Service was exceptional, very friendly and helpful waitstaff. We thought that the serving sizes were generous and the food was very good. My "steak and potatoes" was over-salted and my husband's couscous was a little dry, hence my 4 star rating. I like their commitment to using locally grown ingredients when they can.
Best restaurant in the Methow Valley! The seasonal dishes and menu changes are always local, fresh, creative and DELICIOUS!
Top notch gourmet, as good as any fancy dining in Seattle. Service, presentation and menu was very good. Highly recommend. DELISH!
Our go-to place in Winthrop for a wonderful meal with fantastic service! It has never failed to provide a good time. On a spur of the moment evening out we even enjoy sitting in the bar and eating.
Wonderful food and ambiance! Desserts are delicious!
Overly peppered food, under-cooked skin was left in the chicken, a waitress pulled down our window shade without getting our input, bland desserts. Expected more for the upscale prices and former favorable reviews.
Great meal. Excellent service. Best food in the valley.
Nice meal. Great service. A quiet night. Local ingredients. Appetizers:green salad, crab cakes, & brussel sprouts all superb. Entrees: a little less exciting. Not great selections although locally sourced food. The chicken was expensive and earthy tasting, but lacked the complexity of flavors and design of the appetizers. Steak was good, but steamed carrots and whipped potatoes also seemed very uninspired compliments for a $30 entree item. I really think there needs to be more variety and inspiration in their dinner entrees. The wine list is all WA selections which is a let down for me. In my opinion that’s fine if you have 3-5 wines, but anextensive wine list deserves more offerings. I believe they should have some Old World selections too. The bar menu is good and more affordable.
I had fish with mushrooms on top of sautéed greens and puréed yams. Fantastic!!!! Dessert......chocolate tart with hazelnuts on top.....YUM.
Great time and amazing food. Probably best I’ve had at Arrowleaf since coming here years ago. Waygu Steak was insane.
Consistently excellent experience over my 6 visits. Best on the shoulder seasons (Fall and Spring) when you can reserve a table easily. Reasonable prices for the quality and quantity of well crafted fare. Beautiful platings and seamless hospitality.
To be quite honest with you I didn’t have any expectations going in. I felt our server was quite knowledgeable of the menu and wine list. One thing i enjoy is when my food is served hot.And you accomplished that .We we’re served promptly and courteously .The food portions were hardy and with thoughtful presentation. The Hostess greeting was warm and inviting.Thats the good news,I felt in a fine dining establishment such as yours and any other for that matter I shouldn’t have to serve my own wine and our server came over several time be4 I served myself. It seemed that you cater to a local clientele which is the life blood of any local business but a couple time people would come in that weren’t eating to talk to friends that were thereand we felt they were in our personal space and that felt uncomfortable. And I’m not trying to say that it’s the fault of your Bisto. And lastly I own a small business myself so I realize how difficult it is to keep up the integrity and reputation of my business and for the most part my wife and I agree that we had a nice dining experience.PS your Hostess recommendation a lookout spot on HYWY 20 and if she hadn’t we would have missed out on 1 of the most spectacular view of this beautiful state. Thk you .Gordon Farrell
It's wonderful that Winthrop has such a gem. It's the kind of restaurant that feels like it's for a special night out but at the same time it's cozy and friendly.
Excellent food. The rabbit risotto and duck breast were both delicious
Awesome as always. They were slammed that night, and still the food came in a reasonable amount of time, and we were not hurried in any way. Marked down a couple of ratings because the wait staff was kind of absent a lot of the time when we wanted to place orders for drinks and such. But again, slammed. It was also really, really loud, but we had a party of 10 drunk people celebrating next to us. Overall, however, great experience. The food is so consistently amazing!
Once again we have driven more than 250 miles for dinner at our all time favorite restaurant. This was for a special birthday dinner. The food was wonderful as always, the drinks great, and the staff are all my favorites. We feel so welcomed as soon as we arrive. It is walking distance from downtown and well worth the drive from anywhere!
