty which helped our server to be as great as she was I am sure. Maybe because of location it doesn’t get much attention but the chef rocked on the meal!!
A Medium Well Stake was dry and not a bit of pink inside. The salad was wilted as if it were sitting out for some time. The manager did reduce the check by $5. after I made my bad comments. It took a good fifteen minutes to receive our check after we requested.
I will not visit JW's again.
Steak entree and Salmon entree were excellent. Unfortunately, we had some issue with management on the use of the Open Table Certificate on December 31st, 2011. There were no restrictions regarding dates or holidays on the Certificate. They took issue with the fact it was New Years Eve. However, New Years Eve is not an Federal or State holiday. Eventually the use was authorized. Again I do emphasis that the food was quite good. When looking for an excellent steak cooked to order I would consider returning.
