Maybe it's just me, but A' Roma wasn't what I expected after reading the Open Table reviews. The food was not by any means bad, nor the service... It was, however, a chain-like experience in every respect, from ambiance, to breadth of menu, food, limited wine list, etc. Again, the food and service was "good," just nothing more. It's simply not a place I'd go for an important occasion.
Everyone in our party absolutely loved their meal!
A great place!
Food is amazing. Recipes been in the family for many years, according to the waiters. I’ve yet to find a dish that is not delicious. Highly recommend it is on the expensive side but once you taste the food you will understand why. The ambiance is a little elegant with people dressed up more than an average restaurant.
The food and service were great !
Love this restaurant, great costumer service, good food and nice place to have dinner
Good value and very excellent food, A little tight as far as space. Service is very good.
Valentines Dinner with Mom, amazing service and food per usual!
What can I say the best as always. Our server Ian is a joy to have wait on us always informative and courteous. Another wonderful meal, wine, and service at Roma's.
The food and wine options are fabulous; the bar staff is attentive; the wait staff could use some improvement.
Our waiter was Joey, also a part owner. Very pleasant and conscientious. Loved the service and the whole evening! Thank you Joey.
Outstanding, fantastic and memorable experience. The food is sensational, as each course is served with loving care. This family owned and operated establishment excels in not only cuisine, but in service as well. The pasta, veal, cheesecake desserts and after dinner drinks are all perfection personified. Wonderful, incredible restaurant. The best Italian food in North Orange County. Job well done.
Still the best Italian food in the area. We come here whenever we are close. The bar is small, but the service is great. Lots of regulars here... Great palce to take a date.
This was our first time. We had tickets to a play so were on a tight schedule. The hostess (one of the owners) who took the reservation was VERY helpful and gave us advice about when to arrive etc. The food was excellent. My husband had the chicken marsala and I have the rigatoni in vodka sauce. Both were very good. We would go back in a minute.
Amazing as always. Our favorite Italian restaurant!
Perfect as always. Ive been there many times god many years. Ian does a great job as a waiter.
I really enjoyed the food but I was very disappointed by the waiter. They had a busy evening, and the waiter treated us like dirt. The other waiters did a much better job with their tables and appeared more attentive. We were celebrating our anniversary and the waiter did not acknowledge it - the hostess did (we put a note in OpenTable) and I was just annoyed he didn't say a word.
Beyond that, he checked on us ONCE the entire dinner. After letting us put an entree order, he did not ask us about our salad preference (it comes with a comp salad) but we wanted Ceasar Salad. I didn't realize he didn't ask until I heard another table being asked their preference.
When I was served my pasta, he asked me once as he rushed by if it was good (and I had food in my mouth). No parmesan cheese was offered. I had to ask another waitress for parm.
Finally, I had ordered a Gingerale which he did not refill the entire evening. I had to ask towards the end of my meal. We were not offered water. Nothing.
I felt the food was good here and I'd go again but I'd be sure not to sit in his section. He was awful.
Excellent food. Good service
Clean and quite environment
Wish they are open on Sundays as well
A little pricey but worth the dinner occasion with that significant someone. A good first date restaurant with it’s cozy semi-romantic ambience.
The food is excellent. The service is spot on. Restaurant is very clean and the ambiance is conducive for good conversation. I would highly recommend.
Dined here with a party of 5 for my moms birthday. The staff was friendly, very accommodating with all our needs. Menu has a huge selection of pasta, pizza, soup, specialty dishes. Fairly priced and food was absolutely delicious. Even surprised us with a comp birthday dessert. Recommend trying this place out
This was for a very special birthday, we had a nice table, good service and food
Food was delicious! Our server was very attentive as were the folks attending to bread and table clearing. They were constantly at our table helping with whatever we needed.
Excellent food, drink, service. Very busy Christmas weekend evening at the restaurant. Great Italian food, worth the price. Our favorite Italian restaurant. Wish to enjoy it. However, this weekend at times it felt we were being rushed.
Pre Christmas concert dinner
Everything was wonderful, service, food, wine, atmosphere. We were made to feel comfortable. A perfect dinner.
Best white table cloth restaurant in the area. Attentive, professional servers. Great food. Appropriate pricing.
Fabulous restaurant with marvelous food, great service and good drinks. This is a destination restaurant for me. I live approximately 50 miles away but try to plan outings so that I end them with dinner here. This restaurant is truly a gem.
My brother has been there on several occasions and recommended it for my birthday celebration with family including my granddaughters. Food was great as well as service.
This is one of the finest North Orange County restaurants. Family owned and operated. Each member takes pride in serving the very best of Italian cuisine. Wait service by Dom is the very, very best. He is spectacular and the consummate professional. Overall, a very pleasant and memorable experience. Enjoy fine pastas, carne, fish and pizza dishes. And don't forget the outstanding cheesecake.
Really nice place. We go for any official work dinner/lunch, visiting vendors/customers. Everyone loves it. The food is authentic, delicious, and reasonably priced.
Excellent food and service cannot be beat. Great for locals. Treated like family
Wonderful, incredible, amazing and memorable. These are some of the adjectives to describe the finest North Orange County Italian restaurant. Owned and operated by the Ferrari family, they excel in fine cuisine along with outstanding service. Pasta, salads, carne and fish, they have it all and it comes highly recommended.
Amazing food, awesome service, always consistent. Especially love the veal saltimbocca and chicken picatta.
Great Family, I always feel welcomed every time I dine there.
We ALWAYS have a lovely time. Thanks to the hospitality of the staff, and the Ferrari family!
This is one of the most amazing Italian restaurants in North Orange County. It has the very best and consistently outstanding cuisine and wait service. Dom is the best, as he's the epitome of what an outstanding waiter should be. Be sure to request him when dining here. Excellent pastas and tasty carne are both highly recommended and don't forget the mouth watering cheesecake for dessert. It's the very best you've ever tasted.
Was looking forward to visiting A’roma for first time based on Open Table top rating.
Was quickly seated in a nice setting with ambient lighting and a low noise level. First off, I must say our server left something to be desired with a businesslike tableside manner almost on the edge of snobbish though he appeared to be warmer to those who seem to frequent this establishment.
Started with ordering wine from the list (which was out of stock- Ouch ! ) but another fine Cab was available. Lightly toasted bread was served (quite bland) but nicely kicked up with a butter in marinara. Next up was calamari. Lightly crusted and cooked well but almost no flavor at all. Again marinara saved this appetizer. Caesar salad was fair, lacking a prescense of garlic and anchovie hints.
Main courses : Veal Marsala and Chicken Cacciatore. Veal was covered in a thick over floured gravy which and lacking the marsala flavor for which it is named. Fusili pasta was NOT aldente as is advertised as being an art of A’roma. Mixed veggies cooked okay but a bit salty.
Cacciatore served with penne (cooked well) but chicken was drowned in a veggie filled marinara and underwhelming to say the least.
Highlight was the busboy who was most attentive and quite friendly. Could be a nice server if given the chance.
I would say the overall value of this $95 dinner tab was markedly below what an OpenTable diner would expect. We have had premeir service and superior food quality at other Italian restaurants in the OC for far less money. Consequently and unfortunately I just cant recommend A’roma to Open Table or dining friends.
Food was great and service exceptional. A hidden gem in an otherwise boring plaza. The bread basket is awesome, you don’t need to order appetizers unless it’s something that will complement the bread!