We were incredibly disappointed by our experience at Arrowleaf Bistro. The food was awful. We both had pasta and it tasted like cafeteria food. My pasta was bland, with no flavor and overloaded with garlic - to the point that my tongue was burning from all the garlic. The pasta was way overcooked and mushy and there was no flavor to the sauce. My husband's ristotto was soupy and nothing like what risotto is supposed to be. We were at their old location and had a good meal, and were shocked to have such a bad meal now. For the price they charge ($27 for the pasta), we expected a much better meal. The ambiance of the old restaurant is missing in the new restaurant as well - the atmosphere is somewhat cold and sterile at their current location. We will definitely not recommend this restaurant and will not be going back.
This visit was after several prior visits to the restaurant. When we first visited, it was a jewel of a place in Winthrop with excellent food, excellent local ingredients, and very good service. We had a great experience. This was true the next couple of visits. However, the last 2 times that we have dined at the restaurant, the food has gone down in quality and the service has been less than optimal. At the time of our last visit, we were seated and had to wait at least 10 minutes before having a server come by. We had brought a bottle of wine with us and even when server first there, they did not ask about if we wanted the wine opened. Waited several more minutes for server to come back and tell us about the specials for the day. We ordered salads and a Sicilian chicken and a red wine risotto. The salads were the best part of the meal, unfortunately. The chicken was dry, the farro was undercooked, really not the best dish. The risotto was not seasoned well, did not have the creamy feel that goes with risotto. There was rabbit in the dish which had cartilage and bone pieces that one would crunch on when eating. Neither of us finished our entrees. The server never asked about how our meal was. And the server was very absent as we sat with plates off to the side waiting for the check. (interestingly, even with partially finished plates, there was no question about how the food was). Because of the poor experience the last couple of visits, we do not plan to visit the restaurant again nor recommend it to anyone else.
Best restaurant in the Methow Valley. Have used it for years at both locations (it moved) and will continue to use it. Recommend it to all our professional visitors and many give positive feedback. Lamb and scallops were great this time, fresh, lamb local, and cooked properly. Oysters are excellent, even being in the Inland West. You know you are in a small restaurant but we could converse with our visiting professional friend without trouble. The restaurant owners know us and greet accordingly - nice to be "home." Spirits and wines are excellent -- great gin martinis. Also excellent local WA-OR wines.
we ordered off the starters menu (4) items. Very good. Service a little slow at our table. Server spent more time with her friends at their tables. Server never returned to pour the champagne. Maybe a misunderstanding. A very pleasant 24th wedding anniversary.
Winthrop is a lovely, very small town with much to recommend it in the way outdoor activities. However we never expected a truly “fine dining” experience right in town. The Arrowleaf Bistro is warm, welcoming, casual and serves amazing food! The caesar salads were the best we’d had in years, with just the right balance of lemon, mustard, and garlic, and the brioche croutons were SO tasty, I could have eaten a bowl of them! And the bread served with the salads was a delicious whole-grain seeded bread that tasted so warm on its own that it didn’t need to be warmed in the oven. My Marrakesh Chicken and couscous was quite tasty, seasoned beautifully—though a bit dry (I see now that perhaps the yogurt sauce was omitted?). But my husband’s pork chop was insanely good! It was juicy with loads of taste and he was generous enough to give me some bites of my own. We shared a thick slice of rich and light (quite the culinary magic trick to manage that!) pear spice cake. What a fabulous dessert!
All I can say is that if the owners ever decide to open a restaurant in Bellingham—just 3 or so hours away—we would become steady customers.
Food was creative and well presented. Service staff were warm and friendly.
We have been here before so know it can be better. They were out of Chardonnay by the glass, not sure how a restaurant can be out, but they were. The food was not as hot as it should have been and the Rabbit risotto was not very good. However the brussels sprouts on the bed of pistachios was great!
