About Arroyo Chop House
A modern take on the classic American steakhouse, Arroyo Chop House is one of only a few restaurants in Southern California that serves exclusively USDA Prime beef. This strikingly handsome restaurant, inspired by the Arts & Crafts architectural style for which Pasadena is famous, is clad in rich mahogany and the cozy booths are bathed in seductive light.
Our steaks are aged and hand cut daily and then perfectly seared in a 1,500 degree oven. Traditional steakhouse side dishes include creamed spinach, baked potatoes, asparagus spears with hollandaise sauce, and Arroyo Chop House's famous onion rings. We also offer live Maine lobster and fresh fish, Alaskan King Crab legs, fresh oysters, and shrimp. Compliment your meal with a bottle from our award-winning wine list and finish the night with one of our delicious desserts such as a Grand Marnier soufflé, warm apple pie, butterscotch pudding or chocolate pecan pie.

Arroyo Chop House Ratings and Reviews
The service and ambiance were great. The specialty cocktails were wonderful. The food was nicely presented and seasoned. However, I’m disappointed to say the filet had a bit of silver skin and sinew. 2 of us had it, and we both got steaks like that. Also, there were crab shells in the Oscar style.
The waiter was very gracious and attentive, and he removed the Oscar style charge from the bill because of the shells.
With so many incredible steak houses in SoCal, the steak has to be perfect, and I’m afraid this was an 8.5 or a 9. I would go back to try the wagyu ribeye sometime, but, sadly, Arroyo won’t be my first choice for a great everyday steak.
Not impressive. Food was mediocre and my fish was grossly over cooked. Service was slow. We stated in reservation that we were celebrating a birthday (the reservation form asked if you were celebrating anything so they can "make it special") and they even mentioned it when they called to confirm, yet still sat us at a back corner table and never mentioned the birthday celebration the whole night. We ordered off the Dine LA menu and the waiter did not inform us of the extra charge for dessert. Terrible service.
Overall great experience. However, our children and another adult both wanted French Fries as a side dish expecting the portion size to be in line with all the other sides you offer. When each side was roughly the size of an entire bag of potatoes, we were a little disappointed that the server did not mention the portion size to us when we ordered. His recommendation was to take the extra home. We did not, we sent them back to the kitchen to be discarded.
Our favorite steak house in LA! Prime aged meat, excellent selection of side dishes, fresh seafood and amazing desserts including their famous souffles and butterscotch pudding. The ACH is always consistent, with an extensive wine list and very professional, attentive service. You can't go wrong at the ACH.
ACH is know for steaks, specifically USDA Prime steaks. Yes, the food was good. The service was good. The room we were in was a little noisy due to it’s an open area. Is it worth the price? I think there are other places where you can get more bang for your dollar. I would recommend trying it once and that’s yet. The steaks were pricey and everything is a la cart including the bread and dipping sauces for the steak. If you haven’t been, just be prepared to be nickel and dime for everything.
The service from entrance to exit was exceptional. Although compensated to a tasting glass price for the inconvenience, the waiter did forget to bring our orders for glasses of wine until mentioned. We ordered bread pudding for dessert, despite being stuffed from the main dinner. The dessert was brought out with a scoop each of strawberry ice cream and chocolate ic cream because they ran out of vanilla ice cream. We declined the waiter's offer to run to Parkway Grille to get some vanilla ice cream, but maybe it could have been mentioned upon ordering and not upon serving the order.
Our experience was very good for a New Year's Eve celebration. Our poor waitress, Lauren, was charming, cheerful, and very accommodating but definitely overworked... she needed extra help for NY's Eve!! She tried her best but we had to wait awhile for drinks & the check. We loved our table... and we could see through the window that the band was having difficulty with their sound system and they only played a few songs while we were there.
Our table had a good time.
Wonderful birthday dinner for our daughter. Food and service are excellent. Great interior and cocktails are terrific. Food was expertly prepared. This is a chop house-so meat is the big item on the menu. Lamb and Veal chops were perfect. Filets were, too. Really enjoyed the jalapeno corn souffle side dish.
Wonderful evening all around.
Be warned, this is not a discount place. You get quality but you pay for it.
Christmas eve dinner with my boyfriend was amazing. Thomas is our favorite server at this restaurant. He’s friendly helpful and we really appreciate all his recommendations. This is my boyfriend’s favorite restaurant. Mike the bartender is awesome as well. We dine there often. This is definitely by far our favorite restaurant.
WE planned a special Xmas Eve dinner at the Chophouse. I made reservations in early October, because I know that Dec 24 is a popular time. We waited 45 minutes to be seated, and that totally wiped away the otherwise good feelings we had - great food and excellent service.
Forty-five minutes wait for a reservation is simply too long, period. Wee have been fans of Smith Bros restaurants for well over thirty years - but no more. There are simply too many other places to go where your reservations are taken seriously.
Went this past Christmas Eve for dinner with my husband, children and parents. They overcooked my father’s steak and undercooked my mother’s. When we said something they said they would take my father’s steak off the bill. Then while my boys were eating their chocolate soufflé, my older son pulled a long hair out of it. Gross!! Just for the record, my mom and I have short hair. This things was long! Again we had to say something and again they took it off the bill. While the service was excellent, the fact that we had to complain about three items was a disappointment. Especially when you are spending $600 on dinner for six
The Cowboy ribeye steak was excellent! All the other trimmings offered a la carte were mediocre.
The service was not very good. We had to wait for a table even though we had a reservation, while walk-ins were seated before or at the same time we were.
My favorite steak house was consistently Mastro's, however on a recent Thanksgiving dinner, I was very disappointed with the quality of their steaks. All the other trimmings offered are superb, including the short bread dessert.
If you desire steak, and nothing else, the Arroyo Chop House is the place.
This has been our go-to restaurant for special occasions for years and has never disappointed. The beef, seafood and fish are consistently top-notch and perfectly prepared. On a busy holiday weekend evening, our waiter was attentive, maintained a droll sense of humor throughout, and even went the extra mile. We love sharing this restaurant with friends!
In for a business lunch. Wanted to take advantage of the special lunch days during the holidays. Always a classy place for dinner and lunch was no different. Seated our group in the bar area. Attentive service from our server plus we had Victor at the bar to help out when needed. Top notch staff at the Arroyo Chop House.....nice work by all. We’ll be back.
Everyone's steak was tender, deeply flavorful and cooked perfectly. The sides (lobster mash, spicy corn mac, mushrooms and asparagus) were well prepared and complemented the steak. Service was high level and spot on; waiter was knowledgeable, helpful and efficient. Fantastic experience.
We adore the Chophouse. We have been dining here for over 20 years for very special occasions. We have had a favorite waiter (Blair) and he is now like family! The food, ambiance and serve is top notch,, it is always an evening we look forward to and we're never let down! Next celebration ...February!
My husband has been raving about this place since I met him. Eight years later we go with clients and we received warm white wine, lukewarm steak, our empty dishes sat for 25 minutes before being cleared after dinner, and we were seated practically in the piano player's lap. Just really terrible service for an extremely expensive meal. The restaurant is beautifully decorated for the holidays and there was an attentive waitress who tried to help us and talk to the manager since our waiter was so lacking but the manager never came over to check on us. Really disappointing experience at a place I've been looking forward to trying for a long time.