When we visit the Methow valley we always make sure we have at least one dinner at this restaurant.
Based on our somewhat limited exploration, Arrowleaf Bistro is probably the best restaurant in Winthrop but it's also the most expensive. Our dinners were very good but pricey. We ordered a bottle of wine to go with dinner, and it was marked up more than is typical. The food is locally sourced, and the specialties, which I would recommend, are meat-based. There is a seafood option which varies but I'd save your seafood eating for the coast. Despite the price, I'm sure I'll eat here again when in the area.
Nice restaurant, the only game in town. Full bar, which I enjoyed. Menu is limited, and when we arrived at 6PM on a Wednesday, they were already out of two items.
Very disappointed in the tomatoes and burrata. It was a small piece of cheese, some tomatoes, literally drenched in balsamic syrup.
The Rissotto, pork chop and Sicilian chicken were all good.
My pasta dish was underwhelming. Something was missing... salt maybe. It was bland. And expensive.
We had the pistachio crusted Halibut once again and as always it was amazing! The Caesar salad and House salad are always exceptional. We are always so pleased with the quality of food and exceptional service!
Our party of four enjoyed the pistachio crusted halibut last night. Both of our young friends have culinary experience and appreciated everything. We ordered five appetizer dishes and Sharon loved that she could have dairy free choices. We all noted the perfectly cooked fish - not an easy task to get right. If our friendly server (Dawn) didn't have business to attend to she would have been a welcome guest at our table.
The food was fresh, locally sourced and delicious. Service was excellent, drinks were made properly.
Arrowleaf Bistro never disappoints. Food is inventive and always delicious. Service is attentive and never bothersome. Wonderful experience
Arrowleaf is my "go to" place in the Methow Valley. I try to find at least one evening for dinner at Arrowleaf whenever I am in the Valley. The food is excellent, the service outstanding, the atmosphere warm and friendly. The waitstaff are very cordial and the experience much more than one expects from a rural restaurant. Arrowleaf would be worthy of high praise even if it were located in a major city known for superb food (e.g. NY, SF, Seattle, etc.).
Gluten free calamari was a real treat since I am celiac. The rabbit risotto was superb. Highly recommend this place.
We have eaten at Arrowleaf a few times. It is always very good, with the exception of our experience 8-11-18. I had the Steak Frites, which was fine, as expected. Two in our party had the pork chop. They both said it was overcooked and dry. We all know pork chops can be tricky to avoid being dry but we expected the pros at Arrowleaf to overcome this. The tough thing about a restaurant like Arrowleaf is that they set a high bar and a poor dining experience is not expected. But we'll be back. Meanwhile in Syria...................
Table was ready, prompt service with a smile, Pork Chop was delicious. Glad I made a reservation early in the morning..
Arrowleaf was incredible. The service was attentive and subtle. the ambiance was calm and cozy. We enjoyed multiple dishes that blew our minds. However, as a vegetarian, the only vegetarian entree (pasta with an eggplant sauce) was super disappointing, especially at a $30 price point.
We started off with great craft cocktails in the cozy bar. My husband had the rabbit mushroom risotto and I had the crab/fish cakes. Both were to die for. Service is warm and friendly. The menu is seasonal. Well worth the money.
My husband and I have been eating at Arrowleaf each year since we married in 2016. We came to Winthrop for a mini-honeymoon and come back every year for a quick anniversary trip. Our dinner at Arrowleaf NEVER disappoints. This year we had the Crab-Fish Cakes, Duck Breast, and Chicken Breast. I told my husband that I would eat for more vegetables if I could prepare them as masterfully as the staff here. My Bistro 75 cocktail was the best version of the classic cocktail I've had. We also had a slice of the Honey Apricot Cheesecake. We will continue to recommend Arrowleaf and will return each year!
We had the best time here. It was our first time to the new restaurant. The food and service are always on point. Plus being a family with pups they accomadated us and we were so happy. We love this place and will be back again.
